While I hate downtime as much as the rest of us you can't really fault them for doing it on a North American holiday its just a normal monday for them after all. The length of the downtime isn't unreasonable either every single maintenance session comes with the 8 hour downtime. I do feel that having finished the staggered upgrades of the worlds on wednesday they could've done this yesterday or today and avoided pissing off half their player base but oh well thats life for ya they are the game gods of FFXI they do as they wish.

Dear Square Enix,
Why the hell are you scheduling maintenance on Septmeber 6th, a monday, which also happens to be labor day. Thank you, yet again, for inconveniencing us with a retardedly scheduled maintenance time and date. It's bad enough that your updates are always in the afternoon to early night at what is the begining of the american peak play times. It's even worse when you schedule it on a holiday when nobody is working and are looking forward to playing FFXI all day. I suggest moving the maintenance back at least one day.

Thank You,
Disgruntled FFXI Player.

yes the luxory of school has long past my days. A lot of the people that play do work for those account fees and, to take a major holiday that is perfect for grabbing a beer and playing FFXI this is deffinatly a blow to us working people of NA.

Not all of us had "all summer" to play. A lot of people work for a living, so weekends and holidays are our chance to play.
damn them all

This sucks for everyone... cept me.. my account got suspended for a reason no one will tell me ><

Called, Emailed.. did everything. Only answer I can get from them is "we are unable to provide a reason, your account will be reactivated in 7-10 days." Can't even give me a set day >< wtf, SE hates us.

For those of us who work during the week, and can only play on weekends and on HOLIDAYS... this is TERRIBLE. The kicker is when you go to the Final Fantasy XI homepage, and there's no "Contact Us" link or anything like that. If anyone can find a contact for these guys, then post it here. I say, let's give 'em a piece of the players minds... since we are paying their salaries.

Cheers!

Argh, yes. I was planning on making some decent progress on my day off. What's so urgent that they couldn't wait a day? Or do they really have to get things done on US Mondays?
Labour Day!!!??!!

Good job SE, now I got to spend time with my wife on my day off.

Short notice too.
They could have checked the calendar

Adding my two cents: really really poor timing on their part to schedule a massive update on a day off for a large chunk of their players. I seriously hope they reconsider this.

Only thing I can think of is contact them from the website and ask them to push it back a day. Maybe it won't make a difference but it definitely won't if no one tries to point out the issue.

*edit* of course some who look at the news post might not make the labor day connection.

That is just Dumb, but at least I might have another Power Outage due to Hurricane Number 2, so I would not be able to play anyways.

Meh...
It's a get-ready-for-CoP update.
The July-Aug. announcements are gonna be implemented in this update.. including PLDs getting Raise at 50 instead of 75. It's worth it.

Besides, it's going to be a nice day on Monday.. (except maybe in FLA. :( ) Go out and enjoy the sunshine.
Oh well :(

I just read this and I am very disappointed in the day and the amount of time it's going to take. I mean, I just had my server maintinence on Aug 30th and now another one on Sept6th which is Labor Day. Well, we'll have to deal with it. Maybe they will actually get it done on time though this time.
Helllloooooo, anybody home?

Well isn't this just perfect? My parents are away visiting my brother ... my girlfriend left town today to spend the weekend with her sister's family ... things are slow enough at work that I don't have to come into the office on Monday ... arrggghhh!

Looks like I'll be relegated to fighting for a Labor Day tee time.Smiley: banghead
