My cousin came over my house this weekend and was intriged about FFXI. He would like to buy it in about 3weeks (after he gets DSL sadly he still has dial Up Silly Delawarians). Well I was tryying to find out where he can get an HDD and stuff because the old PS2 it has been discontinued (I think). The Keyboard and Adapter seem easy enough to get but the HDD seems like a challenge.

One possiblity seems to be sites like eBay which I did see the HDD on sale there but Im not sure if

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8200372628&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

IDK if this is good example but I dont remember what I bought sadly does this come with the Acount and everything.

When I bought the HDD thing for my PS2, all I needed else was a PS2 keyboard and a network adapter. Everything else should be included in a new package including the 30-day trial package when your friend signs in unless SquareEnix recently changed something.

You could still try your local videogame stores see if they got rid of them yet, but your best bet is probably like you mentioned, sites like Ebay, Amazon, etc.

When I bought my game for PS2, it came with the HDD. I have not shopped for it since Sony released the slims, but I am sure if you ask around you will find a store that has one lying around. If not, I would go to Amazon.com before Ebay. Ebay is rife with rip-offs and bootlegs, especially in movies and games.

There are ways to use a normal IDE HDD on a PSTwo.
I only got a Swedish webbie for it though.

http://www.rejoy.se/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=280

For about 60usd you can get it.
I have got no idea how it works/if it works.

*edit* How could i be rated down for this? O.o

I just got my PS2 version with the HDD for my wife last week so I know they still exist, you might just have to look around a bit.
