Subbing Brd for LV50+ SMN..¿¿¿

Hello everyone,
this is my 1st post and as the title states i am wondering what everyone thinks of subbing BRD to a lv 50+ SMN.
I understand that they would only have one song up at a time however i am thinking of only one song anyway lol....Balad.
I understand our class is seen as Main / Backup Healers, but I think that when the PT has WHM, main healing slot is taken, so if there happened to be any other backup healer the SMN could sub BRD, the mages&pld get Balad, and the SMN could possibly do focus more on MB, MELE, Aerial Armor, Earthen Ward, Hastga, Ect. and just have to keep balad up. Now if the pt has a brd I agree this would be not as useful as WHM sub.
Please give me info on why this would/wouldnt work, also what about a whm/brd after lv 50....

Nah, you always need that backup healing. What if the whm goes down? What if the whm get silenced? What happens if the tank just needs more healing? Carby can't heal that quick. For blm and smn you need a subjob with cure, that's why blm/smn isn't that great of a combo.

I was actually thinking the same thing, was just an idea that i MAY try someday...PT willing lol. If anyone has any posts regarding the Positives (If any) please do, I would like to see both sides of an argument before I make a Decision. Also if you want to post any more negative I would welcome that too. I DO agree that WHM is best sub (however i have never subbed anything else to form a basis for subbing anything else, mainly because of the desire to get a PT, lol.)

Well, the positives of a ballad or something would be nice. However any good bard can keep the ballads on mages and the sort. All that someone else /brd would do is allow the brd main to sing an etude for each mage. From what I've heard, the etudes aren't THAT good. And from what I know, for a whm mnd only matters for cure V and debuffs mainly, and a 2nd ballad might just be more efficient for more cures throughout the fight. The +int would help the blm, as they normally don't have the mp problems (have more mp, need to control casts to not get hate, conserve MP, etc.)

But whm is easily better in the overall ;)

wiki, you need /whm to heal. peoplewant the insurance that you can main heal when the whm rests. or that u can main heal by your self all the time..

What if, as the OP said, there was no Brd? I think Sum/Brd could indeed work, if you already had main heal (whm) and backup (blm/whm, rdm) then you could keep Ballad on the mages, have your avatar out for fighting, participating in SC/MB, and you can sing a song on the melee and the mob yet, too.

The problem is /Brd gives you 0 mp for a sub. And hardly anything useful in way of job abilites.

SomethinDarkandAFire? I have a pearl to that. My fiancee, Niekolass brought me in. ^^;
