Hrm wasn't done like that where I worked... good thing I didn't like chili back then, heh.
At the one fast food place I worked at the chili came in a big plastic drum and had to be thawed. Not exactly the greatest, but at least there wasn't any risk of castoff junk in there (other then whatever the place that made it put in of course).
Fortunately, the chili wasn't why people came to that place. It was owned by an Iranian family, and they had yummy non-standard stuff on the menu like Kabobs (suspiciously similiar to a Gyro btw, but with totally different sauces and veggies) and baklava. And those were made from scratch and were *really* good. Burgers were pretty standard, but the shakes were really good as well. All in all, not a bad experience as far as fast food goes.
