Big Changes

Well, they bit the bullet. A number of changes are coming to the high end game of everquest in the near future. Notably, these include:
  • Complete heal cap reduced from 10,000 HP to 7,500 HP
  • Mana Burn is being removed and replaced, players with the Ability will have their AA points refunded.
  • Monk defense is being lowered.
  • The rod of mystical transvergance (aka, the GodRod) is being removed and replaced with a single target charge with limited usefulness. Additionally, it's noted that a number of encounters will be shortened.
Read the complete article here. Personally, I see the need for these changes as Planes of Power comes on, and the game expands in levels and player power yet again. In the case of the ModRod change, I only hope that certain encounters are adjusted massively to account for the lack of infinite mana. Of course, feel free to discuss the changes here. Especialy when I see a cleric about 10 levels lower than a druid get chosen over the druid thats been LFG for a couple hours. Those poor clerics that are so nerfed that if a certain number doesnt come to a raid the raid is canceled.

Who is the PRIMARY healer in the game?? A cleric. WHo has the best Heal/mana ratio in the game?? A Cleric. No one in the game has the healing power of the cleric, so if the raid gets cancelled casue there arent enough to take down a mob, waaa get over it. Honestly I get sick and tired of rezzing ppl in higher lvl zones cause thier cheesy druid and or shammy could not keep him alive with his weak a$$ heal spells. First of all, they are a secondary type healer not primary. I do not complain about thier lame CH at all, excelt when they blow a TRUE CH on my tank for some crap 2-3k hp heal. usually pisses the tank off to cause they like to go berserk for a lil bit anyways to use a disc or what have ya.Now yeah going from 10k hp to 7500? yeah thats retarted, well fekkin bass ackwards If U ask me. Should be 7500 now and 10k later, specially with PoP coming out.When PoP come out, Hi lvl tanks will have 10k Hp or more, so are clerics gonna get say a lvl 50 CH for 15k hp? and leave the lesser lvl 39 CH for 7500? And whining baout clerics getting CH at 39, wtf dont get a 96 rez till 56. isnt that one of the main skills of a cleric too, bring your **** back from the dead and gain alot of XP lost? nerf of the CH to me at this point and time 4 years later is retarted. So what they are making clerics even more unneeded? Sure lets nerf their only means of decent mana exchange on those long battles. But lets nerf their CH, make their one and only truly ability left to them as an asset. I find it increasingly difficult to find groups for exp grinding when a druid, can slip in and do the healing, snare, and oh do I forget their PoTG spell, gee give it more mana regen why dont you and just TAKE CLERICS OUT OF THE GAME!

I don't think you actually read the message from VI.. Go back and check it again, without letting your anger for having one of your best spells nerfed get in the way.

You get CHeal at level 39, a spell which has until this patch would heal for 10k.. How many level 40ish characters do you know having 10k HP when they said not even the best tanks have hit 10k yet? (That's prolly up for debate, 10k may have happened, but personally I haven't heard of it).
So they drop it back to 7.5k, round lvl 39 that's still good.

"But.. but.. but.. what about when we're higher in level and NEED that 10k?"
Well, did you catch the part about VI saying they wanted to give room to give you clerics better spells later? Something more suited to that level range no doubt.

Honestly, can't see nerfing CHeal totally as a bad thing. As long as they do implement something better later for whatever encounters may arise later, I say bring it on.
Only thing in my opinion is that they change the name of the spell. If it's not going to be a 'complete heal' pretty soon, it shouldn't continue to be named so either.
