Wintergrasp Disabled on All Realms

The new patch released for World of Warcraft, 3.0.8, seems to be causing realm-wide crashes when Wintergrasp changes hands. This problem has been remedied by disabling it entirely by simply hard-coding the faction in-command of Wintergrasp. This will be fixed quickly, we are told. For the time being, we must all be patient and wait for the coders to fix these minor issues. With these fixes, the servers should be more stable. There were rolling restarts on all realms from 5 AM to 6 AM. Additionally, there are some documented issues as well that should get attention soon. All-in-all, it was a pretty solid patch day from Blizzard.

Mines of Moria To Be Updated Thursday

Yet another patch coming your way, Lord of the Rings Online players. Looks like you'll be getting a small update on Thursday; nothing too major, just some small things of note. This one looks to be a bug-fix release for the most part. There will be some moderate downtime associated with the update server-side, so prepare for a little wait. At least they are keeping up with the Jones'. We'll keep playing if you keep patching!

Patch 3.0.8 Will Have 2 Minor Bugs

Blizzard poster Eyonix stated today on the official World of Warcraft general discussion forum that there will be two bugs in the next minor content patch, which is more affectionately known as 3.0.8.

When the next minor content patch is released players may notice two separate issues. The warlock spell Ritual of Summoning can only be used once every two minutes. Additionally, there are some human female animation errors, specifically when using two-handed weapons or shooting with a ranged weapon. Both of these issues are actively being addressed and we hope to have a fix available shortly after the patch releases.

Does this mean Tuesday, Jan. 20 will be patch day? Only time will tell since there has been no official announcement made, but you can start placing your bets.

World of Warcraft Trains Employees

For those of you who manage a group of people and are trying to get your people to collaborate and work as a team, there's now ink on exactly how World of Warcraft can make you a better team.

"Few executives have heard of this game, much less participated in it, despite the fact that over 10 million players are active in it around the world. Upon hearing this, most executives are likely to respond that "That's an awful lot of pimply teenagers," falling back on a conventional stereotype about video game players. In fact, the majority of the players is in the 23-39-year-old bracket and deeply engaged. The average player invests about 23 hours per week playing the game."

Honestly, this is really true. Blizzard rewards us by giving us an awesome J-Curve to learn, and makes us feel as if we have accomplished something. Thank you for pointing out such positive attributes to our favorite game, BusinessWeek!

Mysterious Package Hint of New Warhammer Character

A Package sent to Keen and Graev's Gaming Blog might be some sort of hint as to what is next from Mythic Entertainment, although the hints are nebulous at best. One can only assume. From what is included, a haircut might somehow be necessary. The only thing we even think we know so far would be from a user who posted a comment.

“A notable aspect to Dwarf culture is the Slayer Oath. A Dwarf who has suffered a great shame, loss, or humiliation will dye his hair and beard orange, and cut it into a Mohawk using pig grease to stick it in place.”

Perhaps a Dwarven Slayer? The intrigue never stops here at Allakhazam, and we will keep you posted as the information comes to us.

Lord British Laments on Tabula Rasa

Richard Garriott, Lord British himself, has recently given an interview to GameDaily. He discusses having lost the massively-multiplayer battle, and even offers a bit of conjecture as to where he went wrong.

“But I'm also not what I'll call terribly surprised, either, that the company would choose this path. I think NCsoft looks at it as an opportunity cost issue -- where they put those resources and people on that, or something new. They chose something new.”

He gave it the old college try, we can all agree to that. Now whether or not Tabula Rasa was, indeed, a “winner” is up for debate. Regardless, we are sad to see it go, and hope Lord British continues onward, in haste and in good style.

More Champions Online Gameplay Footage

Cryptic has put out another video of their highly anticipated attempt into the massively multiplayer realm, Champions Online. For those who haven't been paying attention lately, we covered this just recently when some footage showed up on MSNBC. Still, it's not clear whether or not this is Xbox 360 footage or possibly from a PC. Regardless, you can get a great sense of the realism involved in this title.

New Diablo III Shirts

The European Blizzard store now has a new, wicked demonic T-Shirt available. For those of you so inclined, you can pick out your shirts. That is, if you live in Europe. Small through 2XL are available through the site, although currently the only color is black. What else would/could you even want, though; other than a release date for the game, perhaps? Hopefully, these will hit the Americas soon!
