Mechwarrior Online Q+A #10 - Modes

More Q+A roundup today at MWO's official site, featuring back-mounted weapons, accuracy to the tabletop game, and a philosophical question of an UrbanMech falling in the forest, and if it makes a sound. The potential of more modes besides Deathmatch is explored and, while more are promised, it's a little disappointing they won't be offered at release. Than again, the same could be said for League of Legends, so maybe it won't be so bad.

And we've arrived at the conclusion to our MechWarrior Online interview series! So without further delay, let's get on with the interview!

Mechwarrior Online Q+A #9 - Nuke Death

Did you miss the huge explosive nuke deaths from the other Mechwarrior games and wish they were back? Well, too bad! Cause your dreams are getting rained on in today's newest Q+A session, where they say they have "no plans" for nuke deaths, as well as talks of storm schedules, and pulse lasers.

MechWarrior Online's Winter Map Looks Amazing

If you wanted to be snowblind, MechWarrior Online has your back, in the new Frozen City reveal. Like most war games before it, the snow effects are excellent, which adds more layers of depth to the combat beyond what you can see. But what's really important is the temperature, which drops the speed that your weapons heat up, and the ice, which causes loss of traction.

Yet Another Q+A For Mechwarrior Online

More Mech Q+A! They've been talking about a lot of stuff important to the MMO scene, such as a spectator mode and balance among lower class and higher class mechs. There's also hints at what long-range missiles do when they aren't locked on and hit at close range, and how it "looks really cool when it hits the cockpit." Now I'm really curious.

MWO Founders Packages On Sale

If you're a hardcore Mechwarrior fan, today is a good day - MWO's founder packages are on sale, ranging from $30 to $120, each detailed on the site. The 30$ pre-order gets you $40 in-game currency, a premium account for one month, a Founder's Tag, and early access. The $60 package gets you all the previous stuff, double the currency and premium account timer, and an exclusive mech. The Legendary kit has all four of the exclusive mechs for Founders, the $80 in-game currency, three months of premium, a shot at being in the credits, and the Founder's Tag and early access.

Razer Launches New Mechwarrior Online Controller

If you're anything like me you're excited for MWO, but the ability to play this game is not authentic enough, and you need a Steel Battalion-esque rig to make it awesome. Razer has your back. The Artemis Controller comes with a twelve-key keypad on the left that's fully programmable, a flight stick controller equipped with force feedback, and even a screen that's made for the minimap right in the center. All of this is made 100% for Mechwarrior Online when it launches.

If that's not your flavor, they also have a new version of the Copperhead, dubbed the Taipan, that's also gotten positive feedback at E3 right now.

Mechwarrior Online Tweetchat Q+A

There was a storm of Twitter questions that were answered recently from studio President Ross Bullock and Creative Director Bryan Ekman, and the developer blog was kind enough to assemble them on to an easily read Q+A post. There's way too much to cover past the jump, but here's some important stuff - legs can't be blown off, only made useless. House-specific mechs will be costlier depending on your allegiance. There is going to be an open beta. Skins and camo patterns are supported. Locational damage is "your greatest tactic in dealing with enemies." More on the site!
