1. To see who would bite

2. Because I to think some of this is fairly amusing

3.Because I was bored.

And now time for a breif history on imamech.

Lets see, was kicked out of my house while in 10th grade sent to military academy. spent the next two and a half years there
finished senior year back at home in public schools. When I finished HS I moved in with my sister to help her get on her feet. Joined the US navy where I work up to 13-15 hours a day, including most weekends as an aviattion mechanic on the GE-F-404
tourbo fan jet engine. If any one here can drop and stuff a engine in less then 2 hours, work in a fuel cell and the have time for a social life let me know how its done. By the way, my working hours are from 3:30pm till whenever. So if I offended any one Im sorry.

They always fall back on those, don't they?

Kudos to you, man. Your diabolical scheme to trick people into responding to you has succeeded immensely. Sit content, knowing that not only have you outsmarted the whole of us, but also struck many a nerve with your stern yet accurate assertion that we were all made fun of in high school. Indeed, your tact is only equalled by your wit and originality.

I invite you to enjoy a smug sense of self-satisfaction. No, I insist. Go on, you've earned it.

Hmm. I'll counter that with a razor-like retort of the same potency as your initial post:

OMG hurry up and give me botanicals for fifteen species of native Illinois grasses for a dry mesic prairie reconstruction! No peeking on Google...

Why do people brag about being able to do some specialized job task that most folks could do if their own job required the same training?

I'm a whiny, self-important pseudo-intellectual snob who was kicked around for awhile and ended up in the Navy because I found that being isolated for months at a time with hundreds of other men just felt right.

Didn't bother fixing the rest of that because, well, it's just not that interesting.

On the topic of work, I just had a AAA member refuse to tell me where to tow his vehicle over the phone because "They" were listening and that the people at the resturant drugged him. Completely inane? Yes. But I still found it amusing like amusing me is hard to do, I mean I have an avatar of Patrick Stewart shooting Chunk, thanks to Warmaverick for enlarging it btwSmiley: wink2

This board is definitely two faced. On one side, you are offered some insightful perspectives about political issues and other mildly interesting topics. But the fun usually stops here.

After a while, you start witnessing the embarrasing debacle of adult role-playing where every regular is pressured into the creation and upholding of a stereotypical internet persona. You have the nerd, the smart guy, the innane guy, the random guy, and the list never stops. Yet, this little group of people not only aggrandize their situation by unifying themselves with one another, but by also casually accepting people into their group to portray another facade of elitism - the "acceptees" are usually nothing but sycophants with a somewhat discernable internet persona.

There's really not much else to it. You got a thousand boards like this on the internet, only this one is conveniently hosted on a very popular website which makes it quite hard to miss the daily idiocy that goes on around here.

So, can I hang out with you guys now?

Yeah Debalic it's Patrick Stewart, but I cannot place what that clip is from. I've tried to track it down but have had zero luck.

Gonna show off my geekiness here for a sec. It's from First Contact. It's when Picard and Alfre Woodards character are in the holodeck trying to escape some Borg and he actually sets them up.

The dinner jacket threw me; I didn't think it was a Star Trek. He looks like Daddy Warbucks from Annie.

I'm convinced the holodeck was an invention of the show's writers to escape the monotony of writing a Bridge Scene.

I see the role of "bitter guy on the outside trying to play Jane Goodall" is taken.

Yeah, the link for Forum=4 chases your cursor around and, sometimes when I'm trying to look up the Sword of Grooviness, it randomly redirects me here. Smiley: frown

You know which forums on Allakhazam.com I don't read? The ones I don't give a sh[Aqua][/Aqua]it about. I don't hang out there and claim not to care and I think they're all stupid but I have to read it because it's on a popular website.

What's the difference between the "nerd" and the "smart guy"?
