Walmart is Hiring an Ethics CHief One of the gems for me in the story was that Walmart has repeatedly accused of ethics violations by labor unions. That's similar to being accused of human rights violations by Haiti.

So whoever takes the spot better have the last name of Walton or get a good golden parachute because they're doomed to failure if they can't muscle the rest of the management in the corporate office and how often, when it gets right down to it, does the human resoruces guy win if he goes toe to toe with the operations guy? This job is a cross. Whoever takes it will either bear it like a saint until the weight crushes them or climb up on it and be a martyr for the cause of better public relations.

On the flip side they will have allot of push behind them. With a position like that, the line:

"Oh RLY? Would you like me to go to the media with that answer? Do you think the board would like to wake up and read that headline over their bowls of cheerios tommorrow morning?"

will carry a bit of weight.

Not really. The PR folks control what gets in the news, and HR is the direct source of contact for the employees, so it seems a lot of his power is just inherent in making sure he keeps breathing and stays loose and limber so he's easier to pick up and show off.

it will be an inside man who will shout the company line, and his sole job will be making company policy sound like a moral objective.

basically, a spin doctor.

he will not be going head to head with operations, he will be PART of operations. the pr part.

here is the moto for bussines. make as much as you can, and spend as little as possible. people are an expense. health care is an expense. retirement is an expense. so....hire a bunch of part time workers at minimum wage, who are not entitled to benifits, and make damn sure none of them EVER retire while working for you.

whinny liberals screaming about "the american way"? fine, create an "american way" director, let him spinn company policy like the whitehouse does so the sheep go back to grazing in the fields and forget you are raping them.

sounds pessimistic doesnt it? sounds almost evil doesnt it? welcome to the moral majority, where money = morals. begining to understand why the muslims refer to us as the "great satan"?

this is the american way.
