U can use the ring at lvl 1 but as a taru not sure its really worth it like come on how many HP do you really have at lvl 1 it really cant be that high so sure you get lots of MP but footkick you rape what HP you have left..sure once you a higher lvl yes this ring would be better .. but at level one .. who would want to spend that much time/gill for this ring

I'm sure by now most people have just ignored this post, but I think before you post a comment you should actually, you know, read what the thing does. The earring converts 50 MP to HP, not the other way around. So a level 1 taru mage wearing it would have a lot more hp to survive those Foot Kicks, just not a lot of mp to cast with.

Hello everyone!
I'm just wondering if this HNM can be soloed by a RDM/NIN? I mean I understand the Bad Breath and stuf but isnt that a TP move? (Im fairly sure it is) And if it is can't a RDM/NIN simple go there and use the DEF, Dagger trick? Use a low Attack dagger so you do 0 damage and use Enfire. This way no TP will be given to the HNM and then no Bad Breath ^^..... So the only thing I'm worried about is the attack speed of the HNM, but I think with some Haste gear RDM/NIN could keep up with the shadow recast..

NIN/WHM using daggers and evasion gear has a better chance of soloing this than RDM/NIN. NIN/WHM needs remedies tho for Bad Breath. Bad Breath isnt all that bad except for the silence and paralyzed. I am not positive whether the Dagger's MP Draining ws will drain mp but it probably will since most HNMs have MP. THF/NIN using remedies and tactics pearl can also solo this. As for RDM/NIN, this thing CAN draw in. and i "believe" his draw in only works if u run out of that huge ellipse he spawns in. and his bad breath has bind which isnt good for kiting fyi =P. as for hitting it for 0, i don't know if you can hit it for 0 because his defense isnt that uber. and he can hit upwards for 200 dmg on a RDM so u gotta be prepared. remember bring remedies! they help big time

Since HNM have above 10K HP (well, even a lot more <.<;)... since attack spells give TP... since Enfire will do 8 damage per hit... Yeah a RDM/NIN can probably solo Cassie with this strategy... at least for 5 minutes. ^^;

after an update one day my friend (75 nin/war) and i (75 whm/blm) went to try to get the claim on this guy figuring no one else would come to camp cassie right away. we were right and we got the claim with no one else even in the zone. we attempted to duo this mob unsuccessfully wiping at 50% when i took hate and got knocked out in a few hits. we had a 75 war/nin come to help us and after 30-45 mins successfully trioed him, almost wiping with 1%. no drops but it was a very fun fight^^

ok, my encounter with this thing was an eventful one..

anyone reading this from my Alliance today would agree lol..

Basically me and a 70nin were leaving from Shiva fight and i am whm60 so he says he help me get RR2 drop because its too expensive for me (150k on UNICORN) so anyway, we kill Hellish weapons on one corridor head to the next and he's shouting for cure and i am quite confused.. I run into room and he is Kiting this HUGE Malboro with Utsusemi protecting him.. sure enough i thrown him the cure and this thing Draws In remember that!.. and yea i get drawn in and die and the nin keeps on kiting as he has called for assistance in LS and friends.. i RR and start to heal with sneak on.. sneak drops between two bats, down one corridoe is pots and down other is elemental so i am screwed.. i aggro and warp out..

I get back to Xarcabard and head for Fei'Yin and nin dies.. well while this has been happening the GilSellers were gathering and they stole it.. we keep heading to Fei'Yin me and the nins friends and another LS has turned up and claimed it somehow not sure how but basically this thing is going back and forth from the LS to the GS.. and I think my Alliance had it at one point..

Anyway we raise and heal and watch fight.. there were 5 GilSellers.. and they got whooped but just before they died they call for help!.. they play dirty >.> so the GilSellers die and the Malboro goes crazy and wipes everyone.. then regens to 100% we all raise and heal and i run passed GilSellers dead on floor and there are 4 of them *thinks back*

anyway we carry on the other LS claims it so we watch.. at 5%HP on the Malboro we look to the right and the GilSellers are all up so obviously the 5th came back.. the other LS gets the NM to 1%HP and drop.. the GS and my Alliance have a provoke battle and the GS claim it and kill it.. they laugh and they warp out..

it sucked.. fun night though..

BASICALLY
If you want to camp this.. you better be there on time with an Alliance of about 12 65-75 cos this thing is strong!! stick it to those sellers and just take an alliance of 18 lol..

some information about this nm; myself and a few others have been camping this thing for the last week. because of the chinese new year or something gill sellers have pretty much left us alone. things you will want to bring: 1 stack of poison pots, 1 stack of echo drops if you are a mage, nin or /nin.

the range of bad breath and her sleep aoe is huge, so dont risk getting out of cure distance of tank, its no use. do not have a bunch of melee smack cassie.. giving this mob tp will make it a much harder fight.

have every mage come /whm... paralyna, erase x2 tank asap.. now for the drops.. cape seems to drop once or twice a month?

we are 0/6 cape 4/6 earring 2/6 aiming bracelets

FYI: if you're in the neighborhood when Cassie's being faught, the radius on bad breath is H U G E. Like don't be standing in the same room huge. We were passing by the other day while heading to camp shadows, and paused to watch the fight. Fight was a little north of center, and we were on the south wall. Still got hit every time she breathed.

i was walkin to SMNAf2 / shiva fight and i was goin thru the tunnel to her room, all the sudden i got hit by her breath attk, wtf. oh no surprise gil sellers fighting it, another group of gil sellers come, MPK them. around 5% HP, they call for help, they wipe, cassie heals full, by this time, im only one left alive in my pt, i cant solo, 66 smn ; ;. but at least i got a SS of an unclaimed cassie! she was unclaim like 10 min lmao

A NIN(Night) and a WHM(Dreadnought) just duo'ed Cassie on Quetzalcoatl server, they were never in any danger. Took them about 30 minutes, they got the earring and the cape.

Cassie is fun XD Usually do it with 6-12 75s, but once I did it with only 2 others. THF/NIN, RDM/WHM, BRD/WHM trioed it successfully. I was the BRD.
Gotta be well prepped though and have lots of goodies to keep you alive. :P lol And be skilled enough to keep claim on cassie if one of you die... especially if the THF dies >_>

Cassie has been killed with 2 before on my server though. THF/NIN, RDM/WHM... now that takes skill lol.

Need erase for the thf of course. And keep paralyze off. And keep watch for hate removal moves. :x

Unfortunately when I did it it dropped crap though. But it was well worth the experience and rush lol.

This NM is a piece of cake with the right tactics. You need a couple of kiters (NIN sub or main a must) and a couple of nukers. Also a healer or two, one of which being a WHM would be nice (for raise 3 when people die). Have the kiters run around, and keep Cassie with Gravity and bind it whenever you can. Any melee's you have, as mentioned, build TP on surrounding monsters. The fight will last a long time because Cassie has roughly 50k HP, maybe more. One mage should always stay out of sight of Cassie for when she does Bad Breath / Sweet Breath. Bad Breath = Lots of nasty stat effects which renders you immobile. Sweet Breath = AOE sleep + damage. Cassie also has an attack that puts Bind/Slow/Gravity/Major Poison on one person. Major Poison = 50 hp a tick. You must be around 70+ to even attempt this or else all the other creatures in the room will aggro. I have killed it 6 times this past week, and on two occasions we got Cassie Earring + Amity Cape drop. Both times it was killed by a THF. On my server Cassie Earring = 1,000,000 and Amity Cape (when synthed up to Errant Cape) = 4,000,000G. Not bad :)
Strategy

Best strategy for this HNM is a "Gun-n-run" tactic. It can be easily taken out with a group (Lv.70+) of a couple RDMs, BLMs, and RNGs. The RDM take care of the Gravity and then use Bind on Cassie to hold her down. The BLM and RNG nuke and shoot like crazy on her. RNGs use shadowbind when necessary. Just keep her bound and gravity the entire fight and you don't have to worry about getting hit. A full-on melee attack WORKS, but it's guaranteed you'll get Sweet Breath'ed and Bad Breath'ed quite a few times, which creates a lot of problems with an alliance. If it's a melee alliance, build TP on the surrounding monsters and unleash WS and MB as soon as you engage her. The faster she goes down the better (and she goes down rather fast... doesn't have a HUGE amount of HP)

I've killed Cassie 4 times now.. usually with 5-6 people total. RDM, BLM, BLM, Tank who can kite [NIN work better than PLD], WHM [Preferbly Taru], and you can add another BLM if you don't feel confident. I'd recommend everyone be 70+ to avoid aggro in that entire room. I notice that it's breath attacks basically cover the entire room. Just bind, nuke, gravity, have tank kite.. and repeat. The Taru WHM I've done it with can get Bind to stick without any trouble.. We've also had BLMs log out for hate control after using up MP. All in all, 2 capes and 2 earrings in the 4 times I've killed it. ^^

We killed this thing today and didnt follow the usual way of running around the room. We got 4 blms and just nuked, stunned, and binded. He went down pretty easy actually. Alot better then the normal way!

Friend and I were farming in Fei'Yin and almost ran straight into Cassie. We yelled at our linkshell to get their butts to Fei'Yin ASAP. A few nonshellers came with, since a lot in our LS were MIA. We were so caught up in the moment when everyone got there that we didn't really do much in the lines of "organizing". What we rounded up:

whm56 (myself), mnk75 (friend), nin75, brd72, drk71, nin65, nin64, whm61, war58, thf58, whm56, mnk55, pld54, whm53, blm53, whm51

What happened? Chaos. I think almost everyone (if not everyone) got Poisoned/Paralyzed/Silenced/Blinded almost immediately. I remember having Gravity effect also, but we kept having links, so I'm not sure if that was from Cassie or from a different AoE. As soon as I was no longer.. Stunned, I believe.. I used Echo Drops to get rid of my Silence, then it took me a few tries to cast Paralyna on myself so I could successfully cast Silena on our blink tank. (Some of our mages didn't have Echo Drops, either. /shocked) I ran back to what I thought would be a safe distance (outside the normal AoE range.) As soon as that happened... another round of Bad Breath. Another Echo Drop, another attempt of Paralyna'ing myself. Our blink tank was dead. Someone got bat aggro, which wiped out a few mages, including myself. AoE and direct hits wiped out the rest of the alliance within seconds.

Okay, we laughed, did some Raises, rested and had a chat about how to go about killing Cassie. We assigned mages certains jobs (ie I macroed Silena and Paralyna on the blink tank.) The mages stayed even further away.. for sure out of Bad Breath range.

Second time around started out smoothly. I was amazed at how long we were fighting it before things started getting hairy. Mages ran up to cast spells and were supposed to run right back out of AoE range, but it got to the point where we were constantly needed to cast spells. Someone aggro'd a ghost. Sleepga II. /sigh Bad Breath. /sigh Another Echo Drop/Paralyna/Silena round. Bad Breath. /sigh Ninja's HP was going fast. I kept getting interrupted by my Paralyzed effect. Dead Ninja. At this point it's pretty much over, although we don't run away. (Speaking of which, like most -all?- HNMs, if you try running away, the mob will "suck you in".) Not sure who was trying to tank it at this point, although I kept Curing the DRK who kept asking to be Cured, and who's HP kept going down. Between the ghost and Cassie (and perhaps a few bats.. I'm not sure), everyone went down. I was resting for MP when I got "sucked in", so I just started swinging my almight club at Cassie. I was the last to die. Go Female Hume White Mage!~

We decided not to die a third time. If more friends had been on, it would've been attempted.

From what I've heard (and what seems most logical) is that you need a Summoner or two or three in the party. I'll let you figure out why.~

it uses Bad Breath, sweet and stink breath dont do that. Bad Breath cas all status effect on you. Ninja must tank this while running away so mages dont get cast on them.

It doesn't do ALL status effects...from my experience, only minor poison, paralyze, silence, gravity, bind, blind, and one other that I tend to forget.

Why do I say it doesn't do ALL? Well...it doesn't charm you, that's for sure.

And this other earring is Level ONE? Riiiiiight... Might be worth more but who says it's always about money? Some people actually like this earring and have uses for it. ANNNND Amity Cape is also an outstanding drop. I, myself... being a black mage wish I had an Amity Cape for my magic bursts.

Argus, a level 36 Hecteyes NM in the Maze of Shakhrami, drops the Peacock Charm. It's a neck piece, not an earring, but it sells for 3-4.5 million gil. From what I understand he's on a 12-36 hour respawn timer, and there are usually 2-3 people camping it. o.o;

it casts spells sweet breath and stink breath

both have incredible range and will hit anyone almost within sight. and look at what happens to your entire alliance:

sleep
silence
bind
gravity
blind
200 damage

basically we had a pretty strong alliance of 60-65 and we fought it twice and died within about 1 minute. the first time we were all silenced - not a single person was not silenced. the melees kept on fighting but naturally they went yellow to red to red pretty fast with no one curing. then it cleaned up the mages and slithered off

we raised up and tried again - this time everyone got echo drops (cures silence). however it slept us all and again picked us all off pretty fast. the range on these attacks is so huge, i dont know how you could avoid it. maybe if everyone has ninja sub and you all use blink. but imagine everyone within 200 feet getting silenced and slept every minute and you can see why this item costs so much.

Good greif, you're not telling me that not a single mage thought to take some echo drops anyway? (ie. before finding out that the NM can silence them).
