We keep guns because we like hunting, live in crime-filled environments, like the security, or because it's part of american culture. (and it IS part of MY american culture here in the west, maybe not for you weird east coast yahoos) Though I put mine in a gun cabinet....
Hold the train there, you brokeback cowboy. You can just take that there insinuation that East coast personas don't like guns and insinuate it right up the exit end of your ole alimentary canal.
Now we might not go around strapped up like John Wayne in these here parts, but we do know which end of the barrel to point at an intruder. I happen to keep guns because I like things that go boom. I like things that go boom and make other things fall down even more than that.
That stated, I tend to agree with Canadian law on the handgun issue. Handguns are tools made for the express purpose of killing other people, usually one at a time and only after making lots of noise first. I don't have a whole lot against the idea of killing other people, but if you're going to do something, do it right. There are far too many people to be killing them one at a time if that's what you're about. Hell, they breed faster than you can reload. Get something that kills a whole bunch of them at once, like a Britney Spears album. If you find a NEED to kill a particular single person, you should be able to improvise well enough with something close to hand such as a shotgun, knife, flatulence, or a big rock. Handguns are just a poorly conceived idea that have outlived their time.
The parent in this case should be shot. Ermmm, again.
