Anywho, getting dentures have been in the planning stages for several months, as the teeth that remain (several being pulled over the last few years) are just falling the hell apart. About a month ago, I lost a chunk of molar and last Thursday, a bicuspid. Chunks that broke off below the gumline. For those of you who have never experienced such a thing, shoot yourself in the face with a nail gun to get the full effect of the pain involved.
The oral surgeon's office has been dickering with my insurance (which our workplace finally offered and put in place in January) as to whether the work I needed was a "medical necessity" as ordinary dental is not covered. So, on Friday I went to get what was left of the bicuspid pulled an LO! and behold the dentures were ready and the surgeons office must have got the go-ahead from Blue Cross, because I left there with all the top teeth pulled and a fancy new set of false teeth in their place.
So, after a visit to the dentist today to make sure they fit and all I get to leave them out for a bit as I had to leave them in for pretty much the first 48 hours so as to keep the swelling from preventing reinsertion, if you follow me.
While they are out, I strongly resemble this fine gentleman:
Geezer-face.
