Family Guy Online Character Creator is Live

Last month, to everyone's surprise, Fox announced that Family Guy Online is debuting this fall. Well, it looks like the free-to-play browser game is one step closer to reality with the launch of the Character Creator! You can now create the characters you'll be playing once the game launches, so register for an account on the official Family Guy Online site to build a toon and get a much better idea of what this game is all about.

You start off the character creation process by choosing a class. Yes, there are actually classes in Family Guy Online. So far, you can choose to base your class on Peter, Stewie, Lois or Chris. The Brian class is still locked. As always, it looks like Meg is the character nobody wants. Each class comes with different abilities:

  • Peter: "I fight ya up close, I ain't gonna do none of them fancy jumpin' around moves, but I'm tough, and I can take a lot of punishment." Abilities include Very Tough, Throws Weight Around (AoE), Center of Attention (taunt?) and Gassy.
  • Lois: "I'm good at healing my teammates, and I'm also useful if you're in one of those softball leagues where you need to have a girl on your team or you forfeit." Abilities include Skilled Fighter, Pretty Tough and Provider (healing).
  • Stewie: "You know me, I've got cool gadgets, I can attack from afar, and I enjoy fly fishing. That's right. I find it relaxing. What do you do that's so great?" Abilities include Art of War (damage),  Jack of All Trades and Fragile.
  • Chris: "I'm also a teenager, so I can cause a lot of mayhem and destruction. Especially if some stuffy church elder is telling me I can't dance in my own town." Abilities include Thick Skinned, Spaz Attack, Self Sufficient and Awkward.

Customization allows you to choose your gender, skin color, head shape, eyes, nose, mouth, hair, shirt, pants and shoes. Hats are currently locked.

Family Guy Online is Debuting this Fall

There's a Family Guy Online in the works. Yup. While we never expected this Seth MacFarlane cartoon to be turned into an MMO, IGN noticed that Fox is making the game a reality this fall.

Not many details have surfaced yet about the game, but here's what we know so far:

  • You can currently register for the closed beta on the game's site.
  • According to a post on the game's Facebook page, it will be 100% browser-based.
  • When you register, you'll get some Clams. Cash and Clams are the dual currencies in the game. I received 60 Clams during the registration process.
  • According to the site, "Clams are earned by doing things and accomplishing tasks that you might be challenged to complete."

From the looks of the e-mail you receive after registering, the game's team has certainly captured the humor from the show. You can read the e-mail after the jump. We'll keep an eye out for more details as they're revealed. Giggity.
