New to the game and need help w/ trade skillsFollow

#1 Oct 11 2006 at 12:52 PM Rating: Decent
I just started playing about a week ago. I have a couple of friends who play the game and have helped me with my first character. Leatherer and skinner.

Since then i have created a undead warlock with a trade skill in tailoring hoping to make my own armor.

So my quest is,
is there better classes for trade skills, like a warrior better at mining then a mage, or what is the best class race for choosing a tradeskill.

Class does not matter for trade skills. In certain cases, races may have an advantage (Tauren get +Herbalism, Gnomes get +Engineering). You'd think that dwarves would get +mining, but it's not so...

Each class can perform tradeskills equally. However, the tradeskills you choose may benefit one class more than another. Your idea of being a tailor while playing your warlock is probably a great choice! You will save a lot of money by being able to craft your own armor while you level up. A second profession that works well with tailoring is enchanting. You will be able to disenchant all uncommon(green) items that you craft with your tailoring skill for essential ingredients for doing enchants.

While tailoring can make you some armour it will not bring in much profit. Also the drops from instances will usually be better than what you can make.
For instance in Ragfire Chasm you can get

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=14148
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=15449

All better than you can make at that level.

Also by turning your cloth into armour you are not able to sell it, at low levels cloth can bring in good profit. I would seriously consider skinning+mining or herbalism as your choices, pass the skinns on to your other character and sell the herbs/metals on the Auction House.
