If you are on an established server (not one that says "new") i would recomend another gathering proffesion as the second one. Sure, you can make your own armor with skinning + leatherworking, but with the money you just made you can buy better armor than you can make. The only time it is worth taking leatherworking (or another crafting proffesion) is either on a new server, since there is a huge lack of armor with everyone needing it, and later on in the game, past 40.

Plus, with skinning, you can give your mats to a LW and he can make those blues for you, and you will still have the money to buy that other gear you saw on the AH.

Don't u think it's a bit boring to just gather, gather and gather. Me as a mining/blacksmither find it a lot of fun to make those armors and weapons. You can sell them or give them to guild members. U probably don't make as much money but most certainly it isn't as boring..

gathering is a way of exploring and is also good for levelling. nodes are often guarded by mobs. Boring? I don't think so. It's also one of the better ways to make money, instead of wasting sellable mats making useless items that nobody needs. What could be more boring than clicking on "create all"?

Going to side with Mike on this one, there is nothing boring about having cash.

also you do not HAVE to sell your mats you can stockpile them for your own needs....
for example:
If you were a herbelest/skinner(good combo for a Durid IMHO) you could be some leatherworker/alchmests best freind, and serve yourself. since you would have most of the Mats to make armor you would want, and some extra so you can tip the crafter in mats(what they want anywho), all that and you do not have to spend the money on training leatherworking, or making huge piles of useless items so that you can get 5 more skill adds. The method we have discussed lets the Doubbel gather have access to stacks of potions(alchemst are not hard to find and if they are your freind, you get your pots virtualy free)

The Boring Question, ever solo a devilsaur? is that boring? Have you ever felt a twisting in your gut hoping that you miss the patorle while you pick that Ghost shroom? When playing a class thats main selling point is the ability to "Go" anyplace, and mastery over Beasts doubble gathering can be the most exciting choice you can make.
