EQoA Updates!

uly 31, 2003 Freeport is under attack by Orcs! Orcs have breeched the city walls and sporadic fighting rages in the city proper. Anyone traveling to and from Freeport is advised to use extreme caution! People arriving on coaches have been known to be attacked as soon as they arrive so again, be wary! NPC Updates: In general NPCs were not correctly using all of the abilities available to them. For instance, Shaman type NPCs were not correctly casting Spirit of Wolf spells on themselves or their fellow monsters. This has been corrected and you will want to take stock of what type of npc you are about to engage and judge them appropriately. Should you see merchants selling Alchemy spells or other such new npcs, don't be alarmed. While you can't play an Alchemist yet (you will need the Frontiers DVD to do so) you will be able to get a glimpse of what their spell line up is starting to look like. Creatures in the Hidden Valley region now have appropriate Hate Radius and kill penalty. Narticus in the Elemental Towers regions, given the powerful items that could be obtained from him, is a bit rarer now. Tradeskills: Crafted weapons that are of a type that could be wielded in the off hand (secondary) are now flagged as such. Previously all crafted weapons were primary only. Weapon crafting molds are now available in Neriak. You should now see a visible effect when using crafted weapons with procs when the proc goes off. Experience: There is now a hard cap in place for how much experience you can gain for any one monster kill that scales for level. It was never our intent that any player could, through convoluted or lengthy means, overcome a significantly higher NPC and gain levels worth of EXP. Spells and Abilities: Increased recast timer on Necromancer pact spells to 12 seconds. The level 40 Druid Inflame spec DoT damage was increased slightly and the scaling decreased slightly. This makes the spell perform better over the level 30 Emblaze DoT when it is first obtained. Emblaze remains unchanged. Items: Changed all 4 Mithril Hematite Jewelry pieces to give fire resistance instead of cold resistance. The Diminutive Shortblade now has appropriate damage for its level, rarity and repair costs. Updated the Huntress' Bow to be of the appropriate level. Updated a number of items that had either too low or non existent AC values. Frigid Boots are no longer usable by the Ranger class. The Orb of Cooling from the Isle of Dread is now equipable

Wierd Orc Quest
# Aug 12 2003 at 12:48 PM Rating: Excellent
I just wanted to let everyone know that I got a wierd quest the other night. I actually got it from Tunare herself. It started when I got in a group for xping and we headed off to sunnyvale. Tunare started sending me tells, saying that she needed help, at first I thought it was someone ******** around with me, but then she showed up in front of me, of course the others in my group all thought I was crazy.
Finally I decided to check it out and Tunare told me to go South of Freeport and she would meet me there. When I started following the road she appeared there again and pointed further south, so south I went again. Finally I got a pop up that said I found some huge orc tracks that lead NE and that I should follow them, so I did. I followed them for a ways and they changed direction, they changed direction a few times, but finally I caught up to what I had been following, it was the leader of the orcs that had been attacking Freeport, and some others including a shaman and a giant scorpion. I was then told to go warn commander Nothard in Freeport. Then everything went nuts in FP, when the orcs got there, they killed everything, including lvl 50s, with ease. It took forever but finally everything was killed, and when it was all over it lvled me without giving me xp. It just said I gained a lvl.
Sorry for being a bit longwinded but I thought you should all know.
BTW I'm a lvl 28 ranger on Diren Hold named Tanthalus.

This is what i was told to be the answer...The serpent river is by Forkwatch and the griffon is the qeynos symbol...and forkwatch is a qeynos outpost so the True prophet is after Forkwatch... Makes sence to me but I havn't been able to find any thing around Forkwatch maybe i'm just not thinking outside the box...
guard smitty quest
# Aug 11 2003 at 4:46 PM Rating: Default
The orcs are comin from the south right so we need to find from how far south there coming then look west of there sw from freeport not west another thing is if you look to the maps to the far sw is the great unknown. I belive that when Frontiers come out that will be the new zones area and it is to the west the new race is Ogres. if a new aliance between the orcs and ogres is made the good races of tunaria could be laid to waste hence the true prophet looks to the west HE LOOKS TO THE WEST FOR HELP NOT WAR is all im trying to say. i hope im not right id hate to wait till november to finish this quest hell ill 50 by then and wantin to hit 60 not playing with 24th lvl quest's.

Good luck and happy Hunting

I was thinking about looking around the Rathe mountains where all the giants are; hence Ogres, Cyclops, Hill Giants ect. I read an item post on this site that said, "these gloves were worn by orcs who were faithful the Ogres of the Rallosian Empire." Maybe this is a good idea to check out.
Possible answer but to low lvl to explore
# Aug 11 2003 at 9:54 AM Rating: Good
Someone on EQOA servers says there is an orc(he said the name was "the true profit" sounds kinda lame) in forkwatch somewhere along the serpent river he spawns and drops a map, that you bring back to guard smitty. Where upon another orc spawns to kill you. I figured you all might like to check it out... I recieved the quest but I am only a lvl 12 rogue. So exploring in Forkwatch is a little limited. I'm not sure about the orc in FW but the one that spawns in FP is suposed to be pretty tough.

Hope this will help...
Pay for? and Riddle
# Aug 08 2003 at 8:23 AM Rating: Decent
Okay knowledge is free they call it a library.

Secondly, I agree that this quest is awesome. If you would let go of the negativity then everyone else would be more likely to enjoy the quest as well.

I admit that I haven't figured out the riddle, and I also admit that I am getting frustrated. But that's what makes someone know that it is a good riddle. Yes, I admit I could use help. But I am looking for someone who is genuinely interested in helping not looking for a handout.

It's kinda funny how all you people are like "oh this quest sucks" when in fact this is an excelent quest. Most of you who say stupid stuff like that probably had someone take you through all the quests and show you how to complete them. And I would never pay anyone to tell me an answer to part of a quest, that defeats the whole purpose of haveing fun on the game. You guys need to get a life, I havnt even played the game in almost 2 months and I can tell this quest is going to be good when I get back into it. So quit your Bit*hing and use some of that so called brain you got.

I see your point, but at the same time I am guessing you have never played a human ranger. If it wasnt for this site, I would have never gotten as far as I did with my ranger. Sometimes, this site didn't help, because noone plays human rangers cause they are difficult and start in surefall. Now don't get me wrong, I like to do things on my own, but what i experienced from the ranger was nothing more than an un-lubed aggression to one of my orfices. The quest descriptions given by your Guild master just plan out suck. (Don't believe me then read lvl 15 quest for them on this site). Then if thats not enough, you end up having immense difficulty even completing when you do find the mobs, because they are generally viscious. Not to mention that hardly a soul likes to group with a ranger, because they are melee without taunt. So i needed this site to get me through some rather difficult tasks. Which was good, because now when i pick a warrior, SK, or Pally in ANY town I rock out quests in no time. They are easy to me.

To close, yeah i think it sucks that people would rather be shown the way rather than find out for themselves. Fortunately though, those are the same people who look dumb when they say ythey have an alt but dont know where the 17 quest are.

RE: Raid on Freeport

Yes every 15 to 20 minutes or so (as it seems to me) a small number of 'Black Orc raiders' will spawn in various areas inside the city. They seem to be around level 33. I'm Lvl.37 and they con light-blue to me, and do not quad attack. It keeps you on your toes and wakes you up fast, that's for sure.

i just wanted to add that in bison`s ridddle it says that "the true prophet LOOKS to the w to the plains, it is there,it is there the serpent will bathe in blood and warm itself by the burning of the griffon"maybe its not a prophet to the w maybe we looking for the event to occur . just a idea

Between some of what Smitty said (I wish I had typed it out) and part of Bison's little story, I'm rechecking Greyvax's cave... perhaps the lines "To the North they met death, cold, and hunger. Before that they went South and died in the bogs." refers to the barbarian tribes themselves... the next line talks about the orcs, it seems...

On second though, Greyvax's Cave seems to be a red herring... ah, well... worth a shout

My theory:

Bison has the intelligence of a 3rd grader. He speaks only in tounges and broken english. Something I like to call "Country Grammer"

Maybe we are looking for Nelly? If my theory is correct then he should be to the left of the Tower of Noctiy, in the Mu Lin’s Reach Zone, under what, which can no other be described as the "St. Louis Arch" next to the Tower.

Country Grammer + The Arch = NPC NELLY?

I have been too busy to check it out.

I never thought about it but you right giberish and rapp does sound alike you must be right lets go find nelly the npc he would be a euradite since thats the only black people in this game so lets go on a hunt for nelly the black the only black man in the woods itll look like the KKK comin thru expecially if you need to kill him, boy thatll look good i bet the NAACP would have eqoa shut down within a week for somthin' that stupid. The one negro, african american and or black man (or what ever else is the PC term of the week) in the area is being killed by hundreds of whites at the same time I dont think so. Lets not post stupidity please.

Bison
# Aug 03 2003 at 5:01 AM Rating: Decent
We all know Bison is crazy if you've done any quests where you have to talk to him.

Some of my guildees found a deathfist camp in SE Serpent Hills zone: no named mob, but a lot of lvl 50 mobs roaming the area. We got killed by malign wisp. I think this zone is out of the question.

My first thought was Snowblind Plains, another high lvl area. I will continue looking there, and especially for the named mob that was mentioned below.

We are looking for the True Prophet in the plains to the West. It could be Snowblind Plains, Plains of Karana which is the area from Highbourne to Southern Crossraods. It could be Ferran's Hope, I found a named orc there once doing the 37 quests. If anyone finds anything out please post it. You never know, we could have to go the Deathfist Horde.....Good luck to all doing this quest.
my two cents
# Aug 02 2003 at 9:40 PM Rating: Decent
Hey guys, first time posting here. I was working on a theory after reading what bison tells you (the full story).

The false prophet led them north to freeport, but the true prophet led them west. Not from freeport, but from somewhere else south of freeport. I think if you can figure out where they started from, you'll have big piece of the puzzle figured out.
anyone else think i'm heading the right way?

Okay, I was scouting around in some hotspots that could work for the riddle with one of my alts and I'm not sure, but I may have found the Prophet. Don't get your hopes up because I'm not entirely, or for that matter any bit sure. His name is along the lines of "Oroson", and he is located in the Northern part of Snowblind Plains next to a giant slightly glowing log, and in case you didn't know, VERY red to me at 20. He didn't talk to me, though if someone figures out Bison's riddle, it might b the next part of the quest. Again not hard evidence, just a convient and logical hunch, "the true prophet will look to the west, to the plains" Not sure if this helps, but the serpentine bath and flaming griffon has me vexed, if I get any new information I'll post it here. Also I doubt that it, whatever "it" is, would be in the tomb of the kings, nothing but undead, can't remember lvl's, but everything is undead.
