First, VIT does not affect HP, only race and class and items.

Second, /nin is not the only sub for thf, /war actually does more damage than /nin, by a good margin.

Third, war/mnk is still a good tank all the way through 75, plds and nins are not the only tanks out there.

(C'mon, I know you're out there)

Does anyone know where such a list can be found?

^^ I wanna have fun with some of my macros.

Ok, so I have a lot of free time on my hands. Sue Me.

Here ya go miss Merodi. List of macros up to Chains. When I list the new ones for it, I will re-edit this post.

How does one set an /lsmes? I take it you need to be a sackholder?

actually you almost answered your own question. Its quite easy just type /lsmes set <insert message here>. LS leader and sackholders alike can set LS message. I am not the leader of my LS but a sackholder. I change it all the time.

But really, anyone can change the /lsmes of a LS - even pearl holders. The LS leader can actually change who has the ability to leave /lsmes through some / commands. So if you are a sackholder and can't leave a message, then the LS leader has the /lsmes on the highest filter.

I posted this at the RDM forum. But no one seems to know:

I read from a thread somewhere that 3 Enhancing Magic Skill = 1 MND. Anyone know what's the conversion rate between Enfeebling Magic Skill to INT/MND? How about Elemental Magic Skill as well?

Hello I've got a rather embarrassing question to ask. I recently purchased a link shell. I can't seem to figure out how to open the blasted thing. Any advice would be appriciated.

Not embarassing at all, not many people have ever had one ^^

I believe you use it like an item, go to your items list, select it and use it. I could be wrong, it's been a while since I've done it.

If I recall correctly, once you go to your Options >> Linkshell and go to Equip it, then it will ask you to assign a color and name for the Linkshell.

After it allows you to equip it, you can then go back to Options >> Linkshell and it will have a tab that says Create Pearl. You then use this to create the pearls you pass out to the members.

Thanks for the replys to my question. I had tried both of these to no avail, my pc would just beep at me and the shell remained unchanged and "grayed" out. But I finally figured it out, after much experimentation (moon phases, element days so on a so forth).

It turns out that you have to unequip an existing link pearl or sack before you can "open" a freshly purchased link shell. Oh who else found it crazy hard to set the color correctly?

Anyhoo, thanks again!

I didnt have any problem setting my ls's color... but then again, it is kinda a generic shade of green, lol

also, you ask why a lvl 14 has a ls.... well... the lower your level, the cheeper they are...
at least the level of the first class you pick... or your highest level or something

it was 5k when I was level 5 and 8k when I was level 8 (before I switched to war)

No one asked but since Night put such a helpful list up here I figured I would too. (Thanks Night ^^ I printed that out).

For anyone who hates looking up food elsewhere to see what effects it has:

Quick Food Guide

I got bored a long time ago too ^^; I'm still bored come to think of it. Anyway, hope someone finds that helpful.

Third, war/mnk is still a good tank all the way through 75, plds and nins are not the only tanks out there.

That's simply not true. I partied with a WAR/MNK just last night who could not keep hate at all. I fired one arrow and I would take hate. WAR/NIN is decent at keeping hate, but WAR/MNK can't keep hate unless all the DD in your party simply suck at their respective jobs.

This has been addressed several times in this forum, and some *very* convincing explanations have been advanced for why this is simply not true. I don't remember it well enough to give all the details - could someone with a premium account please dig it up? It talks about how events on the game are timed on different 'tracks', which are spaced at different intervals of time (up to 24s (IIRC), which is why when you heal, it takes about that amount of time for a 'tick').

All in all, the explanation demonstrates how the game is structured to cancel out any potential advantage that the Japanese would have from physical server location, and I've never seen anyone prove it wrong.

Cheers!

The thing about this is, I've read every latency thread and everyone quotes numbers and such how it is perfectly even.

Well, my LS campes HNM, we constantly lose to JP using Provoke, and we use chi-blast and charm. The 2 fastest claiming devices. My macro is as good as it gets.

You can say all you want about how there is no latency, but ask any HNM LS, we see it first hand. I've seen mobs provoked before their image reaches the screen.

All the numbers in the world cant change my first hand experience on the subject.

I don't mean to start a "this job is better than this job" type argument but I feel the need to reply to Theophany's post regarding war/mnk and it's ability to hold hate.
Quote:
That's simply not true. I partied with a WAR/MNK just last night who could not keep hate at all. I fired one arrow and I would take hate. WAR/NIN is decent at keeping hate, but WAR/MNK can't keep hate unless all the DD in your party simply suck at their respective jobs.

I have a strong inkling the war/mnk you partied with may have sucked. Was he using food? Was he boosting inbetween his provokes? What weapons was he using? If he was using great axe, please tell me he was using sturmwind.

The fact is war/mnk has many more tools to keep than a war/nin. By far. The only thing war/nins bring to the table is blink (dont even try to cast the elemental ninjustsu, they just wont stick). I'm only level 40 so I've not had much experience with the debuffs (blind, paralyse, slow, ect) maybe they stick better?

Nin have no other usefull job abilities that can help a warrior generate hate. Monk on the other hand offers: boost, dodge, and counter (which is huge). The hp and vit boost also greatly help out in the tanking department.

Theopany keep in mind that before the Rise of the Zilart expansion the ninja job didnt exist. Yet there were warriors that were high level and tanking. They were subbing monk.

Dont get me wrong, I love subbing ninja, its awesome fun. But monk is just a viable sub in a lot of cases. I know that unless theres a thf in the party I may have some problems controlling aggro when I take a war/nin. As a war/mnk I'm a little more confident in my hate holding abilities.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to "call you out" or anything. I'm just trying to make people see that there is another alternative to war/nin. I hope you get the oppurtunity to see that war/mnks can hold thier own.

Ofcourse the level cap was also much lower than it is now enabling a war/monk to actually survived tanking.

In all I say go war/monk and war/sam if you like to do more damage than war/nin. In fact, keep a variety of subjobs depend on party situations. If party is good and DD knows when to go all out and when to restrained, war/monk or war/nin won't have trouble holding hate.

I take no offense from you post. I'm just starting that nine of the WAR/MNK I've partied with post-30 can keep hate unless I watch the number of arrows/bullets I shoot, which is not true with PLDs. With a PLD or a good NIN tank, I can go wild and still not take hate, even using Barrage.

Maybe you've never partied with a RNG before, but if there's hate to take, we take it. It's why most of us sub NIN. WAR tanks just aren't up to the task of keeping hate with us around in the party, sadly.

Here's a question that I need answered,
Do you need to do the Genkai missions for each job, or is it once you do it, it's done for all jobs?

This is true, even at lower levels - they're on par with mages for taking hate. The last party I had with a RNG, we had a PLD, a WAR, and a NIN pulling hate off the RNG and I. We were generating pretty equal amounts of hate.
