I have been on a long break from FFXI and was thinking about coming back. But I think that moving to a new server would be cool.
My account has been active since being away from it because I knew I would be back one day and I didn't want to lose it. But haven't been on her at all for close to 4 months. I am a 75 PLD and a 75 SMN.
Was broswing through the threads here and seeing alot of helpful individuals. Makes me want to move to this server.
Wanted your honest opinion on what you thought about your server.

Probably quite similar to every other server; helpful/mean people, hnmls drama, some botting,epic winz and loses. I don't know about the ballista scene, but,I think we have a pretty good beseiged record.. If you don't know anyone on the server, it might be a case of 'same problems, less friends'.
Someone asked a similar question with a thread on the second page. I'm just going to copy/paste what I said on there to here.
endgame sucks. filled with botters in DA, a linkshell filled with account buyers (lolfr), and RMT everywhere else. Osode is 5 mil, don't know where you heard 800k. check FFXI AH for price checks on AH stuff.
ps. never switch servers for endgame. it's the same on all servers.... zomg linkshell drama nowai.
If you stay out of endgame, the casual scene is pretty nice actually. Lot of Spanish and French people also play on out servers; their sense of humor is different then everyone elses'. Beseiged record was okay, but we did lose the AC on Sunday and with this update and new expansion, it might be a couple weeks before anyone cares enough to go get it back. There are quite a few big linkshells devoted for casual players; Digital Back Spin and Soul Pirates come to mind.
Not to sure on the Ballista scene for our server, but from what I heard, it's decent if that's your kind of thing.

Ballista is dead on my server, makes me kinda sad.

I'd say all in all its a good server^^ Sure it has some bad spots, but really you will find that anywhere. I think the cool thing is that it is diverse enough to really find your niche regardless of how you play.
If you do come to the server and need a nice social shell to start out with, just let me know :)
