Forsaken World Closed Beta Phase 1 Begins Today

The first phase of Forsaken World's closed beta kicks off today, and Perfect World Entertainment is celebrating by hosting its first event. Meet the Dudu Turtle! The pet will be given to all players who reach level 29 on three characters before the end of the phase. If you're not in phase 1 of the open beta, have no fear. The closed beta will be open to everyone very soon and Perfect World plans on rewarding everyone who participates!

In the meantime, players can plan out their characters in advance using the official Forsaken World Talent Calculator. There are three paths to follow for each class, so choose your talents wisely.

Also, don't forget to check out the Forsaken World Closed Beta Trailer after the jump.

Forsaken World Warrior Class Spotlight Released

Perfect World Entertainment has released their spotlight on Forsaken World's Warrior Class. While other classes, such as the bard, have complex casting systems and multiple ways to attack and buff, the Warrior is your straight up damage dealer. The Warrior walks softly and carries a big stick.

The Warrior is designed to dominate in one-on-one combat or take out numerous enemies at once. If you're going to play a warrior, Perfect World warns that you have to be good at two things: "maiming and killing." Are you ready to dive in head first into a group of monsters? If so, then the Warrior is definitely for you!

Forsaken World Bard Class Spotlight Released

Ladies and gentlemen, Perfect World Entertainment presents the Bard! Forsaken World's newest character class spotlight focuses on these maniacal minstrels. The Bard class will feature a complex system for buffs called a measure. Players must set up their measure to cast the right buffs at the right time, much like playing the notes in a musical measure.

A skilled Bard is designed to be a huge asset in any party, providing the group with defense and attack bonuses as well as delivering punishing attacks to all foes. The Bard class may look delicate with those fancy hats, but looks can be deceiving. Don't underestimate this musical character class.

Forsaken World Protector Class Spotlight Released

Perfect World Entertainment just released their spotlight on the Protector class for the upcoming MMO Forsaken World. These nine-feet tall behemoths are the very definition of the word "tank." The Protectors are a race of men made entirely of stone. Their composition allows for both absorbtion abilites as well as massive damage dealing attacks. Their special racial ability "Fury" causes the Protectors to gain more power the longer a fight lasts.

As the first line of defense in a group formation, the Protector is designed to live up to his name in every definition of the word. To register for the beta visit the offical Forsaken World site.

Vampire Class Outlined in Foresaken World

According to a poll on the Foresaken World site, nearly 40% of players want to try out the Vampire class. In response, Perfect World Entertainment has posted a preview of the Vampire that outlines the different roles the class can fill in the game.

Vampires can heal themselves and party members, sacrifice health to deal extra damage, cast spells, and transform into a fire-breathing bat. Players will be able to try out the class once the Foresaken World closed beta kicks off on October 27.

Forsaken World Class Spotlight: The Assassin

Seems like every MMORPG's gotta have one! That dual-wielding, stabbity based class that always makes everyone super angry with their ultra-evasion and sneaky tactics. That's right, today the Forsaken World team decided to do a class highlight of their new class that's only playable by Humans and Kindred: the Assassin! This sneaky class is, according to the FW team, capable of appearing and disappearing from the battlefield at a moments' notice, and their combo-point based abilities allow them to deal incredible burst damage and catch up to their fleeing opponents.

Some of the abilities highlighted in this devblog include your standard fare, like Swift Evasion (which gives a runspeed boost), but there are a few more unique abilities, like Lightbending Reflexes, where if the Assassin manages to dodge five attacks in quick succession while under the effect of Swift Evasion, he or she will become stealthed, and that stealth will not be removed by attacking. Interesting.

As well, Assassins will also feature some neat "don't hit me" abilities that rely more on reflecting damage and negative effects, like Snakeskin, where if the Assassin is slowed, she will slow her opponent for the same amount (and have a chance to remove the movement impairment on herself). While it certainly does sound like your everyday Rogue, the Forsaken World team does seem to have a few tricks up their sleeve!

Forsaken World Closed Beta begins Oct. 27th

Forsaken World, a new MMORPG being developed by the people behind Perfect World International (seriously, you guys need to think of more original MMORPG names), has just announced the start date for their first closed beta: October 27th. Now, this will be a closed beta to begin with, although the team notes that for their first batch of beta testers, "there will be plenty to test and try out before the game goes live."

Sounds like a lot of fun! They also advise players to pay close attention to the official Perfect World Forums, as well as the official Perfect World Facebook Page in order to snag some free beta keys. Good luck getting in!

PWE Hints at Upcoming Forsaken World MMO

Perfect World Entertainment has been busy this week preparing for the upcoming Battle of the Immortals closed beta test by slowly unveiling the game's story and features. The company is also in the midst of the Kung Foo! closed beta. Well, a new blog entry has hinted that two new games is just the start for PWE this year.

The blog entry focuses on staying connected to PWE news through Facebook and Twitter, but there is one line that caught our eye:

"That's not even mentioning our upcoming MMO Forsaken World, which is a game we can't wait to start talking about."

The post contains no details on the game, but MMOsite just posted a preview of the free-to-play 3D fantasy MMO. Forsaken World will include five playable races: vampires, dwarves, titans, elves and humans. You can read the full PWE blog post after the jump.
