Goblin and Gnomish Engineering, questionsFollow

I have heard it reccomended you take Gnomish Engineering, make all the trinkets, then switch to Goblin Engineering for the other trinkets and explosives. Has anyone tried this, and if so how successful is it?

Also, from looking at the trade skills on this site, it seems the vast majority of items are learned from patterns, not from a Gnomish or Goblin trainer. In fact, it appeared to me the trainers only give you 3 or 4 items. Is this true, or am I misreading?

And as a note to others who have questions, there is apparently a book in a house north of Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris that allows you to change between Gnomish and Goblin. I haven't done this myself, obviously.

It realy depends on what you want out of the trade. I have run the "both Paths" route on my Lock, it was Nice because I fell in to the trap of Gnomish spec, Only to realise that at the "endgame" the Goblin stuff had a .... longer life. Sure the gnomish trikets are nice, but by level 60 they are outshined by other items(most of them not even engenering items). I would not throw my gnomish spec trinkets away, that would be stupid. Untill BC comes out life at 60 is all about consumables and goblin spec makes em.

So the long and short is that for me it was a good choice, yet I cannot recomend it for others, since we are on the verge of new content.

But you are right!!!! most of the stuff is spec independent, and the stuff that is spec dependent or BoP is not THAT great. When I peak at the new stuff in BC i laugh even more at the battle of the specs, as in BC the specs become even less disernable from each other. Honestly the biggest diffrence between the specs is where you transporter takes you.

I just took a few moments to look at some of the Beta stuff, and WOW i guess gnomish will be getting a little buff and goblin getting a slightly smaller one. (for locks at least)

You can have both, I just do not know that at level 60 it is worth while to try this with BC so close.

It's not on my 60, it's on a warrior alt that's lvl 33 and climbing, lol. So... Yeah, I'll try it out. Thanks.
