So i just bought this game today finally, after days of reading every forum topic and hyping myself up. I get home, rip open the package and get into playonline and this crap happens. OF COURSE, the one day, out of all the days i could have bought the game, TODAY they have to do maintenance. I've killed for less..... also im a noob could the next person who reads this explain briefly what this DDoS attack thing is? some kind of hackers?

Ok listen i Play clock around and i even understand why SE is doing this maintance.....
Like any other Super computer holding masses of servers they need maintance for quaility gameplay
right now i keep losing connection and dropping out because the servers is worn and needs rebooting , it needs to rest and it needs proper fixing, at least we have a provider that cares about its servers and cares about its player's gameplay because a computer holdng this much data and runs 24/7 needs this to be done to it or we will have no FFXI at all so i rather wait 18 hours of my life for a quality server fixing than to keep playing over ****** servers that never gets maintained... i respect Squarenix and pol because ven tho they have problems there is never nothing major or never just closed seervers like some MMorpg so stop the gotdamn complaining its only 1-2 days and its normal again, yall act like SE is doing something wroong but really there very good at doing what they do, and yea they have messed up alot of jobs because they want all jobs to be equal but they will never be equal... so until someone replys to me about why maintanace isnt a good idea stfu,

they need to do this it's natural and like i said i fiend the game too but i know when something is nessasary lol, thank you for reading it

It's good that they keep the servers "on the ball" as it were, but 18 hours? My goodness.

Couldn't they do some sort of "staged" upgrade so that all the servers aren't down at the same time?

They've done it before.

No FFXI & exp make Homer something something...

problem with that is, this isn't an FFXI maintinence... FFXI is actually up and running... only problem is, we have to conect to it through playonline... and since we don't have sepreate servers(i'm guessing there are several we connect through, but aren't asinged to one specificaly, or something of the nature) they can't stagger it amongst the servers... :( sigh.. and on my day off too, from just before i get up, to about the time i go to bed... i'm begining to get more into line with my S/E hates me theory...

They are upgrading the servers, which hopefully will mean better performance for the game. Less lag I hope.

Actually I am thankful for them for doing this, I wuold rather have a company that cares about upgrading their servers than just keeping the same specs even though their user base is growing.

I understand where ya coming from, but they did this 2 weeks ago aswell. The lag could have been looked at then. There have been a lot of updates lately.

Upgrading the game is fine, its when it takes 3 days to log back on (if ya lucky) after the danm upgrade.

Anything they as far as upgrading is good, but lately the game been down loads. Like i said it could have been delt with the various upadates they have been doin over the past couple of months. I got a funny feeling the lag will be here to stay for a while lol. Ah well, just means i still cant do the garrison what with the lag lol.

Arrghh why are they doing this all the time? Im no computer genius, but it does seem like they havnt got an idea themselves as to what they are doin. Otherwise it prolly would have been sorted the 1st time round lol.

Im just another person having a rant. Normally i would complain to someone, but as usual (in this day and age) this is another faceless company that a single person couldnt make a difference if they tried.

I think ALL players should flood them with complaints (if its even possible). They are obviously not reading these posts, so i think its time we told em what we think rather than moaning on here and gatteing frustrated

Rememebr the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT!!!

If you *were* a computer person, you'd realize servers need continuous maintenance to run smoothly. Be thankful SE is so attentive.

I think we can go a day without FF. If not, maybe we need to check into rehab.

the last big server fix up took just as long, for the same problems, and took most of us 2-3 days jsut to get in... with all the conjestion and what not.

to have some one pay money to play a game thats always messed up is jsut to much... but like every one esle i cant go more than a few days with out it lol..so time to wait, and prepare for the next few days of trying to update and log back in

1.Is only Playonline.com that getting Ddos attack?
2.Is it the only online site that having 100+ visitor?

I think their servers/system getting old and they update it. There is tons of programs that protect servers from such a thing. If they did upgade the servers, they may need to change the clint progy too.

Guess they're taking it all offline...

Guess they're serious about upgrading the servers... I have some optimism regarding this... sure it'll be down forever.. sure I'll go through withdrawals.. heheh

I wonder if this will stop the DDoS attacks altogether or give them the ability to track them better..
also.. is there going to be a download for this..
if they lose my character data, I might have to kill someone..
