As a postscript to the GU 47 Item Revamp preview, Domino just posted the following in response to player concerns that the item revamp for crafted items wasn't quite there yet:

Hiya folks!

As you are most likely aware from the test server update notes and related discussions , Fyreflyte and others have been working hard on a very widespread revamp to improve the quality of the level 1-59 gear in the upcoming Game Update 47.

As noted in those links above, the improvement in the gear is going to be across the board, and will include crafted gear as well as dropped and quested items. Crafted items which have been in need of some stat boosting will get significant improvement, and even the items which had already been improved post-Kunark may see some further stat boosts in order to ensure they're still appropriately desirable in the grand scheme of things.

However, feedback from the folks on the test servers highlighted a number of areas where the progression of the stats on the crafted armor was not entirely intuitive. As a result of this feedback we have decided to postpone changing the crafted armor stats slightly so that we can ensure that the progression of the stats of the crafted armor sets is smooth and makes sense. Although this does unfortunately mean a small delay before the crafted armor (particularly the handcrafted) revamp goes live, we believe that this will be preferable to making one change now, and then requiring further changes going forward. We aim to have the crafted armor revamp in Game Update 48, so the delay will be as minimal as possible. The current plan is also for Game Update 48 to include a boost to the faction awarded by tradeskill writs, so there should be a number of things to look forward to in that update!

In the mean time, this coming update is still planned to include quite a few exciting tradeskill changes including a new grandmaster quest, new tradeskill collectibles to find, some new clothing to wear, and some improvements to crafted jewelry stats. And of course, if you're coming to the SOE Block Party or to Fan Faire in the coming month, you'll see me there!

We applaud Fyreflyte and Domino (and their unnamed minions) for their continued responsiveness to player concerns. Sure, crafted gear might be behind the curve for a month, but better late than broken!
