It's a database!  It's a wiki!  It's a wikibase!!

The Final Fantasy XI Site is the first site on our network to see the roll out of our new wikibase.  Eventually it will be carried over to all of the Allakhazam sites.  What is a wikibase?  Imagine a site with the editability of a wiki and the searchability of a database.  That is our new wikibase.  There are pure wiki pages and the ability of the community to add their own pages and edit existing pages like a traditional wiki, but there are also database pages with editable sections that keep the search features of a database while allowing you the community to keep them updated through more than just comments.

To get a better idea what we are talking about, you can click on any mob or quest in the database and see how it has been changed, or just go to the main page of the wikibase and start there.  We've added quite a few articles already.  The wikibase also has been added to the general search and is part of the menu to the left.

We're very excited about the possibilities of the wikibase.  As far as we can tell, this is something totally unique to the internet.  It is still new and still being tweaked and supplemented, so expect more changes to it over time.  We welcome your help in making it even better.  Please feel free to explore it, add to it, edit it and to post your feedback and suggestions in the wikibase forum.
