Not sure if this is suited for this -- but I prefer to post here than main forums about this...

What are all these new ads on Alla, and some contains ads that involve gil and character buy/sell, and bots. Did Alla's policy for such matter changes?

Money talks Ama. >.>

For them to host a primarily free site (most are not premium members) they need another source of revenue to keep the site up.

FFXI.cannotlinkto also has IGE and other gil ads because those are probably the ones that pay the most to advertise on these sites. Unfortunate, but business.

It is not like I am against ads.... but gil and character selling companies are litte too much imo. I do not think Alla is that desperate for money to compromise themselves to companies like IGE ><

Post it on the main forum, althought I believe their answer will be to get a premium account to avoid the ads and pop-up, but like Leet said "Money talks".

I just realized that you dropped your premium account. LoL. That's why you're seeing them now. They've been around a while. >.>

Yeah I understand about moral compromising by putting up gil/account selling ads, but it really is money first, morals second. Not saying I agree with it. LoL Just what it has gotten to. Look at the tobacco industry. :-b

Yea I was just going to post that. When you cancel it, you get like a skelefied version of alla. Can't use advance search, cant use a journal, etc.

I'd recommend AdBlock if you are using Mozilla. I've been fairly happy with the results - no pops bothering my surfing.. It's almost like a cookie on Christmas Day!

Ala isn't selling ads to IGE. Whats happening is that ala cuts a deal with an advertising service for context based advertising. What that means is that the ads you see on the ala pages are targetted to specific demographics, and also to ffxi players. Well guess who is trying to advertise to FFXI players? IGE and the like. So its not allakhazam selling out, its advertising services selling ads to gil sellers to be displayed on FFXI related sites. Ala can't really do much about this without changing over to a this site only advertising model. This would severely limit revenue for the site. I know seeing gil adds sucks, but its just the way it is.

I want to know if it has anything to do with Alla being so freakin slow.... I have to refresh the page at least 5 times before it comes up... I almost sure it has to do with my pop-up blocker.
