Karos Online Goes Offline Friday

Karos Online, the long-running F2P MMO, is going offline for good soon, as announced last month on their forums. Though it's dawn of the final days, they have urged their players to migrate over to Rosh Online, Karos' sorta-sequel set in the same universe. Players who migrate receive nice bonuses for their time spent in Karos, including a high-level character and huge piles of loot and money.

The Paladin Comes to Karos Online

Karos Online fans will definitely have something to look forward to in next week's content update, as NHN Corporation has just confirmed that the Paladin class will be coming to Asmara! The Paladin is a female human tank class that acts as a defensive support unit, wearing down her enemies with her sword and shield while healing her group with her plethora of protective abilities. In addition to this, at level 15 the Paladin must choose to separate into one of two careers: she can either become a main tank, and rally her group around her as a Defender, or she can become a Holy Knight, and become more of a defensive support unit with her powerful auras.

The Paladin joins the previously announced classes of Blader (two-handed DPS), Rogue (dual-wielding DPS), Bowmistress (ranged DPS), Mystic (magical DPS) and Sorceress (magical DPS and debuffs). All that's missing from this picture is a healer class!

Open Beta For Karos Online Begins December 4

With Karos Online nearing its North American launch slated for Q4 2009, the team has slated its open beta date for December 4th. In addition to this, NHN Corporation, the developers of Karos Online, has also noted that they will be hosting a final closed beta testing event on the 27th and 28th of November, where they will allow beta testers to experience high-level content and reserve their character names for the Open Beta event. In particular, with the closed beta event, NHN Corporation notes that new characters will come fully equipped with gear and items to support high-level play, and the experience gain has been "dramatically" increased, so players can hit the level cap of 44 almost instantly.

Heejin Jeong, the Senior Overseas Sales Manager at NHN Corporation notes that, "The third event offers the opportunity to play as a much more powerful character, and there will be new features available this time that players haven't seen before, including new monsters, weapons and Holy Creatures."

You can check out Karos Online and sign up for the closed beta at their website. Just create an account and click "Apply Now" to get into the closed beta.

Karos Online Confirms Final Closed Beta: Nov. 27th

The third, and final, closed beta event for the fantasy MMORPG Karos Online is now confirmed to take place on the 27th and 28th of November. Heejin Jeong, Senior Overseas Sales Manager at NHN Corporation notes that "Karos Online will complete its closed beta phase by the end of this month." In addition, the team notes that they're planning a weekend event for this final closed beta that is quite different from anything else players have experienced in the game thus far. While they have not told exactly what these new events are, they do say that "if you've been wondering just how powerful characters in Karos Online can get, you won't want to miss the last closed beta weekend!" You can check out more Karos Online info (and sign up) over at their website.

In addition to this, NHN Corporation also confirmed that the first beta event for the Turkish port of Karos Online, called Son Destan, will begin on November 27th to the 29th.

Finally, the team also notes that Karos Online will be released in English in Q4 2009 (that's soon!) and that the German and Turkish versions will be completed by 2010.

Karos Online Confirms Oct.23rd Closed Beta Weekend

NHN Corporation has just noted that "after a period of intense development," the team has met several key milestones and they plan to test them all out during the October 23rd Closed Beta weekend. One of the most significant changes to the game is a rehaul of the player killing PvP system, where low level players were constantly being preyed on by the more experienced users. Heejin Jeong, Senior Overseas Sales Manager at NHN notes that they "want everyone to be able to enjoy Karos Online from the beginning, so the game has been changed to restrict player-killing to characters of level ten and above. We believe this will ease many of the issues for new players while still retaining the competitive spirit of Karos Online."

This new closed beta weekend will see players able to progress to level 35 and given the opportunity to explore the new region of Peltrok. The Karos Online team has also introduced a new class, the Mystic, who joins the previously announced classes of Blader, Rogue and Bowmistress. The Mystic is a member of the graceful, half-elemental Seroine race, and a powerful class of female warrior. In battle, she can use nature magic to blast at her foes, or she can turn it upon her allies and help keep them alive. Like all classes in Karos Online, the Mystic can specialize twice during her growth, and at level 15, she can become either a battle-focused Mage, or a Cleric who provides allies with a variety of vital buffs and healing.

Karos Online Introduces Holy Creature Mounts

NHN has released some more information about Holy Creatures in Karos Online, which is their upcoming free-to-play MMORPG. These holy creatures serve as mounts in Karos Online, and they can be summoned from a special piece of armour that can be worn on the shoulder. Once you get these pieces of armour, you can then summon your mount and ride it around. The first mounts to be revealed are the Wolf, a "deadly long-fanged animal clad in shiny armour," and the Dragon, a "mysterious reptile hovering above the ground." These, of course, aren't the only mount choices in total, as there are more that will be revealed later on.

Each of these holy creatures will be made of Iron Metal, and can then be upgraded through crafting to Holy and Gold levels. Since each upgrade also upgrades the armour piece, players can see each other's Holy Creatures, even if the player isn't riding them.

Karos Online is currently in Closed Beta right now, and NHN has confirmed that there are many changes being made to the game in response to European feedback. You can sign up for the beta at www.karosgame.com.

Mining And Fishing Revealed In Karos Online

NHN has confirmed today that there are many changes to be made on their upcoming MMORPG, Karos Online, in response to feedback from their European players. While the team believes that all of these changes will be very well received, they have only decided to slip tidbits of information through to the players: Mining and Fishing! These two features will be in the next Closed Beta Weekend event.

For fishing, players will be able to use fishing rods to fish in specific bodies of water in the world of Asmara. Players who decide to take up fishing as a hobby will be able to catch a variety of fish that can be sold to merchants, used as crafting ingredients (fish swords!), or traded to the "Fishmonger" NPC in return for the chance to win special items and Fletta Gem items through this fishy lottery system.

As for mining, players can dig and mine in designated areas with mining picks to find different ores and gems. These ores and gems, like fishing, can then be sold to merchants or used to craft weapons, armour and other items. You can also mine Fletta Gem Shards, as well as Fletta Gem items that evolve with your character. Most of the mining areas in Karos Online, however, will be centered in guild-vs-guild PvP zones, and will therefore be subject to weekly takeovers by ambitious guilds.

You can sign up for the beta here, and the next weekend Closed Beta Test event will be confirmed soon. Remember, if you have an access code for any Closed Beta Weekend, you'll also have free access to future ones!

Karos Online Beta Weekend, Races, Classes Revealed

As we reported, NHN is currently working on its first MMO, a 3D free-to-play fantasy game called Karos Online. Well, NHN just released information on the game's first closed beta schedule, as well as the races and classes you'll be able to play once the game launches in English in the fourth quarter of this year. Karos Online will also be released in German and Turkish.

The closed beta test is scheduled to be held from Aug. 21-23, and players can register on the game's official Web site to apply for a spot. During the event, you'll be able to choose between three different races: humans, Shadows and Seroines. Two more races will be made available during the open beta.

NHN Announces Karos Online Coming To Europe

Just the other day, NHN announced that their first MMO to be released in Europe will be a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG called "Karos Online." Karos Online is developed by Galaxy Gate, who are the same guys who developed Last Chaos. Previously, NHN has released many free-to-play MMOs through its Asian portal, "Hangame," and they have decided to branch out to Europe. Dongmin Lee, Head of Overseas Game Business Development at NHN notes that "our goal with Karos Online is to provide a gaming experience that players across Europe will enjoy for a long time to come." In Karos Online, players will enter a middle-aged world where they will quest and fight for the world's energy source, Fletta. According to NHN, "Fletta gems provide the basis for the game's unique and complex alternate progression system." Karos Online is due to be released sometime in Autumn of '09.
