Now, as for the remark that there are plenty of people making music that never changes, that's what I don't like about that Carrion song and the other stuff you uploaded for me. There's just nothing challenging about it. Lyrically, musically; it's just all so boring. I feel like I've heard that song a thousand times, by a multitude of bands.

Yeah, sorry but I'm obviously going to disagree here. I mean there was a fair bit of variety in that mix. I guess maybe 5-6 of them were pretty similar in sound, the more dreamy sounding ones. But there were a few straight up rock songs on there. I have to admit I was surprised you didn't like the Spoon song. Seemed right up your alley to me. Not a million miles away from QOTSA.

I can accept that you found them musically boring. That's more of a taste thing, fair play. I like a lot of slow, dreamy stuff that 'takes me away to another place' in a rather cliche way. I know that's not everybody's thing. But there was some variety!

The lyrics comment seems quite odd though, was that just a throwaway comment or did you actually listen to the lyrics?

And what do you consider challenging, by the way?

Youtube version of There She Goes My Beautiful World. Sound quality not so good, and he's more tuneful on the CD, but it gives you a bit of the idea.

Whatever happened to nLoD anyways?

I don't think I've seen a post from him in a couple months.

I'm home from work now so I have youtube. I had almost forgotten what QOTSA sounded like. I feel I must apologise to Spoon for mentioning them in the same few sentences.

What a jangly go nowhere bullshit mess that was.

Also, on my way home from work today I was listening to British Sea Power and I came to the conclusion that anyone who cannot enjoy their music is a waste.

Play this. Play it fucking loud.

In fact, go play carrion again but play it 10x as loud.

That should make you feel alive.

Edit: Added an extra **************

That's more my style. I'm old. I need music that grooves to remind me I'm still alive.

Check out the Arcade Fire link I posted, the song is eerily reminiscent of some Bruce Springsteen stuff. Lyrics here if you're interested.

Also, yeah, I saw Bob Dylan just last Monday. His band was great, but he really just doesn't have it any more. He might be able to write good music, but his voice is shot and he just doesn't have the young people paying attention anymore.

Elvis Costello, on the other hand, was great.

The Arcade fire are terrible. Though I can imagine BT oddly enjoying them.

My dad likes them, his taste in modern music is no good but he likes a lot of cool older stuff.

I guess when I get old I'll probably drift into that horrible dad-rock stage that almost all old people who used to have decent taste seem to go eventually. I hope not :(

No, they suit just fine. Neighbourhood #1 is ok. They're pretty similar to quite a few bands I like. They're just horribly overproduced shite made for 12 year old kids and their music makes me sick.

Are you old Dodobird? That would explain it. You have a cool album as your avatar but now you're old so you listen to the arcade fire so you can be down with the kids. At least I assume that's why my dad listens to the arcade fire, and the same simply must be true for yourself

If I remember correctly, he just recently got his driver's license and is still in high school.

Well, in that case, nice one on the avatar I guess

I have and often enjoy the album, and I listened to it before I knew about the cover. The avatar just seemed like a good one as it fits with the Halloween theme pretty well.

I guess I just in general prefer older stuff while still keeping an eye out for good newer artists. I don't mind liking something popular if I enjoy it, but most things popular just tend to be horrible. I don't go against the curve just to say I do, it just usually happens to work out that way.

Hilarious coming from the guy who likes "dreamy music that blah blah blha".

Seriously, most of your links were like Cold Play on Nyquil. Just boring, indistinguishable garbage.

I was really steaming over here after you compared those songs to coldplay, but I've calmed down now. I mean when I really think about it, your frame of reference is obviously tiny, and your lack of ability to differentiate between the songs disproves my previous theory that you possessed a taste gland anyway.

So it's not like I care. You and Rime can grind meat together whilst listening to industrial and me and Eons will sit in the corner with our noses up and our iPods on in dream town.

Goose, your music is boring. I'm sorry. It must suck to be so invested in crafting an appearance as a well-listened music snob that you cling to your denial so vehemently.

I thank you for giving me some music to fall asleep to, though. That **** is better than my ocean sounds CD or the rain falling outside.

Also, industrial would be way down my list of preferred genres, and not just because Rime is such a huge fan. If I had to choose, I'd say blues and blues-influenced rock. Still a pretty far cry from the elevator music you hold so dear.

Disappointing, too, because after the whole episode where you revealed your interest in soul, I expected you selections to have some.

Did you have something more to say, Goose?

Edit: I added that comma. I think it's better that way.

Yes I do.

I forgot exactly what it was though.

Anyway, I'm gonna get sappy instead.

That last post of mine you replied to was mostly a joke. I had no idea what your stance on Industrial was, I just wanted to group you with Rime for fun after his earlier mention of sharing tastes.

And when I mentioned Eons I was just being silly. I actually hated the way Eons talked about music on this board. I don't mean to project myself in the same way that he did. But I guess I see where you're coming from with this:

So yeah, sorry about that. I don't really look down on your taste like I made out. I do listen to music that would make many fall asleep, and I regularly use it for that very purpose. I don't see that as a bad thing but whatever, @#%^ you pieces of sh*t. Please, by all means, strip me of Scholar. Please, by all means, ban me. Obviously I'm not "one of you" even though I've been here and posting for awhile now. Obviously it doesn't matter. So please, by all means, shut the @#%^ up and do something about it.

Let's not fall out when we were making such progress. Smiley: crymore

I don't really think your taste is that boring, it's just not my thing. It's certainly better than Rime and Eons' tastes.

Let's cuddle.
