Dark Iron Ore Trainer-BRD-MapFollow

#1 Oct 04 2006 at 8:23 AM Rating: Decent
Hi,

I need directions and/or map to him, as direct and simple as possible, no rocket scientists here. We have been over there several times but so far no trainer sighted anywhere.

I am pretty sure I know what to do when I get there but if you want to add that too, will be appreciated and there are two of us who need him.

Another question, I undestand there is only one Dark Iron Smelter. Does that mean you have to go through the instance every time you want to smelt the ore?

Thanks

I can't tell you about the trainer, but I do know that you need to go inside BRD any time you want to work with dark iron. I've heard that lots of times from various BSers. They find it really annoying.

Mining Dark Iron requires 230 skill in mining, but the only way to learn how to smelt it into bars is by speaking with Gloom'rel, a ghost in the Summoner's Tomb in the Blackrock Depths and giving him 20 Gold bars, 10 Truesilver bars, and 2 Star Rubies. After you speak to Gloom'rel, a bowl will appear at his feet. Touching the bowl will give him his tribute. Speak to him again, and he will teach you to smelt.

It is important to talk to Gloom'rel before any other dwarf, as Hate'rel will begin the event to open the door, requiring you to kill Gloom'rel. Dead dwarves make poor teachers.

Gloom'rel and Hate'rel being 2 of the Seven Dwarves near the back of BRD.

Thanks! Now, a good map how to get to trainer and then all set. I dont mind going to BRD to smelt, will mind if have to go into instance or fight miners to get to it. Steppes is loaded with ore so if true then can mine on way or after smelting Black Iron ore.

K, found a good legend and map and you are so right that each time you want to smelt you need to go down there.

That is insane!!!

I agree its insane, but honestly, the instance isnt terrible and there is always groups forming for attunement, plus there are some good starter fire resistance items in there. I guess the best thing to do, is collect until you get a bag full and do a run.

The annoying part is that the place to SMELT the ore is nowhere near the place where you can USE the bars to make stuff. You can only smelt at the dark forge which is to the side of the bridge to MC, while you can only craft at the dark anvil which is where Lord Incindious is.

Fortunately, if you have already cleared to the black forge to smelt your bars, it isn't hard at all to go back and forge, and most groups will do it with you anyway - only two elementals to kill, then a boss that drops FR gear. Just run back to the back door of the bar and jump down.

The REALLY bad part is the amount of Dark Iron ore you have to waste just geting your Thorium Brotherhood reputation up to the point where you can get all the Dark Iron plans, much less the number of trips you have to take to the bar to turn them all in.

Thorium brotherhood rep is insane if you are doing it for the plans. If you have any intentions of doing it up to exhalted, then i hope you have a good guild, Actually you kinda have to have a good guild. OR its near impossible.

The bad part to that, to get the cores/leathers or whatever else you need, you have to find a guild that runs MC on a fairly consistent basis - On top of that you have to convince them to let you have the items. AND It gets worse, because most guilds have stopped running MC all together for obvious reasons (so many other instances too be doing).

Chances are if you dont find a guild in that middle stage, where they arent good enough for naxx yet, and they dont have MC on a farming basis - But then even if you find that - Chances are they are already pumping someone elses blacksmithing ect. And since your new you wont get to see the items until after the other persons rep is high enough.

The dark iron plate tank gear recipes arent that impressive.. there arent even any bonuses on the dark iron plate set.. just some stamina and fire resist.

The amount of time/effort required to get thorium rep to revered or exalted appears to be cruel to get plate recipes that produce average gear with inaccessable mats that apparantly only drop in MC (like fiery and lava core)

But if your good enough to do MC you might as well get the plate that drops in there, its seemingly alot better.

I think i'll keep my rep at honored and go no further.

Doing BRD might be enjoyable, but the instance takes half my saturday and thats alot of time spent to mine 8 peices of iron that smelt into 1 bar.

..or you save ore to create many bars. You can also buyout ore when prices (for stack of 8) are lower then 1 bar, ofc you only do that when you actually go
