Leveling Pace

Just curious to know how fast everyone levels.
Are you gung ho leveling all the time, or do you pace yourself.

Decided to take a break from leveling when I hit 40 and work on quests and just thought I'd toss this question around.

Also interested in how long it took everyone to go from lvl 40 to lvl 50 so I know how to pace myself and what to expect.

I'm sure folks starting out would be interested in knowing what to expect with this game.

Started FFXI in Mid April and hit 40 2 weeks ago.
Lvled War to 30
Lvled Monk sub to 10 (sorry, I was in a hurry and had no one to teach me the value of a non-gimped sub)
Lvled Advance (drk) to 40
Lvled a bunch of the other jobs, but none higher than 8

Well I'm off and on. I took a LOT of time off of leveling to enjoy other parts of the game and raise money to keep my Monk up to par (and that went to crap at 40 ><). However, now that I have my LS SP, we level a LOT, probably a little too often. When we do level, we are averaging 3-4k exp per hour so we level fast. It's not uncommon to hit 2 levels a night and we are all at 45 now (some are about to hit 45). My goal with this SP is to get in the 50s in the pace we have, then start doing more things outside of leveling. Hopefully we will find a balance between the two as the higher the level, the more places you can go. The last thing I want to do is become a level ***** and miss out on the rest of the game. :-b

EDIT: I wasn't trying to insult any high level players by calling them level whores previously. LoL. So PLEASE don't think that. I just know some people that their whole goal in life is to hit 75 and dont' care what it takes. You miss SOOOO much by doing that. I've got time. :-)

well, seeing as im a samurai, and i need 1.5 million gil worth of gear at level 40 to not be considered gimp, its going to take a while. but once im done farming, i need nearly no equipment untill lv54, so the leveling itself will be quite fast.

you probally have the same trouble as a drk though, needing at least 1 sniper ring past 40 not to be "that gimp drk who misses constantly" same as i do, only you dont need 500k gloves a jujitsu and fuma like i do.
but we are both in the same boat at lv59, needing 2.5 million for a haubergon, to again avoide being gimp compared to other good sam or drk.

but once you have all the equips that you need to have, levels come pretty fast. i leveled a bit after i bought my kote, to see the dmg difference on IT xp mobs, and i went from 40-42 in a matter of hours, even though i didnt have my sniper and missed so much that i would have kicked myself from the PT if i could. although i have lost close to 6k xp dieing in promyvion BCNM, and im now 41 at like 4k again.
