Jiro Dreams of SushiFollow

I don't tend to watch too many documentaries, but when one catches my eye I usually end up enjoying it quite a bit. Murderball was the last one to really do so, and it was spectacularly. This time, rotten tomatoes brought my attention to Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

Jiro Ono is a 85 years old Sushi Chef who owns and works in Sukiyabashi Jiro, a Michelin 3-star sushi restaurant. Sukiyabashi Jiro is an odd restaurant and Jiro Ono is an odd man. The restaurant is quite small (seating at most 10 I believe), with a clean but not especially luxurious atmosphere, in a very unassuming location, and with a bathroom outside and around the corner. Price s are high (around $300 USD) and reservations are long (about a month in advance). It's impossible to judge the quality of the food as merely a viewer, but what is clear is Jiro's extreme dedication to his craft. He is 85 years old, works almost ever day, HE is very determined in his routine and yet also extremely dedicated to constantly improving.

If it sounds remotely interesting, then it's worth checking out.

For $300, that sushi better be an all natural alternative to Viagra.

I think I'll stick with Inoko Express Sushi. Mr. Inoko is around 70 or so, also works every day, and now owns a chain of 5 restaurants here in town - Inoko Hibachi Express x3, and Inoko Sushi & Grill, a formal hibachi with waitresses in kimono in a really awesome Japanese style building.

But he personally staffs Inoko Sushi Express and still hand crafts every delicious maki roll, and most of them are $7-8 at most.
