Jiraya the scammer?Follow

#1 Aug 03 2005 at 1:49 PM Rating: Good
Ok I am curious of any information that may solve the riddle that is this new screenshot that I took from the Main forums. The picture shows a person named Jiraya having a conversation with a GM. The GM taking his gil over a fraudulent transaction, yada yada...

Screenshots:

Now is this the Jiraya from Bismarck? or just someone on another server with the same name. If it is our Jiraya anyone have more information than the screenshots?

yup i saw that too as the key piece this was from bismarck :)

The only reason that i have doubts as to the validity of all this is that in the past GM's have made it clear that they do not interefere with player transactions, i mean look at all the people who bought an insect wing or leather boots for 1,000,000 gil because some asshat switched at the last second.

GM's made it clear, tough **** be more careful. Why would they step in now?

The only reason i can see is if the gil "did not exist" in that it was duped. Other than that why the sudden chaneg in policy.

Off topic, but i think SE should have GM's and also have some form of "High Court" where you could protest sales or agreements that involved someone getting scammed. They would have access to the logs, after filing a complaint both plaintiff and defendant would show up and plead their cases and a "judge" or "jury" would decide what the resolution would be.

If that had been me I would have asked the GM taking my money to get my damn item backfrom the player who gave me the gil. If they are gonna reverse my transaction they need to FULLY reverse it and ensure that I have my item back.

That being said id really like to know more about THIS situation.

Tse you're prolly right, it most likely fake. I can't picture a GM doing that. People can do Amazing things with Photoshop or w/e

Hmm. I found this interesting:

I just saw this.

I'm not stating one thing is necessarily true because of another here, just very "ironic."

Dante told Sing when he first came back from WoW he threw away his Intensity pearl, so he lied about that because he did not.

A few (or a couple) weeks back I was on LS and Dante VERY BRIEFLY appeared on the LS list, just long enough to /boot Zariko from the LS. He claimed his "little brother" was messing with his character and did that accidentally. He could have been trying to send him a /tell and hit Kick accidentally...fair enough. Not 60 seconds later this Shagha shows up on our LS claiming to be the mule of one of our members, Lockhart. He said he was doing a Promy with some friends and needed to borrow my Emporer's Hairpin. At first, I was curious because only Sing and Tsetsuo's mules have pearls in our LS.

He begged for awhile, then started sending me /tells about it, and I started to notice the more I questioned him the more desperate he appeared, and his grammar started getting poor. Lockhart always has exceptional grammar, never use "u" instead of "You", stuff like that. I asked him to log onto Lock real quick to prove to me it was Lock, and he said "I didn't pay my bill, this is someone elses account." I said "I thought it was your mule, not a buddy's account?" He got quiet. I booted him from the shell. I followed Dante's cousin Jiraya around Jeuno for awhile thinking it may have been him, because well, he's pretty damn sketchy. I found this Shagha, mithra lvl 1 mule and stood next to it for awhile. They got uncomfortable and logged.

Bout a week later Dante sends me some tells asking me why I got him kicked from his LS. One, I didnt even know what LS he was in and two, I dont know who the LS leader is. He was all pissy about it, though. Dante was telling Leeluu in /tell he thought it could have been Raikku doing it, so I sent Raikku a /tell "Shagha" and he sent back "hi2u~" which made me laugh cause Raikku is such a dope, but I don't think he did this. If he did he can burn in hell, but I still suspect Dante and/or Jiraya. Too many "coincendences" for them to not at least know the person who is doing this, even if it is not them directly.

That was from Eckz's scam post and it makes a lot of sense since Cassie was going for 1.9 mil when this scam happened. All we need now is to have Eckz or Drebond confirm that their gil was returned to them.

I agree gob, or when he said "its up to you to get your money back from your friend" Jiraya's response should have been ok, contact him and exlpain it to him or get us all in 1 PT so we can discuss it or whatever.

I mean **** would you believe that if someone sold you something and then came back and said a GM took my money so give me the item back.

Since ecks was scammed the ToS was updated, now It says you can't "break a promise" so now they can track you down and take the gil back. I do find it odd that the person in this post never mentioned what the actual item was, and didn't really seem too interested in getting it back. Ecks didn't get the gil back because the policy was changed after he was scammed.

edit - spelling, added last sentence.

Who cares if they didnt say what the item was. It doesn't matter. What does is >IF< this happened the guy should have gotten his item back. Tell me what is easier and faster to say, Scorpion Harness+1 or item?
#11 Aug 03 2005 at 5:57 PM Rating: Decent
Because if he really did scam someone he could have traded a lizard tail to his friend who scammed some guy just to say he traded an item for it, he also seemed to have no real interest in getting the item back, he wanted the money. If the item was important I'm sure he would have used the name of the item.

Also realise, I'm not sure where this was originally posted, but with out any backstory you can't really say who's wrong, I was just saying it was odd.

If I remember correctly, they were doing the old Bone Earring/Cassie Earring trick, as well as the Serket Ring/Copper Ring, or whatever ring looks like the Serket ring but is crap.

So, obviously they don't give a rat's *** about getting a crap item back.

Actually in the post th GM says that the player that she (im assuming its a girl just becasue the name sounds femenine) traded the item to had gotten the money in a dishonest way.

Im still intrigued by this if its real then apparantly GMs are taking some action against scammers (which is a good thing), but what I want to know is are the GMs gonna tarck down all the stuff that the scammers bought and take the money back fromt he sellers of those items? Thats the part that disturbs me.

Oh well the GM did refer to them as "freinds": so maybey he had looked through logs and seen some information taht was not displayed in the pictures.(which seem to be pointedly in the favor of the person who is haveing their money taken). the GM does also mention Fraud specifically.

Id still like ot more actaull information.

i think the guy is clearly lieing. his friend stole the gil and shared it with him IMO. the reason i think this is because he kept saying "I sold an item" he never named that item. you know damn well if that were true he'd have said something to the effect of "I sold him a cassie earring" or "I want my cassie earring returned to me then". the gm's can track items just like gil so he knew he might as well not name one cause they would find no evedence of it.

if it was me and a GM took my money the way this guy claims it, the chat log would look something like this.

ME: OH MY GOD I SOLD HIM A ******* BEHEMOTH MANTLE CHECK YOUR LOGS

GM: im sorry im taking the gil away from your account now

ME: THEN GIVE ME BACK MY ******* BEHEMOTH MANTLE

Those are true screen shots of the event. Jiraya is in my LS, and was online talking to us as soon as he got out of jail. The pics were up on our LS forums with in minutes of the event.

The event did take place. I have been warned about Jiraya and the possability of his involvement in the Cassie/Serket scam and have been watching him closely and listening for any word of it happening. As-to-date I haven't seen any proof of his involvement with the scams.

The GM didn't talk about scaming people or anything of the sort. All he said was that the money was stollen from someone and that the person who bought the item from Jiraya had no right to spend the gil. The GM was wrong for what he did and Jiraya has talked to SE about it and they agree. Whether or not he will get his gil back is a different story.

If anyone has proof or anything that shows Jiraya's involvement in these scams please let me know as we do not want someone like this in our LS. As I said, I haven't seen anything yet to say he was involved, but I have been warned by a few people that I know and trust.
