For those of you who get G4TV, be sure to tune in Wednesday, November 16th at 4:00 Pacific Time for Attack of the Show. I will be appearing live to in all likelyhood babble witlessly about the website and about MMORPG's in general. Let's turn out en masse and make Nielson scream in astonishment. For more information about Attack of the Show, check out this link (it's probably not a good sign that they spelled the site name wrong).

FFXI was awesome and i miss it alot, but alas when my computer died and it was about 7 months before i got a new one... well lets just say a lvl 75whm no longer exists :( /cry so wow it is!

Maybe you could ask them why they treat FFXI like the red-headed, step-child of MMOs.

The only MMOs they ever mention are WoW and CoH. Occasionally they refer to EQ2, but since it's release FFXI has never been touched.

While I agree with this completely...since it seems that the entire G4/TechTV (Comcast Corporation) company is against games that do not spend a lot of money on advertising.

I have seen actual advertisements for FFXI!
There was an ad in the most recent CGW magazine. I also think I remember seeing a television ad a little while ago.
There was even a review of CoP expansion for FFXI on X-Play right when CoP came out.

This is probably due to the amount of funds that Microsoft is floating to SqareEnix for making the Xbox360 version of FFXI.

Maybe we'll see more interest in FFXI in the near future, especially with a new expansion coming out?

Publicity is good and helps to bring in more money.
Most other MMOs have not been so fortunate, even with the aid of advertising, like Matrix online.

If you're going to be away when the show airs, at least switch on your TVs and digital cable boxes to G4TV for when the show airs. They'll still be able to pull ratings numbers then.

Also, if you have TiVo, then TiVo it. There is a rating system where TiVos track which shows get recorded and how many times they get recorded. Also, they can track how many times you rewatch a record show.

So for artificially inflating numbers, there's two options for you.

Yeah, Payback Ranger is correct about the people meters. /Sigh..... I was a Nielson home a year ago in college but couldn’t continue the program when we moved to Houston. The homes are based on areas/population so once you move you’re out. Since there are only 5,000 Nielson homes in the US, I highly doubt an accurate rating will be made on this particular segment. Not that our one little Nielson Home made a difference because I watched TTV much more than I watch G4TTV and we all know what happened there.

Oh, and when you’re a stoner in college and someone just walks up to your door to ask if they can install equipment into you’re TV, VCR, and DVD player you will become quite paranoid! We were afraid to watch TV naked and were constantly afraid of smoking near our TV. But the extra weed money was nice in college. =P

I hope they do talk about FFXI because it is a great game and I want new people in the Ramuh server. I want my high level Alchemy to pay off by taking advantage of the Noobs, Mwahahaha.

……Oh, and Adam is way better than Morgan. Just because she's a girl that plays video games doesn't make her 1000X more attractive. Come on people, just look at her, all of the other girls on G4TTV are much more sight pleasing. Trust me, hot gamer chicks do exist, we're just already taken and none of us are mithras so stop drooling at men. =P

While this is a great idea in sound, and I'm sure I'll be doing this, because I'll be playing FFXI at the time...
Nielson ratings are conducted via phone questionnaires for sampling and an electronic People Meter that is attached to sample households throughout the US and Canada.
Just putting your TV or cable box to the channel does not, unfortunately, add to the ratings of a show or program.
That is unless you have one of those electronic meters in your house to actually record the data of the show being watched. But then they would also still need a person to be present for a more accurate data set.

Sorry for the rant, just wanted to clarify since I do scientific research similar to Nielson ratings company.
