It is important to notice that the title of this thread is in the past tense.

And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...

Bodhi, don't listen to these nay-sayers. Big gratz on your promotion to Head assistant to the assistant fry manager at Burger King.

Spit it out already. This means less time for you to post your self-serving tripe now right?

My first office as an intern was in a broom closet. Had to sit with half my chair in the hall way, and I had to prop the door open with a half opened desk drawer. I used to get beaned with paper balls by the other staff. Ahhhhh fond memories.

Oh I quit.

I had been at my job since October 2003. I disliked my job. My job was more important to my family and girlfriend than it was to me. Also the actual process of quitting this company is like no other. They take you into an office and have a chat with you till you are emasculated and crawl out the door. So I put up with a lot of bullsh[/Aliceblue]it in order to avoid the whole drama that would ensue if I quit. It went from me disliking the job to me feeling trapped and frustrated with my situation. I realized being scared of what "might" happen was *****.

So I just left. I know, how cliche of me to mimic "Office Space" but that is pretty much what I did. I left and didnt come back. My family seems to cool with it, work has called be numerous times asking if I want to come in for a "talk". I politely declined and asked them to forward my pay cheque in the mail and that there was nothing in my cubicle that I needed. I was polite and professional with them but I didnt care to jump through their hoops. The only one that really getting their **** in a knot over the whole deal is my girlfriend. I let her know after the fact. She has been responding much like Annette Bening in American Beauty. Not that she has been f[Aliceblue]
ucking any real estate agents on the side (that I know of) but just all up in arms.

Overall though I am in a good mood for the first time in a long time.

I hear ya Bhodi. When I got fired a couple of weeks back I didn't tell anyone in my family and just a few friends. Once I let them know it was as if they'd been waiting for me to quit. Seems everyone could tell I was getting pretty miserable. When I look back I was quite burnt out, and the last couple weeks of incessant boozing has really been good for my soul, though not for my WoW time. Anyway, I'm now fielding a couple of offers all of which are at least 6 grand a year more than I was making, and sound less stressfull. Change is gewd.

If you cant stand youre job, its never worth keeping. There are always options out there that could make you happier. Less money? Maybe. But after bills and mrtgage being covered, and the neccessities of life on your table, does more money make you happier if youre feeling trapped and frustrated 2/3 of your waking life?
