#52REDACTED, Posted: Mar 28 2006 at 1:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You know Jophiel, I'm definitely not the first one to sarcastically analyze the populace of the Asylum, but every single time someone actually does describe the Asylum from the point of view of an outsider, the you're-bitter-because-you're-not-accepted answer always comes up as the main flame/argument/retort. It's quite short-sighted to believe that everyone who "dares" criticize you guys would actually enjoy being part of such a weird and disconnected group of people who created e-friendships with the help of subtle inside jokes and references to songs/movies.

The most important thing in this thread, which most people are glossing over, is that someone thinks Coddy is "flat out funny."

Statements like that are why dictators ban free speech.

It's got all the makings of a decent sitcom.

Well, the question also arises of why anyone would waste their time reading a forum full of people they so obviously have contempt for. So far I've yeat to hear a real good answer to that one, so the "Actually kinda likes it but pretends he doesn't because he doesn't belong" theory makes as much sense as any other. Either that or you're worse off than we are because, hey, at least we enjoy it here for what it is.

I'm not going to try and justify myself why I'm here since my track record accurately describes the main reason I occasionally frequent this forum.
Yeah, see above. "Oh, this is place is just so stupid and so banal that I have no choice but to read it regularly. But only to note how stupid and banal it is. It doesn't interest me at all!"

But don't feel you need to justify it. It's coming through pretty clear on its own. You know, it's okay to just admit that you kind of like it -- US Weekly makes most of its fortune off people who are ashamed to admit they like reading it.

So when I see all these "people" grouped into one place, I cannot ask myself anything else than: what the f'uck.
You sure you're not asking yourself how come a bunch of one-dimensional slackers still think you're not worth the time of day while you sit here and read our uninteresting posts often enough to be able to write little screeds decrying the forum? Smiley: laugh

You know what people who really don't care do? They don't visit and they don't post. Because they don't care. You, my fellow poster, quite obviously care. But feel free to deny it.

Nah, the average newcomer doesn't spend the time trying to define and describe what 95% of us consider to be an amusing way to waste time.

Isn't that how any friendship starts? And what's wrong with it? Friends are what make life amusing, and if the Asylum is where they meet, greet and mock the tools of the world, kudos to them.

Friends at the touch of a button = convenience. Intellectual debate without the need for drugs, alcohol or going out in the pissing rain. Well debate and merciless poking with sticks. Certainly sounds like my friends.

Meko is uninteresting, full of misdirected rage and futile yearning, but I don't really see him as the whiney acceptance seeking tool so much as he appears nothing more than the purposely contrarian troll. Some "people" like to hold fast to the most extreme unpopular position just for the sake of being in their mind the persecuted minority and provoking the obvious responses that follow bold statements such as: "I hate **** and negroes; I'm rich, too, and you're obviously destitute because we don't agree".

Meeko would make a nifty suicide bomber. It's just that sort of persecuted hollow mentality that allows someone to feel so small that the only way they can gain attention is with a bang. Maybe you could explode yourself in a homeless shelter on gay minority disco night?

I see Meeko as being essentially equivalent to Coddy. Both are transparent twits with severe self-esteem issues who are desparately seeking acceptance and attention.

One of them just uses more words than the other.

I don't think one uses more words... just bigger ones. Compensating much?

Wow, Chester. That showed some real insight.

I doubt he'd do the suicide thing, though. Too much committment required. He might do the sniper in the tower thing if he had an assured escape route, though.

See, now I think that contrariness (is that a word?) is just a symptom of the larger problem.

I picture any typical clique and those outside it and how they react. The football jocks laughing at how the chess team wears their taped glasses and pocket protectors. The chess team laughing amongst themselves at how that football jock got a 31% on the math test. No matter which side you want to view as the "outsiders", they still seek social acceptance from their own peers through mocking the "different" clique.

But poor Meeko doesn't have a peer group here. So I'm left wondering who he's trying to impress. Us? Does he have friends at home he drags to the screen to point out how he insulted Psychojester and they all high-five one another? Is he jumping into this thread in hopes of making friends with Imamech? Is he just so lonely that the only validation he gets is self-************ gratification on this forum? But he keeps on posting, like a lonely football player saying "Hey guys, lookit those dorks! ... Guys? Guys?"

And that's why I figure him to be an acceptance seeking tool.

I think that's it, at least on this forum. Until he links us a hate-board where he has posted numerous times to the delight of his peers I'm inclined to believe he really is just starving for attention and realizes that a place where some serious thought is given to many posts and responses is fertile land for farming attention through extreme hatespeach. The irony is that he's getting quite a bit of attention here with our armchair psych-evaluations.

If the guy really is so secure due to his bigoted morality and financial superiority then I guess it truely is lonely at the top, and I hope that the enlightened masses remain devolved and broke by his standards.

That's much sadder than actually being part of the group with the hairdresser, inane guy, the nerd, Donner, Blitzen, Grumpy, Sleepy, the millionaire & his wife, the professor and Mary-Ann. Smiley: frown

Only because it amuses me to do so. I'm sure in a day or two we'll have collectively forgotten about him again.

Honestly, I can't name a thread beyond this one and the PJ one that he's posted to. And I thought it was Mikkle in the PJ thread until Meeko said in this one that it was him.

All I know is one posted a picture of themself once and they looked like the lost Pet Shop Boy. So that's my stock mental image of the generic plain-text Asylum troll. Meeko, Mikkle, Spinshark, ummm... that dude who said he was leaving and made an alt... the other guy who used to spam here.... yeah.

They're all Pet Shop Boys Smiley: laugh
