There's a 50% EXP bonus going on in Diablo 3 for the weekend, by the way. Just found out about it. Working on my replacement HC Crusader. She's up to 56 right now. I went back down to Normal difficulty since I don't really mind the extra amount of time it'll take to level up, and I am not quite strong enough to tackle the difficulty levels with bonuses aside from the EXP bonuses.

Also, Warrior control decks in HS are annoying if you don't run a hard counter. I GG'd when I was at full health because he was at full health with like 25 armor, and I knew that maybe I could beat him, but it would be a long boring process. Back to playing Mage. I need to tune the deck a bit more, but it's pretty fun.

I want to make this Shadowpriest rush deck work, but it's an interesting balance. The goal is to change hero power early and play hyper aggressive, but if you don't catch one of the Shadowform cards early, it still needs to be able to pressure. I've had a bunch of fun with it, and Shadowform makes your hero power maybe the most powerful in the game, IMO. It turns it into 2 damage, unaffected by taunts in the same manner of Mage's Fireblast. If you catch both Shadowform cards, you can make it 3 damage. Makes for nice removal help to free up your aggressive minion play. I think I need to scale back on some of the buff cards I have, removing a couple duplicates in order to insert more draw cards so I can fish for what I need.

Also, I got drunk last night and bought some more packs. Smiley: lol Oh, and also drafted maybe the worst Arena deck I've ever done. I went 1-3 and I only got that one win because the other guy GG'd on turn 3 for no discernible reason (since his board was empty, I assume he caught all his high-mana cards and just had no plays and didn't want to deal with sh*t).

Diablo 3 UI musings: When in Adventure mode, the bottom right hand corner of the map shows how many quests you've completed, as seen here:

Screenshot

But you can't click on the quest icon. It shows you where the quest is on the travel map when you hover over it, but then you have to move your mouse to the location on the map to initiate the warp. If they added in the functionality to show where the specific quest is on hover, why not also let you just click the icon where your cursor already is to bring you there? I mean, I'm not so lazy that I refuse to move my mouse to the location, but it seems like a pretty common sense QoL improvement piggybacked on one that is already implemented.

That screenie kind of made me want to bust out some D3. I don't think I have played in like 6-7 months and I am also trying to level in both PoE and ESO but hey why not a 3rd game?

I just want to put this here as an entry to the "Games I Shouldn't Want But Totally Do" category.

Not sure if anyone else is still playing Hearthstone, but I just found out that you can search for a specific rarity when building or crafting. I knew you could use it to search by name or type in stuff like "draw" to find draw cards, but it can be useful to search by "epic" or whatever, especially if you're looking for stuff to disenchant if you're trying to find the dust to craft something else.

I don't understand card quality. I mean, they have all the same stats, right? It just makes it harder to build a deck to have rares, right?

This is obviously excepting cards that are ONLY rare.

Typically your rates and higher have more specialized effects than Conklin and uncommon cards. Each quality level has a different cost to craft, and you cannot have duplicate legendaries in a deck.

I just mean, like, what's the difference between a Murloc Raider and a golden Murloc Raider?

Or are those considered different cards in the sense that it allows you to have 4 Murloc Raiders in your deck?

Same card, same 'quality'. Golden cards have cooler animations, and disenchant for the full crafting value of the non-golden card. So a golden rare disenchants for 100 dust. You can only have 2 of a card in your deck, and golden cards count the same as non-golden for this purpose.

Last night in my hour before bed gaming time I decided to work on my little Don't Starve world. But within 5mins my guy, that was 89 days old!, was dead and I was back at square one. Instead of re-collecting carrots and despite my fear of battle.net I dusted off my account and opened Hearthstone. I played right through my bed time.

I think I'll be on Hearthstone this weekend. I like the Hunter Champ best so far.

My daily is 5 victories with Mage/Shaman.

I haven't played enough to pick a favorite yet, but I do enjoy Mage. I THINK I like Paladin? I haven't quite decided yet. I feel like my deck might have been missing some key cards that would make it really shine. My Warlock is my highest, at 16.

I dunno if I like my Mage deck right now, though. It's just a recommended basic build, but I find I'm having a lot of trouble in early game. That could just be a string of bad luck with a small sample size, though.

I really like Druid and Hunter in theory, but in practice not so much. Druid's turtling strategy is great... until your opponent polymorphs the super strong minion you just put out. And I feel like that's Druid's only real trick, so it's hard to bait the poly. Hunter I don't have enough experience with to actually say I don't like them.

You can swap a single daily quest, once per day, from what I can tell. When you go to the quests page, there's a little X on the upper right hand of each quest. Click that on the one you want to change, and it'll swap it for a different quest.

I really like Mage, but I can't seem to build a deck I'm happy with. When I catch the right cards, it can be a hilarious amount of destruction, but I feel like I don't have any real backup synergies/strategies for the deck. I've been playing a Paladin deck that I really really like. It seems to do fairly decently against Hunter aggression, but if I get some bad draws, I get wrecked.

The Mage opening that I really love is if you get the coin for going second and manage to catch a Mana Wyrm and Mirror Images. Coin counts as a spell, so you can open with Mana Wyrm, Coin, Mirror Images, starting the game with a 3/3 Wyrm and your two 0/2 taunts.

I'm trying to change my approach to the game in general. I was conceding as soon as I was pretty certain the game was over, but I'm trying to force myself to play everything out and to make the correct decisions, even in a losing effort. While this hasn't saved me any games that I would have already quit, it has a couple benefits. The first is experience points. You gain experience based on the number of cards you play, so every turn is a little more EXP. Secondly, I am learning more and more how to deal with individual situations. Sure, the other guy might have lethal the next turn, but maybe I learned a neat synergy in my deck to remove a large minion that I may not otherwise think of. I'm trying to gain some sort of knowledge out of every matchup.

I need to read up and watch a bit more Arena play. I really like it, but the most wins I've gotten has been 7. I just need to formulate better drafting strategies, especially for classes I don't play very often.

Being able to switch a daily is good to know, thanks.

And I think Mages aren't really built around synergy. They're more built around having various tools, and those tools are used to proactively clear the board to keep them with the upper hand.

Other decks, in contrast, have more buffing spells, more minions with buffing effects and traits, etc. Mages seem to gravitate towards minions whose mana budget is for pure power; their goal is to keep the enemy's field empty, so taunt is less important, and they end up going for more straight trades as a result. Unlike a Shaman, you're not going to have strong minions you want to keep alive. 1 or 2 good trades and they've fulfilled their purpose.

And it's DEFINITELY different from Priest.

Side note, why have I literally NEVER faced a priest who wasn't able to toss out their Northshire Cleric on turn 1? Such a pain in the ***...

I had tried a Mage build that basically revolved around getting your opponent to 20 HP or less, drawing to Pyroblast and using Ice Block to keep you alive long enough to blow up your opponent's face. There's nothing quite so satisfying as someone hitting your last 1 HP and Ice Block telling them they have to wait, and then blowing their face up. I think that ultimately, that deck was a bit too spell-heavy, and most of my minions were just there to activate card draws in order to fish for those spells. It could certainly wreck some other decks, but I"m not sure it was well-suited as an general purpose deck.

My Paladin deck is a bit control heavy. I have numerous different methods to board clear, lots of taunts to slow down aggressive decks, and a bunch of minions to get value out of Redemption (Harvest Golems, Abominations, Cairne, etc.). It works very well against a broad range of decks, though it is expensive to craft everything in it.

The new cards they've shown from the upcoming single-player mode seem pretty good, but I'm certainly leery about the cost of entry. The "dungeon" is five wings, each having their own card rewards (30 cards in total). You get the first wing for free, and the others have to be paid for via gold or real money. I really hope their prices aren't obscene here. I need to either get better at Arena or stop spending my gold. I would like to not spend any more money. Smiley: lol

I haven't spent any money on card packs and I don't intend to.

If I managed to get through ME3 without spending real cash, I can certainly do it here.

I also bought the core game.

I meant on multiplayer packs, not on the single player stuff.
