We have discovered an issue with the PlayStation(R)2 version of FINAL FANTASY XI Expansion Disc: Chains of Promathia. Cancelling the installation by pressing the\\\"Stop\\\" button may cause all FINAL FANTASY XI data to be lost, necessitating a complete reinstall of FINAL FANTASY XI.

* Note that pressing \\\"Stop\\\" during the installation will display a confirmation screen. This screen prevents accidental cancellations.

If you encounter this issue, you will need the original FINAL FANTASY XI discs in order to reinstall the game.

Please note that you must reinstall FINAL FANTASY XI if the Chains of Promathia installation is cancelled in any way. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Now I am scared to death to even get the damn expansion. WTF?

Yeah, but if you've ever used PS2 much, you'd know it may "cancel installation" on it's own ><

I'm getting REALLY tired of all these "inconveniences." Why is it so hard to test things, I ask you?

Now that I've gotten that out of my system...

Well, I guess you just gotta hope for no poweroutages, powersurges, the plug coming out, kicking the thing, etc. Guard that thing with your life, attack all those who would endanger it!

...or something >_>

Yeah I just saw that and I am kinda nervous myself because my PS2 has a habit of restarting itsself at the greatest times. Also I lost my registration code for FFXI so I'm hoping that it doesnt need me to have the code to install it.. ><

I'm insanely scared about this new "issue". My PS2 restarted 3 times when I first bought FF11 back in March. Talk about an eleven hour download... So yeah, I'll guard my PS2 with a baseball bat from anything. Now the question is how do I guard it from itself?.......

Umm, I cant even get CoP until Sept. 24 apparently, its been delayed in Canada due to Ivan (???), nevermind that I'm on PS2 and now I have to worry about my whole game erasing....I'm more than slightly annoyed a this point ><

Even the most tolerant people can lose it sometimes and I'm getting mighty close ; ;

Oh you'll need your code if you have to re-install for sure.

I'm seriously considering waiting a week and allowing you all to be my "test pigs," so to speak, before I get CoP. Me sad.

Why be worried? Character data isn't stored on the HDD, it's stored on the server (so I'm lead to believe, I'm not a terribly technical person but this seems right, otherwise character data could be hacked and modified).

If the absolute worse happens and you have to reinstall from scratch, the only pain with that is that you a) loose your screenshots b) have to download all that patch data again (which would suck).

I'd be happy to be your guinea pig, I preordered and paid for my PS2 version of CoP, hopefully will have it by tomorrow and I'll post if I run into any issues ^^

Yea, I can't get mine until Friday too. ; ;

And that's really strange, to let a bug like that slip under their noses...

Re-writing macros is all I gotta say when asked "waht's the worst than can happen?"

True, you won't lose your char. data, but I cannot even fathom the hassle it would be to re-install the whole damn thing. It would be like getting a flat tire in bumper-to-bumper highway traffic. Not the end of the world, but fuck...

I'm gonna go visit a few places tonight, if anyone will have the game it would be these guys. They're notorious for getting their hands on games earlier than everyone else so I'm hoping they'll come through for me again *crosses her fingers*

If i can get it, I'll do the install tonight and let you all know how it went tomorrow.

Well, the problems with the installation canceling usually occur when your patching off the internet right? But this is an install off a disk, if I'm not mistaken we already got the CoP patch last week so no patching over the internet will be necessary. Just don't hit that stop button and you should be okay.

And take it from someone who already corrupted his hard drive once, reinstalling the entire game is a serious pain in the ***. If you corrupt your hard drive you can look forward to having to reformat, reinstalling POL, reinstalling FFXI and the Zilart expansion, then CoP...I don't even want to tell you how long that could take.

Damn, first i have to wait longer to get the expansion, now i gotta guard my PS2 while i install it.... all i gotta say is it better be the best beer ever
