Graphical gltich..age.Follow

#1 Jan 10 2004 at 11:55 PM Rating: Decent
Well recently while I was camping in Najena my EQ decided to randomly say "I hate you, stop looking at me" and started to have graphical problems. I guess the best way to describe it is... jumpy It's like it randomly cuts itself, removes a few pieces, then puts them together, when they're moved it shows only blue behind it. The jumpiness isn't limited to in game either, when I start up it is also there, I'm worndering if anyone has any knowledge of this situation. I have restarted, screwed around with my settings and tried downloading any fixes. Nothing, I decided to post here before I went through the trouble of restarting.

Please and thank you for your help.

Greetings,

Not much help to offer, but you do say that the jumpiness 'is not limited to in game'. If that's the case, it sounds like a video card/cable problem. Make sure (although I'm sure it's the first thing you tried) that you have the most up to date drivers for your card.

If that doesn't sort it, and if you have an older system spare, try swapping the video card from that into your current system. If the glitches go away, it may be time for a new card! If you have another monitor spare, it may be worth trying that too.

Hope this has been a little help....

Well what I meant by that was when I started everquest the juming would be in the menu screens as well, it hasn't occurred on any other program, plus it's a newer computer too.

From what you describre you might suffer from something that has happened to me.
Are you by chance running a GeForce 4 card & AMD Athlon set up?
If so, chances are you 3D acceleration part of the card has overheated and is busted, I had to replace my card due to this fact.
Then again you say it isn't happening in other programs so it might not be that. Are those other programs you mentioned 3d aplications (such as games) that make use of hardware acceleration?

I hope you don't have the same problem I had, but from what you describe it sounds very familiar.

One time a long time ago while playing FFVII on my computer my video started to glitch out and then went blank. I looked down at my box and noticed that smoke was pouring off of my new Monster video card.

I had a simliar problem where things in some zones didnt look correct. If you have the Cache turned on in settings try turning it off. Seems those files can get corrupted and cause graphics problems
