They finally did it...

I am -so- glad I sold that Archer's Ring two days ago.

Personally, I see this as:

1. A strike against the bots/gil-sellers who camp these NMs for profit.

and

2. A chance to help more people get better gear easily.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

EDIT: Here's the link to the POL site proving this: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10&mid=1121701813287599049&num=28

I'm thinking these will be moved to BCNM or ENM. Lizzy and the Emporer will now drop Rare/Ex items occasionally that are comperable for the campers to have.

As a result I'm sure the prices of these items will go up, but if a person has a good LS to help them they can get the items via BCNM/ENM versus camping which is a good thing.

I don't have the time it takes to farm enough to afford these items, nor do I have time to camp the mob. I do, however, have an excellent LS who is willing to help me in BCNM/ENM's [:yipee:]

All in all I'm excited to see these changes for myself. I'll be waiting until August though, we're buying a house this week and I won't have much play time for a while.

Best part of the whole update, now the only people camping those NMs will be people who actually want the drop, not the gil.

I sure hope so, but not neccessarily. The gilsellers may just start doing what is done with the Black Belt items in the HNM scene. For those unaware, the three items: Wyrm Beard, Behemoth Tongue, and Aspidochelone Egg are Rare/EX, dropped by the 3 earthen gods, and are turned in for the MNK item, Black Belt. The items are routinely sold to people who are invited into the alliance to lot. Unfortunately, this system might allow gilsellers to do the same.

Although there's nothing to say you could get invited to the PT, lot, and get the item without paying the gilsellers. ;p

I think gilsellers will just move up to sky and full-time farming, killing genbu or anything that is profitable. You can't stop gilsellers, it is gillseller's decidsion to stay or leave like every other MMORPG they invaded out there. You can't remove gilsellers from this game without destroying the whole ecconnomy system in the game by removing all possible profitable luxury items and turn into ex/rare in the game. It is a fact alot players now is much richer than players back in 3 years ago. The total amount of gil exist in the game now is about 5 times(probably alot more) than 3 years ago. Taking away more luxury items from the game will only result in other luxury item's price increase.

Gillsellers were used to be a part-time skyraider. What i can imagin is in the near future gilsellers will band together and become full-time sky raiders to obtain items suchs as Venomus claws, Shining cloth, Divine log and Siren's hair. Luxury items such as those will probably increase in price, except shining cloth since there is another way to get them now.

Gilsellers are like "Tigers" who invaded our "Mountain", we all believe they are threats to us. Some people think kill them (MPK) can solve the problem, it didn't work. Some people think kill some of the "wild animals" (items they currently farming), take away their food chain and hopefully they can starve to death. But chance are they might have to go to your farm and eat "your dog, your cat and your cow" (Sky god or any other profitable farming). In the end it is still their decision to rather remain in the "Mountain" or leave to seach another one.

You may not going to see them at the "Usual camp" from now on, but they will be somewhere else out there as long as they decide to remain in this game. . .

It doesn't mean i oppose what the new update is going to be. I just think gilsellers aren't going away just as easy.

Actually, I think the prices will go down. People were buying them because it became nearly impossible to camp them yourself. People who already had the drops kept camping them, and those repeat campers (often gilsellers) will now be gone. I think the coming few weeks the dunes will be even busier, but this time with people mostly inexperienced in hunting Emperor.

That leaves some guesswork as to how the new items will be called:
Archer Ring : Chyme Ring (ex)
Leaping Boots : Jumping Boots (rare/ex)
Emperor Hairpin : Mayfly Hairpin (rare/ex)
Peacock Charm : Argus Charm (rare/ex)

That's exactly what I was thinking. To play the devil's advocate, if a player sees a gilfarmer claim, say Valkurm Emperor, they may send them a /tell asking if they could purchase it for a certain price. It's sad to think of but people will do it, instead of waiting a few more hours or even days to attempt to claim it for themselves.

We'll see, I guess.

Guys, this is a huge source of income for gilsellers, if they cant sell it on AH there isnt much ways for them to make it profitable with respect to time.

What will happen is......they will move on to WoW.

Ya I think I just spent 2 million gil a couple weeks ago to have a mule with gear it doesn't need now. I'm seriously hoping they didn't make the original items rare/ex since if they did then SE basilcy just stole 2 mil from me.

I haven't been able to check yet because in the past 9 hours i haven't been able to update, although i've gotten very close twice (87% and 94%) before SE booted me so that "other people can update" (quote from a GM).

... they will not stay in FFXI on when they can move on to other games that will be more profitable, seeing as a major source for income will be lost. Some gilsellers will stay and farm sky and other NMs like that ViceVersaIII crew (Forlove, Mamici, Malindy, etc.) Other gillsellers such as the Toms will have to give up completely and move on seeing as they cannot camp anything else.

(this was for you trolls who didn't get what I wrote to begin with... WoW was just an example, the could move on to Lineage2, EQ2, etc.)
