Which is better and what sort of stuff can they make?

Gnome = Trinkets
However, they can use each other's stuff unless it specifically states that you need to be a Gnomish engineer or a Goblin engineer to use it.

There isn't one that's better. If there was, everyone would do that and never do the other.

My engineering's not high enough to choose yet, but I've heard that Gnomish has some cool trinkets such as Gadgetzan teleport and such. I plan on going Gnomish.
