i'm not sure if this idea has come up on the forum before, but i'm interested in starting an LS which is strictly for trading. the goal would be to let everyone in shiva have one, so that any trading needs can be done in the LS, without wasting time in town (with a linkshell, it can be done ANYWHERE, assuming people have it equipped). this idea came up from someone else in game, so kudos goes to them for thinking the idea up first.
anyone interested in helping with this enormous task? it would be daunting indeed to get EVERYONE (or close to) in this linkshell. word of mouth is the best hope

Can I ask from whence that impression came?
you can have as many members as you want just only 64 or so are allowed on the LS at the same time.
This idea is great in thought, but how do you plan to moderate the hoards of spam that will constantly be jirating through the /l chat?
Let me tell you about free for all link pages and free Classified ad websites (having started a couple myself in the past). The people who visit them are people who are advertising, not necessarily people who are looking for something.
You're trying to provide an alternative to something that is already easily accessible, efficient and convinient for both the buyer and the seller. The time it takes for you to spam the linkshell, find a buyer, select a meeting spot, go to this spot, and conduct the trade... is probably comparable to the time it takes to go to town and buy/sell on the auction house.
That aside, I think the fatal flaw would be how widespread you would be distributing these pearls... assuming your plan was to get everyone on shiva... you will have to have hoards of pearlsack holders. If someone is kicked out of the linkshell for spamming it like mad, they could easily get back in... especially if they have a friend who is a sack holder (because you can't see who invites who to the best of my knowledge).

hahah i dunno...guess i was bored from all the same ol crap and wanted to try something new. i knew this idea is like communism: good on paper, but bad in action. guess it boils down to me being bored =P
I think the ls would have way too much spam to even know whats going on and see who wants what you have.
It's not a really horrible idea... but maybe work it on a smaller scale... Make a LS of people who are obscenely good at trading, and have them walke routes around the the world. If someone wants to trade, they do it with the peopel in this LS, maybe for a "finder's fee" of sorts...

but if you trade in strictly items,,, that makes for somethign interesting... like trading in synth materials... but you would have to find people who coudl keep the stuff they have for trade seperate from their own personal stocks...

I don't believe there is a limit actually, I heard Xtreme at it's height once had over 200 on
