Been a longtime player of EQ2, was one of the best games out there for the longest time. However, with no idea of when it will be up and running again I looked elsewhere to find something to take up my free time. Some of my family went to Rift and so far havent really got into it (I played beta and was not interested at all).

I found a game called World of Tanks, its not EQ2 but I will tell ya I have been having a blast. I thought by the title there wasnt much to it and being that its free to play I really had nothing to lose and instantly got hooked once I figured out how things worked. It was the same feeling I had when I started EQ2 in 2005.
TBH, not sure if I will return to Norrath at this point, bout the only thing I do anymore is BG's.

some of my guild mates are playing DDO, they like it better with smarter mob's combat with dodging and jump in combat style, SOE doesnt have that kind of game engine like Turbinegames do, SOE still cant do "sitting" as Turbinegames can.

suppose if Turbinegames get those "laid-offs", they would get very dramatic improvements with housing system that is still too restrictive that suffered in LotRO.

I have played LOTRO since alpha (I hold a lifetime subscription and am a founder) and there is so much wrong with the way Turbine engineers games I don't even know where to begin. The root of the problem is that when the player base says "we don't like this aspect of the game", Turbine normally replies "that's the best we can do, (or "that's the way we chose to implement the system"), so you need to adjust your play style to work with it".

This is the MMO version of "Get over it" / "Get used to it" and it is the opposite of the way SOE deals with player complaints. When confronted with a player complaint, SOE usually changes or adjusts the game mechanic to appease those players who were unhappy. They're not always successful but they almost always try!

With that fundamental difference in play, I don't think even an influx of ex-SOE employees would help the situation. In all likelihood, the new employees would be required to work the same way the existing staff does - "do what you're told and ***** what the customer base thinks they want"!

Glad you and your friends are enjoying DDO though... best of luck and so long! Oh, yeah... I almost forgot... enjoy sitting on stuff ...

Personally I have been playing EQ since EQ exsisted and then switched to EQ2. I feel that SOE is doing what it takes to protect us all, just wish it did not take so long, Lol (shakes).

I played WOW for a couple years and if not for all the kids that play (or adults who act like children), it would have been a good game. But like all MMORPG games, it is what it is, as stated earlier about LOTR, get use to it or find something else.

My hopes are simple, SOE to reemburse us for our troubles, give us a week of double exp in all aspects of the game, and keep us protected so this never happens again.

I want my EQ2 world back.

Also, give us some details on EQ3. I heard it is set for December 2012. But it is only a rumor.

I've upgraded my 2 at a time out DVD Netflix to 3 so I can finish the entire show of Entourage (Seasons 1-7) before July hits when the last season comes out.

I did turn on WoW but the same thing happens every night. My son goes to bed and I think "Cool. Game time" but then my excitement goes away just an hour after logging in. I'm not sure if it's the people or the game itself but I'm so bored! I have been going to bed myself earlier than normal since EQ2 has been down.

I don't assume it'll come up within the next couple of weeks. I hope it does come back eventually because it's MY game and I miss it. I am interested in what EQ3 has in store. I don't know if I would want to leave what I've been playing since 2004 but I have done it before to come here. .... EverQuest 1 from March 99 - May 2005. I finally stopped paying for it to come to EQ2 completely

Eve Online, where my in-game money paid for a 30-day extension.
I wish that could be done with EQ.
