The other day when I was in Lower Jueno looking for a quest item for 2 friends a Qudauv Shell r something like that for rank 5 mission I was checking one persons bazaar and he cut me out before I got to look through it so I went to check again and he told me to stop and said he had blisted me and "to F??? off" I was shocked why did he even bother to put up a bazaar beats me
#28 Sep 05 2004 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
I don't know why the people would even put up a bazaar if they don't want people going through their stuff they want to be sold >.> just take em off sale, not too hard -_-

about the examining issue... it's not like SquareEnix put it into the game for people to **** other people off, thus ruining the community (which is what the whole game stands for) so it makes everyone harder to get parties and whatnot so eventually the game becomes harder. It's just a system designed to see what others are wearing and comepare to what you're wearing (at least for me) and see if I'm up to date (mage class shouldn't care that much, but I'm usually the tank :P

Grimshady, that's hilarious. And unbelievable. Also kind of difficult to comprehend why anyone would say that to Glitterngld... weird. People are so weird!!!!

But there was this one person who was examining everybody on the dock in Selbina. When they checked me out, I wanted to see if they'd examine me again. So I changed from my fishing gear into my normal armor, and lo and behold, yes... I was examined, and not even a /check from far away, but a march-over-to-you-and-stare /check, and I was even trying to hide behind some crates.

I felt kind of creeped out because they didn't say anything. I mean, sometimes people can't figure out what I am, but my sword is RDM only now, so that's not an issue. I dunno... creepy.

As most others that have posted here, I don't mind being examined, however, I do put the filter on just to elliminate the message, I mean between pt chat, ls chat, and battle Spam, the last hting I need is Blah examines you. Anyway, if you don't like it, put the filter on, and those of you that do the /em examines you... don't that is just annoying and immature...
#31 Sep 07 2004 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
Meh, my feelings are weird about it. I hate the same person spamming examine's, but it is a feature in the game... So oh well, you can't win them all :(

The odd thing is that i was examing a Japanese Dragoon in AF Type II, and he happen to catch my Search comment which was in Romanjii and he said Japanese? ... look ok. I think they don't like NA examining them, i'm not fully japanese, but i have noticed that if they know your Japanese they threat you diffrently.

1.) I personally don't check someone unless I have a reason too. Like if I think my tank has lizard skin on and I am lvling my 38 whm. If he has a problem with it he can leave the pt ^^. As far as everywhere else? I don't see a point in 'comparing myself' to others. I do my own thing and I wear what I want to wear. I have never had a complaint about my healing abilities and have actually had compliments. So why should I change because some other whm has 150k gloves on or whatever?

With that aside, the only other people I check is if they are a friend and ask me too. Sometimes I will check on accident but I try to apologize. Why? cause yes I do find it annoying when someone not in my pt /checks me. I find it hella annoying when people spam /em examines you multiple times too. Why? cause I am one of those rarer individuals who like to read pt and ls chat. combine the /checks with everything else? and things get confusing enough.

Before someone mentions it, cause I know they will, I do know that you can chat filter emotes and all that jaz. Yet why should I be forced to conform? Why can't people just get over their insecurities and not check me randomly?

2.) Ok to all those historically ignorant. In Medieval times, wearing your helmet in a town is offensive. This rule of etiqette is kinda like wearing shaking a person's hand comes from. So when they guy told you that it was rude to wear it in town? he was probably laughing as well but his point was more role playing intended.

For those who don't know wear shaking a person's hand came from? It was an act to show that you had nothing in your hand (i.e. a sword). Sense this all came from European medieval times, it is why Japanese historically don't either.

3.) As far as Japanese having a problem with the US? I agree that they do but so what? If you as a people and a country had been forced to 'conform' to another country and a completely alien culture. You might still hold a grudge too. Think of all the people in the south who don't realize the war is over. I am not justifying racism but understanding leads to peace and harmony. Which is really what you are after. ^^

In the end though, Japanese women are like goddesses of beauty to me so does that count? lol ^^ For the record though, I do not play the game to pick up chicks or idolize Japanese. I just like the game ^^ My interest in the Japanese language, culture, and people is somewhat related but by default. They created the game so it can't be completely separate. lol

P.S. Uberpally you're awesome ^^ you may not like his language but he does have a point. This post now has 32 posts and of those 32 posts only 2 dissagree with the main post and general consensus. Once more Vorrt's first comment against the general consensus was largely ignored by everyone. So basically everyone has been having a group hug singing kumbaiya! together. Which I would find kinda annoying too if I didn't dissagree with the point being made. Why? cause forum topics are generally confrontational. So when you click on a topic with 32 posts you are 'expecting' a fight ^^

complain to square if you dont like to be examined, if im giving the option, im going to do it.

Ceraphine: Book smarts will only get you so far...

1)What is the difference between you "conforming" by using the chat filters to cater to your liking and gameplay style and people who like to /check "conforming" to what you believe is right and stop examining people...or better yet "get over their insecurities"...I automatically suspect anyone who throws around the "insecurity" card as someone who most likely has that problem themself...you dont think your logic is twisted?

2)Historically ignorant would mean someone who has a track record of being ignorant...I think what you meant to say was "People who arent as interested in History as I am"...be careful with your fun facts, I know people who have read themselves retarded and socially inept...you just may become "Hysterically Ignorant" ^^

3)I really dont know what you are talking about here, and personally I dont think you do either, but saw the oppurtunity to use the word "conform" again and jumped all over it...cheers!

P.S-Agreeing with UberPally just discounted anything you said previous to this ...before you jump on someones bandwagon, check their other posts and get a better profile of who you are teaming with

So, Is this the fight that you were looking for? cause you will not win a battle of wit with me, I can promise you that ^^

Lmao good point but when you put it into real life scenarios it became hilarious but seriously i don't see why people get offended from you examining them it seems kind of childish

I really dont mind people checking me to see what lvl, job or equiptment I have. But the other day I was out farming and this JP was by me and checked me about 15 times. Then when I logged back on the next day or later that day he was still there he did the same thing, checking me about 10 times. I understand checking one or two times but 10-15 is a little excessive especially when you just saw the person not even a day ago in the same spot. It got annoying

LOL Sakitumi ^^ I have more than booksmarts. Just because you dissagree with someone doesn't make them or you stupid. There is a reason it is called 'opinions'. ^^

1.) you believe I am insecure? how? I am not the one who is checking other people because I don't feel comfortable with my own gear (which was an explanation someone gave). However I am sure I am insecure about some things, we all are. If you think you are special? you are deluding yourself. You automatically think I am suspect because I said 'insecure'? I think that people shouldn't be afraid of using words because they are politically incorrect.

2.) Ignorance is the lack of knowledge. Historically Ignorance means the lack of knowledge about history. There is truth in saying everyone has some ignorance about history. Yet in the context I used it; it was clear that I was referring to ignorance regarding those particular issues. So you would rather I used nicer words that didn't have a danger to hurt someone's feelings? I say why? Why should I cater to someone's insecurities? If the shoe fits why not wear it? If someone can't honestly accept the fact that they are 'ignorant' about something then they are tieing to much emotion into the English language. Their just words, why tie so much emotion into those words as to allow yourself to get emotionally scared over them?

3.) LOL... I thought it was obvious but I guess not. To make it more clear. I was referring to the idea that Japanese are racist against the US. I was saying that they have plenty of reason too that goes beyond the end of World War II. America makes 'everyone' conform (oh no! I said it again what will you ever think of me ^^) to American ideals, culture, and language. A proud culture would not like that.

In fact America itself is a proud culture. Imagine how Americans would react to some other culture forcing themselves on us? Oh wait! we are already reacting to that idea and have been for decades. Ironically it was a fear in the 80s that Japan's economy would take over the world. Now its a fear that in 50 years everyone will be saying 'el hablo espaniol'?

Now is that clear enough?

P.S. I could really careless if you 'throw' away all that I have said because I like what Uberpally has said. If you look past the lack of proper english, spelling, and the usage of bad language I am sure you can begin to see Uberpally isn't as dumb as you think he is.

Believe it or not, I have read other posts of his and the same is true with those. He is saying something very intelligent. You just have to get over yourself and actually 'listen'. Now if you still hold onto the belief that he is stupid? fine. If you still wish to catagorize my statements with Uberpally's and throw it into the trash ben because of my choices? fine. ::shrugs:: you're loss. I simply type this because I enjoy discussion.

You think you can beat me in an honest debate? You better come up with more than "You are silly grow up" attitude. ^^ I also advise that you read some of Sun Tzu's work. You would realize that underestimating people isn't a positive trait that leads to good results ^^ lol people loose wars that way.

Im responding to this because it is interesting.

I personally could care less if people check me, and could care less if they like me checking them or not. Everyone in my party will be checked, and for good reason. I need to know as the healer who is gonna need the most attention. I need to know if the BLM has lvl 12 armor and will die from one AOE attack. I need to know if anyone in the party has wares i can use to make food (i sometimes find good stuff in quantities less then 12). I need to know if our puller is using ranged weapons, or is gonna try and voke pull (sadly this happens way too often). So in short if you dont like it too bad. It there to be used, and there are good reasons to check people. Other then those situations, i rarely check people unless i am just runnning around healing.

As far as the "discussion" that has formed here goes, i have a few comments.

I am not sure how you feel america has "FORCED" Japan or the Japanese to conform to anything. First off, we have no control in their country politically, or governmentally. They are free to practice their religions, beleifs, morals, language, ect.

Maybe you read a different history book then i, and i can freely admit that i am no history expert, but i just dont see how they have been forced to conform to anything.

As for uberpally is concerned, i cant even read the whole post, it makes my head hurt. besides the terrible language, anyone who starts a post with ******************* pretty much means what their going to say is useless.

Thanks for keeping me entertained at work :)

Funny Story...turns out the person I was replying to in this thread is someone on my friends list in the game, and someone who has been of significant help to me...lmao...what a world...

Ceraphine: I will continue this debate with you because I still think some of your views are twisted, but more importantly, because I embrace this type of conversation, and while doing so, always keep an open mind to new idea's and theory ^^

Also, i know Im crazy, and I like to think I have it all figured out, but its only because I do have it all figured out :P Even at my workplace, Im constantly analyzing their practice and convincing myself, it could be better, if only...but thats my "insecurity" I guess...I think your extremelly bright, and can probably spell "extremely" better than me (I know I spelled it different that time, I figure I got a better chance of spelling it right, atleast once)

So, anyway, the main topic here is about ppl checking others, and honestly, I think its being blown out of proportion...For "insecurities" to even come into play, to me, is ridiculous...why cant it just be as simple as curiosity? For me inparticular, its all a significant part of the game...I enjoy checking ppl and seeing what they are dealing with...I dont make it a habit to check everyone I see, but if I notice someone run by with some interesting looking gear, I will definatley examine, if for nothing else, to see what I have to look forward to later in the game...I really think the topic is being stretched when it gets to the point of insecurities being mentioned...many ppl play games like this as a means of escape from the real world problems and insecurities they have...I dont think much of that carries over to Vanadiel when they log on...but that can also just be me and my ignorance :P

I really cant comment on #2 in your post, because I believe in feelings and not emotion...I think emotions are a shortcut to actual feelings, and imho are bootleg!

#3 I just flat out disagree...I dont beleive in what u said about Japanese having to conform to our way of life and what not...I do admit I should look into it more before I speak on it, because I have never been one to get overenthuised about history...It wasnt until I got older and out of school that I learned to appreciate history, and thats only because I was then able to decide what aspects of history I wanted to be educated in, rather than having what the school thought I should know rammed down my throat...but knowing what I do know now, and what I do believe in, I can say I disagree...mostly because the generation we are dealing with were not/are not directly affected by the history you speak of...and again, INHO, any influence america has over young JP now, is due to the JP, like every other country, wanting to be like america...we are cooler than the 80's, there is no denying that :P
But I just have never been one to sympathize with those types of arguments...a good example would be a black person in their 20's who constantly dwells on racism and slavery, when in fact, that same person hasnt been DIRECTLY affected by the latter, and everyone experianced racism in some way shape or form...why dwell on something so "historic" and obvious when it does nothing to change or better the future...i do believe its good to know your history, and embrace, but to make it an active part of your life is self destructive

I apologize for responding so late to this post, and if my thoughts seems alittle mixed up, its because Im posting this in between calls at work...but on an end note, I must say...

You are Trippin in reguards to defending UberSallys rambling!!
I think even he was shocked to see someone in his corner haha

Look forward to your reply A~ ^^

Hello Sakitumi thank you for the compliment ^^ but I don't think of myself that way really... I just like to debate view points. Sometimes I don't even agree with the viewpoints I argue. lol ... But this is not one of those times. ^^

1.) to check someone or not to check someone, that is the question. ^^ While it is true that you are given the option and are certainly free to do so. Whether people are justified or not in doing so is not nearly as important as the fact that some people are offended by it. I believe that examining someone for some specific reason is ok. I don't believe that you have to specifically ask someone to do it. Yet that does not change the fact that some people don't like it and are offended. Who's right and who is wrong is immaterial at this point. What was material is how your actions are reacted to by someone else. If you don't mind pissing people off randomly that you don't even know; then by all means who am I to critic. Yet in the same light, don't complain when those same people remember you and choose to do something in the future that you think is without cause.

2.) Feelings are the by product of emotions. Emotions are before feelings as they are broader and less defined. So I don't aggree that emotions are any different than feelings. Feelings are just more defined and refinied emotions.

3.) Ok I will explain how Japan had to conform. First off when they first established relations with Europe and the US there was a very real possibility that Englang, France, Germany, Spain, or America would just come in and 'establish' a colony on the mainland. In order to prevent this they opened up to trade. They realized that in the end they would need to learn how to defend themselves. Japanese had just emerged from a very bloody and warlike time period of their history but what they faced in Western Civilization was a war machine that was wholely different. So different that Face to Face combat with swords was outdated. So Japan sent its bright students to American schools to be taught Engineering and other Scientific and Engineering fields. Then when they came back they started updating Japan and Japans military to compete with the Western Civilization. In case you guess, this is case in point #1 of Japan submitting to Western culture.

Then at the end of World War 2 Japan was forced to surrender and give up all of its old government. America forced Japan to form a constitution and establish a democracy. This is a well known fact and is also cast in point #2 of Japan submitting to Western Culture.

After World War 2 Japan rebuilt their country and continued what they were doing a century before of copying the United States. Everything the US did Japan copied, analyzed, and did better. Now on the surface there doesn't seem like submitting in this but think about it more. To copy the US you can't just copy our jet aircrafts. You have to copy the reason the US came up with Jet Aircrafts. The reason the US created the internet. The reason we created computers. That is apart of Western Culture that they had to absorb. Thus this is my case in point #3 of Japan submitting to Western Culture.

Now Sakitumi does have a point that all of the major changes happened a long time ago. Yet I do not believe the referrence to some Black people's dwelling on the racism and slavery is an accurate comparison. A Black person consciously chooses to be asborbed by such emotions and realities. A Japanese person grows up with it. In the beginning half of Japanese culture was violently against the idea of absorbing Western Culture into their own culture in order to defend themselves. Ever watch the movie "The Last Samurai"? that movie was set in the same time frame as I was talking about. It was a movie but the political forces they were depict was really from our past. The established government won and in the end Japan moved on. Yet that feeling that they shouldn't have to absorb Western Culture remained. If nothing else happened things might be different. Japan's culture might have had time to get over it. Yet World War #2 happened and I bet that you can still detect residual radiation at ground zero of the bomb blasts.

Now you may read all this and not agree with my view point and that is fine. Yet it seemed that no one understood how I could say Japan is racist and is justified in being racist. My viewpoint is that lets just be thankful that Japan is an intelligent mature culture that doesn't send suicide bombers to crash into American cities. Cause the Middle East isn't the only region of the world that America messes with ^^

Also, please don't get me wrong. I believe America it's closest allies are the world's closest chance to world peace and democracy. (not the UN) I also do not believe Terrorism is justifiable no matter what anyone has done to the terrorists. I believe that our war against terrorism is the only solution. Diplomacy might be nice but for diplomacy to work both sides have to be willing to negotiate. You can't negotiate with someone who wants you dead.

I really dont mean to get into the middle of this obviously educated disccusion. I dont remeber all the facts about WW2, nor do i know all the history of japan prior to WW2. I did however see a discovery channel special on the samurai, which took u all the way through WW2, and there are some things i want to point out.

#1 Japan choose to adapt some of the practices of western civilization, as they had not yet themselves conceived guns (im going to use this as an example). They had not developed firearms, but were exposed to firearms from western civilization. But to say that any country could have gone into japan and just taken over, it not a factual statement. Maybe you feel thats what japan thought, or maybe there is some history that suggests that could happen. However it didint, and not because the japanese adapted to western culture. Just because they learned how to make firearms from the western culture, does not mean the western culture decided not to settle there and take over. I beleive this is an opnion of yours, and not neccessarily fact.

#2 as for the WW2 situation, may i remind you that Japan attacked the US. They may have had fear for there safety, but they did initiate the attack. And as for the bomb site, i must remind you they were warned to surender or it would happen. They choose to not surrender, and therefore suffered. Wheather you think they should have to surrender or not, makes no difference. They attacked us, and our only choice at that point was to have them surrender. I also must say that the bomb ended the war, and the US didnt go into japan and take over, and make them conform to western way of life. I beleive we actually helped re-establish some sort of governing council, so as to begin the rebuilding of japan. which included mostly japanese people instilling their beleifs.

Im not saying the US has done nothing wrong to Japan, and im also not saying Japan did nothign wrong to the US. But to say that Japan has every right to be racist to the US for this is kinda closed minded IMHO. In saying that, you should also agree that americans have the right to be racist towards Japan, because they bombed us first. Or how about if americans have the right to be racist towards all Indian cultures (middle eastern) because someone from their bombed our world trade center. My mother used to say something that makes perfect sense, no matter how much i disagreed as a child.

"Two wrongs never make a right"

If you show me someone who was in world war 2 who says they have a right to be racist towards americans, i could maybe understand a little bit. But to say that all Japanese have the right to be racist towards people they have never met, and who have never done anything to them, seems like a long shot to me.

Just my viewpoint :)

EDIT**

Ohh forgot to say also, the comment about japan and suicide bombers, needs to be rethought. Although they havent sent suicide bombers since the war, i am sure being as history smart as you are that KAMAKAZE means something to you.

wow, that was educational :P

1. Im kinda stuck on my viewpoint here still...I just dont think its right to cater to people who think the world revolves around them...those are the ppl with the real insecurities...For instance, the person who reacts in a negative way to you checking them, and actually gets "offended"?!?! Reminds me of the kooks that force supreme court judges to remove the 10 commandments from their chamber because "its offends them and their beliefs" I think that is one of the saddest things about todays society, is that we cater to the minorty...In the instance of the supreme court judge, there were 10's of thousands of people (Im feeling like thats a VERY conservative #) that supported the judges right to have the 10 commandments present...but we went ahead and made a decision based on what would make this one miserable man happy...and alot more people can relate to the 10 commandments then they can to that one persons beliefs...this is the reason why the term Politically Correct is disgusting to me..its basically a way of sugarcoating **** to appease selfish people who are too easily offended...and an excellent example of someone being easily offended over something ridiculous would be the guy who is pissed off and feels violated because someone examined his character in a video game...be real.

2. I have had the feelings VS emotion debate forever since not many ppl have thought of seperating the two, and while you make a good case, I just have a different definition of what emotions are than you and most ppl do...I will give an example...

Spike Lee makes a movie/documentry about a charismatic serial killer, based on a true story...You sit watching this film for 90 minutes and witness the main character go from successful social interactions, to maniacal killings spree's and finally to remorseful regret toward the end when his life is now on the line, lets say due to being caught and facing the death penalty...Many ppl can watch a movie like this and toward the end of the movie, actually feel bad/sad for the killer...Spike Lee can work the camera around this character in ways that will make you feel sympathy for him and feel like you understand him, which you may...but the fact is, all those feelings are emotional and based off of nothing but the way he was represented by this one person (Spike Lee)...to me that is emotion and its bootlegg...because at the same time, the family member of this killers victem (in real life) has warranted hate for this man...and that is real...that is feeling...that is a direct impact from the killers actions that lead this person to feel that hate...and that to me is real...Im not sure if that was a good example, and I really wish I was at home right now and was able to respond to this while not being distracted at work :P

3> I found this section of your post most informative and appreciate the brief history lesson ^^ However, I dont feel qualified to go into this discussion with you, because as I said before, Im at work, and cant stay on this page for more than a minute w/o my phone ringing, and also, and more importantly, as much as I love living in America and the opportunities it has provided me, I strongly question our government and what is and is not real...Im somewhat of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to American Government, and in no way believe everything I read in history books reguarding how and why we have conducted business the way we have, and the way we do today...Bush is a puppet, and voting is inconsequential IMHO :P

I gotta say, the one stand out statement in your last post, and the one I disagree with most is...

"...Japan is racist and justified in being racist"

I just dont feel that racism can be justified, period.

so begins Round 3...Ding! ^^

*interrupts Battle of "wits"*

Not ranting, I just found this odd/funny. While camping Jack, this level 9 thief, if memory serves, runs by...
thiefmithra (don't know name) examines you

About 2-3 minutes later, she's running by again...

thiefmithra examines you

When she ran by the first time, she didn't leave field of vision so she saw me move a bit and beat up some gobs and orcs. She also saw that I didn't change eq or anything...

Why did she examine me the second time?

I'd like to think it was my dashing demeanour. :P

Also, I examined someone without asking for permission in Konschtat because I didn't want to type "/sea <t>". A few seconds later, I voked the Goblin Butcher that was aggro'd to him. Obviously he didn't have a problem with me checking him.

That is all... back to the Battle. Hajime! *chops air and joins Kloe in bunker*

1.) |hmmm.| I aggree that it is not a fact that we could have gone in and taken over the country becaus we didn't. However all you hvae to do is look at China. They refused to trade with Europe; what did Europe do? took over the entire continent. All Japan had to do was look at China, one of their biggest enemies and see how easily Europe destroyed their defenses. I think that it is not unreasonable to suggest that the majority of japanese feared Europe because of this. So they sent their scholars over to the US to learn how to advance their technology. Sense Western technology is what beat them in the first place...

Trust me, Western Technology is what allowed Europe in general to colonize much of the world in under 1 century.

2.) Racism is an extreme emotion and generally speaking no extreme emotion is really a good thing. Yet when dealing with people you have to realize that what you feel is right/wrong, good/bad, and/or moral/immoral is immaterial. When I said that a Japanese person is justified in holding some racist view against the US I mean that it is a valid view point. It may not be a good one or reasonable one; yet it is 'understandable'.

Also, Japan's attack on pearl harbor was a 'retaliation' against US oil embargoes. At the time Japan was taking over other nations through hostile conflict and we as a nation decided to give Japan 'economic' reasons to dissest in such activities instead of military reasons to do so. During that period of time the US was extremely issolationist and did not want a conflict. We were in the middle of a great depression and didn't need to fight someone else's war. However Japan feared that the US was going to be forced into military conflict one way or another; the theory was that the US "Oil Embargo" was only the beginning. So the attempt was to deal a crippling blow to the US military that would take years to recover from. Obviously they underestimated the US's ability to make war. At the end of the war, there was no 'we helped them'. It was 'surrender completely or die'. Japan didn't believe it the first time and so they got another. They wanted to keep their emperor and so they got another. In the end Japan submitted to US's terms of total surrender. Also make no mistake about this; We "forced" them to create a new government. Much of Japan was untouched and so their original government was already functional. They had a couple centuries under their belt and there is no reason to believe they couldn't recover from loosing the war. Japan did not 'need' the US to rebuild their government. My point in stating this is not to be pro-Japan but to show that there is always another side to any story. I am not saying that Japan was right or wrong; or that the US was right or wrong. I am simple stating what I know of as history. Only through understanding the past can we hope to understand the present and take control of the future.

1.) I understand your viewpoint and on some level I agree with you. My point is that there is no reason to insult people who you don't even know over an issue that you don't really care about. Can you honestly tell me that it truly matters to you what their equipment is or not? I mean to the point of being reasonably sure they are not Japanese or anyone else you think would be offended by it? The ten commandment's issue was different and you know it was :P The Ten Commandment's was a representation of faith and justice. The idea was that it was shown as one of the original forms of justice. Yet in the end, it obviously matter to a great many people. I personally don't think the US Supreme Court had any business telling what a single county in a single state could and could not have in their county office. It should have been a matter left up to the State's supreme court. The point is that it is reasonable to be courtious to other people's view points so long as it does not run contrary to your own. Some people take this to excess but that does not mean the principle of it is flawed.

2.) Again I understand what you are saying but there is a better word to describe that is already within the English language. ^^ That is perspective. I am sure everyone understands that there are very little truths in the world and what truths there are is largely centered around science. Just because Spike Lee helped relate the emotion of a Death Row inmate's life doesn't fly against the victim's emotion. They are two sides of a coin. My belief is that we need to change the justice system entirely anyways.

Or Justice system isn't about justice. It is about revenge and punishment. I think that a more educated society would realize that revenge and punishment does not solve anything at all. It may prevent one person from continuing a series of murders but it doesn't help society prevent others from following that same path. For felony crimes there should be two catagories. a.) is for rehibilitation for whatever issue the criminal has b.) if a criminal has no hope of rehibilitation then they should be executed. Now understand that by criminal offenders convicted of one or more felonies; I am referring to criminals who are deemed a detriment to society. Running a stop light doesn't qualify. ^^ I think you would find a lot more 'career criminals' willing to be rehibilitated if we adopted that philosophy. I think you would find a great deal more interest in trying to help people be rehibilitated too.

3.) To find racism un justifiable is to say that racism is without reason. To say that racism is unreasonable is to refuse to understand it. To not understand racism is to allow it to continue. Only through understanding ourselves and others can we hope to gain control. I personally favor order to chaos. Sense through the law of entropy disorder will encrease in any system given time; we are the ones left to counteract that and instill order.

To say Racism is justifiable is not to say that its right or wrong. It is simple to state that you can understand where they are coming from.

Please forgive me if I sound condensending or whatever. I honestly do not hold my opinions in any higher regard than anyone else. Yet I do believe in myself and hense require people to actually debate my views before I am willing to change them ^^

Wow, this is really a great conversation/debate we have going on here. Aside from not being slanderous, something quite common in brawls such as this, neither of you actually seem to give up! So, below are my suggestions.

1. Can we stop organizing our thoughts in numbered paragraphs?
2. I think it’s probably quite clear that we’re all quite off subject at this point in time. I’m sure if you actually scroll up to the top of the page and read the first post, you might actually remember what it’s about…
3. Yes, I’m still using numbers. Leave me alone.
4. I think it’s quite apparent neither of you is going to give up on your sides, as I never do, because I’m always right. ;) So why don’t we either move our conversation to another forum that is related to something that is more in the category of “Subject Jumping Never Ending Debating” and leave this poor “checking” thread alone. I think several people have expressed their opinions on checking, and I do think that the majority of people think that it’s not a huge deal to check someone, but some people do find it offensive. Personally, I don’t mind when anyone checks me. Although, I don’t take pride in it, and I don’t boast the attention I get from checks either. I understand entirely why some people find it offensive, but that doesn’t mean that I agree with them, nor am I required to do so. I don’t mind when anyone gets upset, and if they do I won’t check them any further to provoke them. I don’t often check people, and when I do it is usually only a member of my party. I think the language barrier is obviously a factor, and I do agree with the statement that Japanese players may be indifferent with American players…and I honestly don’t blame them. I quit FFX for two months, about a week after the PS2 release. I vividly remember so many newcomers that drove me up the wall, I can only imagine how they treated even higher level characters. Regardless, now that I have accomplished no good in ending your debate, I think I will continue on with what I was doing before I got myself caught up in this mindless pit of ‘insecurities’. Can you only imagine if any of us were proven wrong?! I am assured that each of you has (1) added this page to your favorites (2) is constantly refreshing as we speak for an update (3) or is frantically checking their email or trying to get to a PC to see if there is a response on the “checking” thread.

Nice reading your posts, and chao :)

On a lighter note I saw someone do a really funny series of emotes in Jeuno the other day. It basically went like this:

Sometaru examines you.
Sometaru's examining skill increases .2!
Sometaru's examining skill reaches Level 100!
Sometaru learns the examining skill "Examinaga".
