Hauberk now 7 million...when will the idiocy end...Follow

I need a hauberk. No, really, I need one. I cant wear Royal Knights body at 69+. It's a joke. Well, I'd saved for months as my War got ever closer to those levels. I passed 59...not enough for Haubergeon. I passed 65...getting closer, might as well wait for Hauberk. I get to Hauberk levels, and while Hauberk was once 4-4.5 mil...it's now 7 million god damned gil. What PRICK thinks it's a grand idea to do this? I dont care what the prices of materials are-most of these, looking at the history, are being sold back by guys who bought the god damned thing at 4 mil or so a while ago (I've kept track somewhat) anyway. Somewhere along the line, some ******* says 'derrr...I think I'll try and get more money for meeee' and ups it by half a mil. Next guy puts it up another half. Then another. And another.

What is it about this server? Berserker's axe has gone from 2 million to 4.5 million. Juggernaut is 9 million and climbing. This **** is NOT worth that much and people KNOW it. Inflation, you say? This is beyond normal inflation. This is greed, pure and simple. Normal inflation is something going from 4 million to 4.5 million or 5 million after a few months because items got more costly (somewhere along the line, again, some *** started the whole thing by upping the price on something)...not something going from 3.5 to 4.5 to 7 freakin million. No.

From what I understand...Lakshmi is one of the worst out there. Crawling with gil-sellers monopolizing drops even AFTER they become rare/ex (selling rights to LOT on things? FREAKISH MORONS)...everyone watching out for their own asses and trying to get a little more gil...a little more...and then a little more on top of that...out of the community.

WHY the greed...normal inflation does not cause a 1 million price climb in the space of a day. A cap should be set on what can be sold for how much. A basic maximum worth setting, if you will. For example, Hauberk should never climb above, say, 5 million. Or, maybe, SE should just scrap AH altogether restructure the entire economy of the game so that you buy everything from NPC's and if you get a drop from something else, it's yours.

Whatever the case...people...stop being so greedy. Every time you put something up for sale for 1k, or 10k more than it was before, you're helping the problem. Me, I look at the average going price and even then I usually undercut it a bit...but I NEVER try to put things up for more than what they were before. People put months, real life months, into getting enough gil to get some single piece of armor. And some *** dashes their efforts with one greedy move.

Or am I the only one who thinks that drastic action needs to be taken on Lakshmi? The economy is retarded...and so are many of the AH sellers, let's face it. Do me a favor...have a hauberk, or whatever is really ripping people off bigtime at the moment? Sell it to yourself. About 20 times over, to erase ALL visible records of the jackasses who tried to raise the price. Or at least put things up for reasonable prices, not the last highest price that some fool overpayed for.

I think, before you make an idiot of yourself, you should look into what the ingredients are to synth a Hauberk.

Quote:
Made from Recipe:

* Smithing (89) Clothcraft (?)
o Crystal: Earth
o Ingredients: Steel Sheet, Darksteel Chain, Velvet Cloth, Haubergeon, Silk Cloth
o Result: Hauberk
o HQ #1: Hauberk +1

As you can see, the main reason this piece of equipment is expensive so expensive, is you need to have a very expensive piece of equipment just to synth it.

Now, lets look at the ingredients for that expensive ingredient, the Haubergeon, shall we:

o Ingredients: Darksteel Chain x3, Darksteel Sheet x2, Damascus Ingot, Velvet Cloth, Silk Cloth
o Result: Haubergeon
o HQ #1: Haubergeon +1

The thing costs a pretty penny to make, mostly the Damascus Ingot at 6 Million. This isn't exactly an easy to get item; you can only get it from gods, or uncapped KSNMs (says cannotlinkto anyway).

So, if you're going to blame anyone for the increase in price for the Hauberk, blame the people who are selling the Damascus Ingots, and if you're so worked up about it being so expensive, from "greed" (which is perfectly acceptable, and there's nothing you can do to stop it), try grabbing your own ingredients and having it synthed for you, try and do some KSNMs, hire a group of BLM's to manaburn Desert Swarm for a chance at it.

And you'd better get used to these kind of increases in price. I've given up on trying to save up gil for certain items because of it, and maybe you should too.

Also: For every piece of Luxury Gear armor, there is a piece that can do it's job just as well. You don't need a Hauberk anymore than I need a Scorpion Harness. Which, frankly means that you don't need one. Just try some alternatives to the damn thing, and see how that goes, before you go on a rant like this again.

As Avelyn said, The biggest piece is (In the original Hauby synth) Damascus Ingot. I'm sorry if you don't feel the same way, But the people that are doing the God fights, Among other things, To get it, They deserve to set the price at what they wish.

If you say you REALLY need a Hauberk...

Then don't complain about the price.

omg, what a whiny baby. The people that make those items have every right to set WHATEVER price they want on it. They made it, not you.

If you want to stop them, then why dont you make it yourself? Instead of sitting there whining about the prices, why dont you find a way to make the hauberk cheaper, and sell it for that price.

Its sooo damn easy to combat the higher prices of stuff now. LVL A CRAFT!!!!

There's a lesson to be learned here: the worst thing you can do with your gil is just hold onto it. I try not to have more than a couple million gil one me, due to erratic inflation. Instead, I invest in a pretty good piece of gear that I can later sell back at market value, when I actually need the gil.

For instance, back when I got a Haubergeon, it was only about 3.5 mil, Valkyrie's Mask was about 600k and Sniper's Ring was around 700k. Today, Haubergeon has nearly doubled, while Valkyrie's mask is up to about 1mil and Sniper's Ring has more than doubled to 1.8 mil.

What I'm saying is, even if you're trying to save up 6 mil for something, take the gil you save along the way and invest it in stuff that will appreciate in value.

P.S. Inflation is never steady. Not all items will go up in price at the same rate, and some won't go up at all over a given period of time. After I bought Haubergeon late last year, it stayed at 3.5 mil to 4.0 mil range for months, even though other items were slowly increasing in price. I did find it a little disturbing when the price of Damascus Ingot / Haubergeon / Hauberk started to climb up very quickly over a short amount of time. But such is the nature of the beast.

People will charge what the market will bear. It's not just someone increasing their asking price by 500K, someone was willing to pay it. If someone asked a certain price for something, and someone else was willing to spend that amount for the item, then everyone else will start asking that price too.

It's simple economics. Stop being willing to PAY 7.5M for the item, people will lower the price. I blame the buyers frankly as much if not more than the sellers.
