Hey Xoshua!

An All-Canadian LS sounds like a wonderful idea. I don't know how often I'd be using the pearl because I'm quite integrated with my current LS, but I think it would be nice to equip from time to time.

I was trying to bait one of my friends who play this game that are Canadian, didn't work. But at least you got to prove to the world you are a idiot. Let me explain. If it wasn't for the USA Canada would still be controlled by the french, thus speaking only the french language. Quebec is the only french-speaking province there. Which is why they want to become their on country.

But anyway I don't hate Canada was just trying to bait a friend.

First, Quebec is a province. Not a country.

And secondly, you're right in the fact that France at one point did 'control' Canada, but there was a few wars between England and France (not the USA). Without going into too much detail Canada eventually became a colony of England. We are now part of the Commonwealth. Which means we are still allied with the crown, but still our own country.

So you're wrong to say without the United States help Canada would not be where it is today. The United States were not (well actually they did ally with France at one point) any part of Canadas independance.

Try to make sure you have your information down before you post a comment like that, some people might get offended especially since the title of this thread is 'Canada'.

This topic got way off track and is becoming a worthless flame war. If you have nothing to say about a Canadian linkshell, please don't post it in here.

As to not be a hipocrit, I guess that a Canadian linkshell would fly, but it would seem hard to get many of the Canadian players out of their linkshells (unless they just don't like it).

Very good. I said that Quebec was wanting to break off and "Become" it's own country. I'm glad you noticed that though. And yes as I recall without our help you would have not been able to break off from the control of England in order to become your own country.

During the Seven Years' War (1756–1763), England extended its conquest, and the British general James Wolfe won his famous victory over Gen. Louis Montcalm outside Quebec on Sept. 13, 1759. The Treaty of Paris in 1763 gave England control

Quote:
At that time the population of Canada was almost entirely French, but in the next few decades, thousands of British colonists emigrated to Canada from the British Isles and from the American colonies. In 1849, the right of Canada to self-government was recognized. By the British North America Act of 1867, the dominion of Canada was created through the confederation of Upper and Lower Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.

So again. If it wasn't for us. There would be no you.

Incase your wondering where I got this. Here.

shidoshi,

Your post confirms what others on this thread have been saying: that the British were responsible for Canada being English-speaking, not the US. Read your own post more carefully.

On the other hand, you are, in fact, at least indirectly correct when you say that without you, there would be no us. Canada was a loose series of British colonies in the 1860s. However, in the aftermath of the Civil War, the British colonies feared that the North would try to take British North America as well, and take the entire continent away from Britain. That fear spurred the colonies into joining together in a confederation faster than they might otherwise have, and led to the birth of Canada.

I hate when Americans say Canada sucks. I hate when Canadians say America sucks. Comparing America to Canada is like comparing milk to butter. Sure they're both dairy products, but you don't pour butter over cereal, and you don't spread milk on your toast, do you?

And other than the timeless Dr. Seuss classic "Butter Battle Book", there are no arguments over dairy products.
