Because I haven't seen a thread about it in a while, this is where we share how we're doing.

So I took a bit to start raiding inactives and got off to a rather slow start. I am chugging along nicely and just exited noob protection.

Shielding Technology (level 6)

Hyperspace Drive (level 4)
Laser Technology (level 7)
Ion Technology (level 4)

I have four colonies with my original planet the most heavily fortified. As of now I am working on getting my Nanite Factory. As for ships, the best I have is some Battleships. I still need to work on my bombers and further ships so I can get into some serious raiding (I don't even think I can take a Lg Shield Dome down atm Smiley: oyvey).

This game is pretty fun though, it's nice to have a kind of MMO that I can drop in for 3-4 ten minute visits a day and get stuff accomplished. I just wish I had stuck with my original account as I'd be much further along.

I used to play that game...I was in the asylum alliance thing, just couldn't get into it.

I have a feeling I'm doing everything wrong. I know my espionage should be a lot higher. My Robotics is up to 9 so I can almost taste the speed increase.

I really tried to get into EVE (this game seems like a poor comparison), it just seemed rather outrageous how many skills there were to level up in it. This is much simpler and less time consuming.

I'm not in the mood to go over and find out my exact numbers. But I'm working on getting Plasma tech at the moment. I needs me some bombers.

I had this great idea to get started on getting the 300k energy I'd need for Graviton, but it seems it's not working. I took a colony ship way out as far as I could get it from my home planet. It's about 3 galaxies away in the middle of no where.

The plan was to hide out there and just colonize the whole system sending all extra crystal to the planet closest to the sun and build up a shit ton of Solar Satellites. The problem of course is that that planet gets probed more than any of my others. I'm scared to start building things worth taking there now. There is no one around me at all, not sure why it's such a popular spot.

The only realistic way to get the extra energy needed is from Solar Satellites.
As the amount of satellites makes you an extremely desirable target in terms of being easy to destroy and providing a profitable debris field ideally you want to research it at a (remote) location where you are unlikely to be attacked, and secondly you need to produce the solar satellites faster than other players can notice your increase in fleet number in the statistics and send out their fleet to attack.

Ideally therefore the production and research should take no more than a day and this can only be achieved with a Nanite Factory of level four or higher

To calculate how many satellites you need, turn off all your mines, subtract your total energy from the basic cost, and divide this by the production per sat for the planet you are carrying out the research on. Planets closer to the sun will require less sats and less resources as they are hotter. Make sure you have enough resources available to build all the sats in one go.

Also, Rime just researched Gravitron, you might want to ask him.

I didn't do it in one go, and I certainly don't have a level 4 nanite factory. However, 200 plasma turrets and 70 anti-ballistic missles seemed to be enough to ward off players ranked even in the 500's. It took me about 3 days of building solar sats but I got it. And the Death Star is oh-so-worth it. Smiley: grin

The speed on those things are ridiculously slow. I imagine you have to have a jump gate to even use them.

I consider them a defensive structure. Behind 10,000 rocket launchers makes them damn near invincible.
