Can a tailor or a leather worker get a pattern to make Backpacks?

Not exactly, tailors can make other sizes of bags though, from 6-16 i believe, plus special ones for herbs, soul stones, and enchanting items.

As far as I know, there is only 1 bag pattern available for leatherworkers. This is the Kodo Hide Bag, which is a Horde quest.

My Hunter is a 300 LW, but Alliance, so I have never seen a craftable bag.

The current max slots for tailored bag patterns is the 18 slot bottomless bag. Specialty ones such as herb/enchanting/soulshard go even higher slot wise.

Personally I would just wait for TBC to be released than get a bottomless bag as they are very expensive. If you must have an 18 slotter go for a supply bag available through AD token turnins or an Onyxia Hide Backpack if your guild does Ony.

the kodo hide bag isn't even worth it. Takes like an hour of killing kodos just to get enough drops for a bag (atleast it did at 15 on my first character...maybe it's improved a little since than...)

Is the kodo hide bag a BoP...because u can put in the Ratchet/Gadgetzan/BootyBay AH and get ur ally char to buy...then u sell it for a lot of Money on ally side(its a hard to get ally bag...) and also how many slots is it.

I've seen the Kodo hide bag in the AH but it is only a 6 slot bag so it is of little value to anyone except for a newly started character.
