Coming to a Netflix near you this Fall. Series follows the true story of a Final Fantasy XIV playing father and son duo who bond over their interactions in the game, with both live action and in-game scenes. Because why the hell not.

That's actually not a bad concept for a show. It just seems weird that they're using a real game instead of making one up.

Nah, because they probably got a deal going on, because it's great promotion and publicity for the game, if the show ends up being popular. It paints the game in a good light (father and son bonding together, what better thing can you use to promote an MMO?). It gets the brand name out there to people who might not have heard of it, or maybe don't realize the game is as good as it is (I wouldn't be surprised if people still associate FFXIV with 1.0 rather than ARR), etc etc.

This is actually an awesome thing, and I hope the show does well.

It's also good for gaming itself, it helps remove some of the stipulation about older people gaming, and it shows that gaming can be done in a family setting, where parents and their children alike can enjoy games together.

We need more of that kind of thing, to offset the BS that people like Sarkeesian are spouting off that is hurting gamers' images everywhere.

Sarkeesian? Haven't heard that name in a while. The premise is both creepy and heartwarming Smiley: lol

"Father of Light" is also fine. Even "My Father of Light" would work for that phrase since normally you wouldn't refer to someone else's father with that word.

I hadn't heard much from her lately either. Though she did decide to put her foot in it with the new Zelda game that just came out. Apparently she has a thing for both:
1: Hating the Legend of Zelda and
2: Willfully not understanding the Legend of Zelda.

Blame Kotaku last January and Bleeding Cool last Friday.

There's several youtubers still keeping track of Anita's hijinks, so ya. She's still at it.

She's got her agenda. And everything will be seen through that lens. Facts be damned.

Yeah Father of Light sounds way better than "Daddy of Light" that sounds wrong in sooooo many ways.

But I honestly dont see this show doing well, for one I doubt even 25% of each episode will show ingame footage, as far as "possibility getting ppl into the game' considering the low level gear in the opening and trailer I doubt we'll get to see any of the good stuff in game that would get potential new players hooked and lastly. Japanese dramas unlike US or America only last one season and are comprised of 8-12 episodes. Definitely not enough time to see their character grow, level up, maybe make endgame and start doing some of that stuff together, unless theres some serious timeskips
