That's because in order for it to fly it had to be created from ultra-light materials that couldn't handle the pressure. I agree that it was like a Handyman, and most likely the organs were getting crushed each time it went deep into the water.

Well, I understood it was getting crushed, especially in the depths of Rapture. The depths of Battleship Bay didn't seem like it should have been enough, but the scene showed it reacting like it was getting struck (the crushing) but if I wasn't mistaken it also seems to grasp at it's throat similar to a person trying to get air before it stopped the pursuit and went back to the surface.

I could be wrong, but IIRC Songbird gets struck with some falling debris when he tries to follow Booker below the surface. Scene was pretty disorienting, though, so it's tough to tell.

I'm bothered by a few of the previews shows in trailers, and them not being in the game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXYCNW-FPdM
I don't remember Elizabeth ever about to be executed... did I miss something in my 14 hours straight play over two days?

Also, I know they removed the teaser gameplay scene from E3 with the Horse, but in Steam, the background image occasionally appears as her kneeling over the dead horse, directly from that gameplay demo.

So what do we want to guess as to the first 3 DLC?

Songbird
Daisy Fitzroy
and...
Menarche? (It's my new vocab word!)

I'm actually hoping some of that footage used in the trailers and teasers that didn't make it to the final main story gets used in some of the DLC. Having the city interact more with Elizabeth like in that execution footage would be nice.

I'm not very far in, but I assumed the map at the beginning of the game in the lighthouse was tracking the movement of Columbia. That there were more access points depending on where it happened to be at the time.

The Lutece twins know it'll be in place when they row you there....because they've done it 1000 times.

Speaking of the Luteces

Booker didn't accept the baptism after Wounded Knee, and there for never became Comstock. Then there's the coin flip with the Luteces near the beginning of the game. No matter what Booker chooses, it always lands heads. But every other outcome they have recorded was heads as well. I just figured that scene would have been better as a foreshadowing of Booker's uniqueness compared to the other realities rather than a way to show the whole "choices don't matter" thing. That he should have been that one tails.

It wasn't a great story, but I enjoyed Bioshock 2. It's biggest issue, story wise, was that the Minerva's Den DLC was the best part And if you played it on PC like me, you got it way late as they actually cancelled the PC release until public outcry forced them to do it!.

If you played it, you know you play as a different prototype and it runs concurrently to Bioshock 2, but in a different part of Rapture. But you finish Tenenbaum's story, which was enjoyable.

I've no idea why but that site displays in a narrow band along the right hand side of my browser. Reading 20 linear feet of 2" wide column was more than I felt like taking on.

I started to skim, almost posted some things, re-skimmed, realized that I was in misinterpreting because I was skimming and then gave up. I realize that's not a very satisfactory response to something it looks like you put some time and mental calories into but maybe have a talk with the man in charge. Unless you're in charge, in which case talk to yourself.

On a final note, I don't know why people keep lauding Bioshock as some great work of horror. I enjoyed the story and setting but the "Rwaaar!! Monster in your face!!" bits seemed stock standard to me and none of the varieties of boogeymen really gave me the creeps. Splicers couldn't hold a candle to, say, Stalker's snorks (partially because snorks represented an actual threat which goes far in making something scary).

Snorks are pansies. You really have to watch out for the Snork Eater-Eaters.

Really? I thought "having your daughter kill you so that you and she never exist in millions of worlds, IN SOME OF WHICH YOU'RE BOTH PROBABLY REALLY HAPPY, seems a little drastic." Of course, about an hour before the ending I turned to Nexa and said "it's going to be "oh no, I'M Comstock! Isn't it." She sighed and said "I hope not". Her minor quibble was that Elizabeth didn't say "it's ok, let go now" to Booker as she had with Songbird, thinking it would have been a cleaner juxtoposition of the two characters who were her doomed protector/tormentors. Also, the equivocation of the Vox faction towards the end was heavy handed and lazy. I get the "both sides will do anything to get power" dynamic, but having to make the oppressed minority that rises up into literally child killing mustachioed villains tying damsels to railroad tracks for no apparent reason didn't seem to work effectively. Certainly not as effectively as the Atlas/Fontaine thing in the first game.

It's my personal blog. I'll look into changing the width of the central column a little bit, but that's a task for another day - I'm not so good with coding, so these things are an uphill battle for me.

Well, she was able to round up a little gang of Elizabeths so they couldn't have all been happy Smiley: laugh

The three (or two, depending on how you count) people who would know best, Elizabeth and the Luteces, all seem pretty invested in this plan despite the ability to peer into the millions of worlds. That doesn't mean they're "right" but then you don't have the tools to second guess them either.

Just one of the Luteces. One of them sees it as King Lear (spoiler: not a happy ending for the guy and his kid). I understand it's a video game, and the writing is high handwaive science fiction "how to the buildings float?" "quantum mechanics!" "How do the vigors work?" "Quantum mechanics!" "How.." "Quantum" "I wasn't finished." "You know where this is going, though, right?"

I understand. I understand there had to be a "twist". I see the need for all of that. I just wish it had been delivered more effectively, and maybe less predictably.

A funny lampshade, but I don't think it did the look of Columbia any favors. I might be alone with this complaint, but I was a bit disappointed with the city's aesthetics. Unique aesthetics were essentially the only motivation for Rapture to be where it was; it worked so well because it integrated its underwater motif into everything. Absent the odd skyrail, you could probably transport most of Columbia to any terrestrial location, and the visuals would work about the same.

It's all just 10 miles in the air because "hey, that's different."

A little late the the party here but I only played this game recently.

For all the hype and controversy regarding the story -especially the ending- when I finished the game I was left scratching my head and saying: Wait, that was it? That's what all the fuss was about?

Maybe I'm just jaded and have played too many games and watched to much anime or something, but I called almost all of the plot twists ahead of time, and found the ending to be kind of stupid rather than mind blowing. Am I missing something?
