OK, I came home from work today to play, and my brother isn't on, which isn't normal. He said he was D/C'd earlier before I got home, and it wouldn't let him back on. It stays on the "Checking PlayOnline Version" part, and stops trying to continue, and eventually tells me a POL error, (something)-0020. Anyone else having these problems? It's not my ISP, and I've tried reconnecting any loosed cords. Who else is having trouble?

(It's pissing me off...) ^-^

Googling for POL-0020 returns the following:

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ffxi&message.id=69379

And a bunch of less useful crap. Apparently POL-0020 is a DNS error.

If, and ONLY IF, you're using a PC with Windows XP, click Start, click Run, and type the following command:
ipconfig /flushdns
What that will do is flush the DNS cache on your computer. It might work. It might not. If not, call your ISP or Playonline: https://secure.playonline. com/supportus/index.html. (Alla won't let me post the correct link because I hit the Silly Filter.)

elix... I dunno how long I've ever been working with ipconfig... I never have done/known of /flushdns. I usually just release and renew and I get a new dhcp... if dns is an issue, it's usually not me but my ISP. Anywho, had to give you rate ups for opening my eyes to /flushdns, /registerdns & /displaydns...

Usually when you can get online to post a thread, it's not your ISP.

Thanks for the rateup. ^^ I work for a large American dialup ISP (hint: butterfly). We do that sort of thing far too often. (As well as reset TCP/IP.)

It's probably not PyroIdiot's ISP, but they might be able to give him more guidance. Maybe the router settings decided to dance around?
