General Information

Odqan's Spawn Locations
Odqan's Spawn Locations

    • Odqan will only spawn during "foggy" weather, which generally occurs from 01:00 and 07:00 game time. Odqan is not a guaranteed pop when "foggy" weather is present in Misareaux Coast.

Odqan's Special Attacks

  • Circle of Flames - AoE physical damage with an additional Weight effect (Circle of effect originates from mob).

  • Formation Attack - Single target physical damage.

  • Refueling - Self target Haste effect (Effect can be dispelled).

  • Self-Destruct - AoE Fire based magic damage proportional to an amount of HP it possesses.

    • If its HP is above 20%, only a single bomb will explode. Below 20% there's a possibility of all the bombs exploding.

  • Sling Bomb - Single target physical damage.

Historical Information

In Mongolian folklore, the Odqan is the guardian spirit of fire. In Turkish mythology, the origin of the Odqan name, he was said to have a female counterpart, a more ancient fire spirit known as Yal-un Eke.

fog never come
# Jun 12 2010 at 8:22 AM Rating: Decent
i think the fog weather is buged, i sat there for 10 hour in a row and never saw a single fog in there, 10 hour for a stupid NM is such a waste of time, thanks SE for making buged NM
Never give it up.

Have to post this because it was very unusual. Was camping Odqan just now. Had killed him the day before with no drop so was standing around mostly afk waiting for the next day. I heard he does not like to pop the day after he was killed if you happen to get fog both days. Seems true to my experience but I was waiting anyway.

Next day we get heavy, unmistakable fog in the early morning about 3:00, and all the Atomic Clusters pop but no Odqan. I widescanned all over that place. Camping as 70THF/35RNG btw. No Odqan. So I figure he is done for that day. I go afk for about 2 minutes, came back and sat down and it was still heavy fog and getting close to 7:00. Was going to widescan once more for good measure and before I do I see him floating off just to my west...just abit over an hour since he was last killed. Busted his little butt and he dropped Bravo!

I promise you he did not pop when the other clusters did. All I can figure is either the fog died and then came back up while I was afk and that popped him, or, he just decided to pop because it was still foggy and his repawn was up. Personally I dont think the fog left the area. It was thick when I left and just as thick when I sat back down. If the latter is true that puts his respawn at about 1 hour. Of course, the chance of fog back to back like that is slim to none so it hardly matters.

Point being dont give up if he doesnt spawn right away with the other clusters. Remain vigilant until 7:00 or 8:00.
TH3 Broke
# Apr 27 2009 at 4:17 PM Rating: Decent
So i just went 0/8 on the Subligar with TH3 every time and i was just wondering if thats normal because i think im just getting screwed here. Then again even if it is normal to go 0/8 on Bravo's, i know its not normal to go 0/55 on Alky.

Edit 0/10. I made a GM call to let them know "Square Enix is user violating my Treasure Hunter 3 from behind!" and i actually got a response. They know what their doing lol.

Soloed him as a 60 thf 30 nin. It took him about 2 min to get down each set of shadows. I put up 3 sets. It hit in between 37-57. took me 6 min. I didn't see any fog. Just kinda bumped into him.

So I go to Mis Coast. I get to a little tunnel cnayon thingy, pop up widescan, and lo and behold there he is, waiting for me to relieve him of his life. I hit my Flee macro, charge SA on the way, and proceed to wipe the floor with his faces. (Thf75/RNG1, so it wasn't hard at all, obviously)

Couple of minutes later, I get the Subligar AND the Ring. By far the easiet NM I've ever camped.
Don't use Hide ._.

Well I killed this thing a dozen times, only got the drop once. Anyway just an advice to thfs that solo it : do *not* Hide during the fight. If you Hide just for 1/5 sec and foggy weather is gone, Odqan will depop. Learnt that the hard way; so yea forget about SA + Hide, it is *not* a good idea x.x

Well I was bored in tavnazia a little upset because I couldn't get any codex drops so I remembered this NM spawns over here the spawn pattern seemed very common. So I head out and a 75thf/nin is in the middle of the first spawn point so i figure I'll head to the other. About 5 minutes later I throw up widescan and see an atomic cluster and that tips me off to the fog, so I look down widescan some more and there he is. He had litteraly spawned right behind me so I send CC at him who gets him down to about 65% luckily call beast was up again so I call another and send her at him. at this point i was thinking I would need to use natural pets to finish it so I ran into the river..... and a pugil aggros me after a bit of a beating I leave CC charm the pugil and send it at Odqan who is at 22% now and the pugil was able to make the kill. Only got the cluster core though.

Edit-said I got an atomic cluster as a drop lol

Got it 4 times to drop
# May 16 2007 at 12:27 AM Rating: Decent
Well, I camp this NM often and recieved the drop 4 times. For all those with a moonphase fetish, 2 of those drops were on Windsday, Waxing Crescent Phase, around 30%
I'm so lucky :]
# Feb 15 2007 at 7:45 AM Rating: Decent
Well, I've been camping this guy as 75rng/37thf for about a week now and I got the drop ^_^ 1/3 (might be 1/4 I can't remember). Here's some info that might help: Misareaux coast DOES have foggy weather, sometimes it just takes forever to show up. And sometimes it doesn't even look like fog. If you're a ranger, just widescan and look for "atomic cluster"s during the morning hours of the game (1:00 - 7:00). Also, he will not spawn during any other weather (wind or dark in this area). Good luck!

Camped this NM about 6 hours before a cloudy day arrived. Was starting to wonder if I was looking in the right area. Killed as 60 THF/RNG. when I got to about 500 health I 2hred and started spamming BBs until it wore just to get ready for Self-destruct. But luckily I had sleep boltz so it never came... ended the battle with about 400 HP and a new subligar. rougly about 2 hours later I run into Rampaging Ram in Konschat Highlands and kill him as a 51 WHM/RNG. while dropping a friend off at Gusgen mines so we could get her a Parade Gorget. within 3 hours of game play. 3 different NMs, 5 different NM battles and 4 NM drops. not bad, wouldn't you say.
the ring
# Nov 28 2006 at 8:21 AM Rating: Decent
You can npc the ring for a little more than 11K. Usually better than AH price. If you really want to hunt the subligar and follow the average luck, you might end up with some of those. Happy camping.
Subligar Dropped^^
# Oct 10 2006 at 12:32 PM Rating: Decent
Meh I was just camping this for about an hour when it spawned, so I claimed it and lo and behold, the subligar dropped^^ So to all those out there, its not that hard a drop, I was just PLD75/THF15

So i only just got access to Tavnazia Region. I camp this several hours for one day, log off. Get on the next day, wait an hour. No pop. Go out, come back, wait a few mins w/ RNG sub as 60 PLD. Widescan and he's moving about unclaimed :D. So i run toward him, finally after a few sec he falls into view. Claim with flash, start fighting it out. So all goes to plan, i get him down alot easy, he gets me down a bit, i heal up... Then, he blows up his first bomb. >< It hits me for 100-200-ish DMG, but i'm too busy, watching the drop rate slowly fall. He blows up his second bomb. Whack, 500hp down... Finally i cast cureIV with 24 HP left... Smack... Dead. I learned a valueable lesson from this >.>. I should have called out my NPC, buffed up, had WAR sub and hopefully "Accidentally" bumped into him. And last of all, i should've Invincibled before he did that last hit >.>. Lesson learned ><

Sleep Bolts gain a resistance.
Soloable by 60rng/thf?
# Apr 01 2006 at 10:25 PM Rating: Decent
This guy is like my Moby ****... There is some discussion about what the lowest lvl is that can solo him... I can at least tell you that a 50 rng/thf can NOT solo him, I got my *** handed to me twice... and it's that much more difficult due to the fact that almost everything in the area will agro you at 52. However, I'm creeping up on 60rng and I've read some stuff about 60thfs soloing him in straight forward fights. Does anyone with any first-hand knowledge think that I could solo Odqan as a 60rng/thf by spamming sleep bolts? The sleep bolt method is what I tried to use before but they would only proc about 2/3 of the time, and my accuracy was maybe 4/5 ; ;. I'm thinking at 60 nothing will agro (from what I've read) and higher stats should help proc rate, and acc boost + AF body will help incredibly with my accuracy. Anybody think this will/wont work? I dont really wnat to die again >.>

UPDATE: I did manage to more or less solo him as a 60rng/thf. I saw him on WS so I hit flee and ran over to shadowbind him. Called my NPC, hit him with an acid bolt, and the 300% slugshot I'd had saved up then went to work with sleep bolts. Occasionally he would wake up and hit me, it was pretty even for about 5 min until I shadowbound him again and spammed bloody bolts at him (During this time my NPC cast Protect2 and Cure3 on me... then other random buffs on himself -_-). slugshot again while he was bound then returned to sleep bolts. At the end he seemed to be resisting the bolts a little, not much, 1 or 2 hit without procing, so I EESed and engaged to finish him off thf style by spamming bloody bolts.... No drop >_< 0/1

Personally i dont buy it i havent fought this mob yet but i will shortly (32thf camp it with my smn =D) but from playing a thf and seeing how they work im 95% sure the thfs that did solo this used /nin for ichi i have yet to hear of a thf who does not solo without /nin eventually everyting builds up to the two most important status bolts for a thf blind/sleep but good ole trust bloodys save your life but on anything thats not at leaast a decent challange alot of the times you cant justify the damage being taken from the mob with bloody bolts, and beings as everything in the area is higher lvl im sure this mob even to a lvl 60 are around even match or at least DC and to alot of classes a decent challenge NM is trouble and considering the drop rates i hear without thf or /thf and with arent to great andd the the chances of other people camping this thing are pretty good also it wont be a easy task if your going rng/thf i would try rng/nin to have some shadows, here in a bit ill post up if i remember and see how hard it is with a 60smn Good Luck and have fun ^^

Update: So far nothing higher then Easy Prey to my 60smn no aggro either.
Again: Mobs in the area will blood aggro if you dont clear the area i browsed the spots and seen some blood aggro things and i think formors spawn somewhere at night as well got side tracked exploring Riverne Ao#1 >.>

Why is there no fog
# Mar 22 2006 at 4:13 PM Rating: Decent
Well I have been camping this NM or just reg clusters for 8 freaking hours now and have not seen one spawn despite having rng subbed and knowing all the spawn locations of these bombs. I need cluster cores for the snoll fight but 8 hours of camping isn't worth this. Can someone possibly shed some light on wether theirs a catalyst that launches this "Fog" effect that everyone speaks of or if it's so random that the area can go over a game week without fog.

Thank you

I have fought this guy many of times in the last 2 days. he is highly under campped which makes him a fun NM to farm.

his drop rate sucks *** on the subligar.

im 62thf/31RNG and he has dropped 2 rings and alot of cluster cores..

im still waiting on the pants since they r 4-5 mil on quetz, that should be enough for arrows till lvl 75.... HOPEFULLY.

He spawns every anywhere in between 2 am and 8 am game time.

usually every few hours.
foggy weather out here has many different lvl of fog.

some days it doesnt look like fog but he is still there.
he has 5-7 different spawns points depending o how many atomic clusters spawn per shot

Well I have lost count of how many times I have killed this mob and not had him drop. I'm sure its around 0/15+. The only reason I camp him though is because he is an easy NM to claim. There is usually no competition and when there is THF/RNG is best camp for this NM since his pop range is so wide. Anyways I have decided that this thing is a ****** and will probably never drop, I am sitting here doing homework between his windows and hoping he will pop. I am by no means a ****** NM camper either. Pre Update I was 24/51 and Valkurm Emperor and 4/70+ on Stropher Chyme. Aswell as camping Mee Deggi against the Gil Sellers and being 3/23 on that thing and 1/16 on Quu Dommi. Anyways I wish the rest of you luck with this NM and maybe he will actually drop for me once. it is not so much the item that I want anymore, moreso the satisfaction of actually getting the mother ******* drop.

Aaarrrghhhh! I was wandering around Misareaux coast and had like, 150ish MP. So I thought I'd rest up and try and fight him (as 68 RDM), and nobody else had come running towards him. So I started healing but an orc aggroed me, and by the time I finished the orc, Odqan was gone =( I broke various expensive things around my house.

I hate this NM so much... 0/3 so far, camped for about 4 days. I've seen fog 5 times out of around 30 mornings... weather ***** doesn't help either. Half the time it's foggy when she says there's no chance of sunshine. "wtfm8"

Fight is easy as a 62 Thf/Rng. Spam bloodies, lots of evasion, you're fine. It's good stuff. Just.. needs to drop the subligar now.

EDIT: 0/4 drops, 4/5 claims.

RE: ><

0/7 drop, 7/9 claim...

I have the feeling that only people who don't need it will get the drop. And fog only occurs when there's 8 other people there hunting the thing.

Sorry to agree with you but that seems to be the way all the NMs seem to work, at least in my experience. Killed this guy last night, first time I've ever heard of him and got the subligar.

But still I can use the 2mil gil on some BLM stuff.
