So with 4.0.6 patch the Org fishing daily will now give epic rods, making a nice bonus to the guild rep and XP.

I believe they're just the rare rods you could get from the Dalaran fishing dailies, rather than new, improved rods. I could be wrong, though.

This is the first I've heard "EPIC" used.

Does having >525 fishing do anything?

I have a fishing hat, pole with + Fishing, and with bait - I should be ~625 (easily)

But what's the point? Does it help anything?

I believe that the poles are the same as the ones you could get from the Dalaran fishing dailies ie Bone Fishing Pole and Jeweled Fishing Pole. Which are kinda nice but I'll stick with my Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole in terms of sheer utility.

If that's all they've done for the fishing dailies, I'd say it's a pretty lackluster effort. Both cooking and fishing in cata leave much to be desired imo. The exclusive guild rep recipes aren't much for some of us to get excited about.

I recall there being a Huck Finn style fishing pole that was just a stick with a piece of string on it that was supposed to be one of the special drops - that got pulled from Beta and never put back I'm guessing?
